- Deborah Szekely is a prominent visionary, activist and philanthropist. Born May 3, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, she spent her childhood in Tahiti, where her family became acquainted with philosopher and natural-living advocate Edmond Bordeaux Szekely. Deborah married Edmond in 1939 and, in 1940, the couple opened a camp in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, called Rancho La Puerta.
Here, they explored and tested their ideas for healthy living. As the Ranch grew inpopularity, some of her high-profile guests expressed their desire for a smaller, more private retreat. In 1958, Szekely opened the Golden Door.
Among her myriad accomplishments, Deborah founded (COMBO), Combined Arts and Education Council of San Diego County in 1978, which has raised over $25 million for 21 cultural organizations.
From 1984 to 1990 she was President of the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), an independent foreign assistance agency of the U.S. government which furthers grassroots development by awarding grants directly to the organized poor in Latin America, Caribbean, and the groups that support their efforts.
In 2012, Szekely founded Wellness Warrior, a non-profit organization in San Diego, California. The organization raises funds to act as a PAC (Political Action Committee) that lobbies members of Congress to support wellness initiatives.
Our hearts are full of gratitude to the Szekely Peacemakers, they are greater than this world.
She is an amazing woman! When I first moved to the Kootenays BC Canada I was told that her and Edmond lived here part time in Proctor BC. I was completely inspired by a book called “The Essene Gospel of Peace “ Book 1. Amazing book! It changed my life! I am so deeply grateful. Immensely. Thank you! 🧚♂️💧💎🎶🥑🥦🥕
I’m sad we cannot find copies for $2 anymore. I had Bourne so many copies and gave them away. My understanding is that Edmond wanted this book (Book 1 ) to stay at that low price indefinitely so that all people (from all walks of life) could have access to the deep wisdom inherent in those lost teachings. The books were printed out of Nelson BC.

I first moved here in 1984. The Essene Gospels were at that time actively being published and printed out of Nelson BC. I’ve been to the Book Store in Nelson and they only have a Box# to Szekely in Nelson but it’s not active anymore.

Hi! Thank you for your open heart. ✨💫💕 No . It wasn’t successful. That BOX # is no longer attributed to her. . I ended up ordering Book 1,2,3. & 4 through the book store in Nelson. All 4 gospels in one large book. Way more expensive than originally but so SO worth it. 🙏🏼
