Bitwig fixed my bug! Program changes finally working

- A few weeks ago I made a video about my Bitwig workflow. I also showed, that the Program Change feature was broken. After the release of that video I had the chance to talk to someone working with Bitwig. And guess what: they fixed the feature in the new beta 5.2! Thanks a lot to everyone who was involved into making that happen so fast.

That's awesome, Martin! Really happy they listened and fixed the issue. Now if only they will fix the horrible need for constant scrolling in the devices every time you drop a new device in, or open the modulation panels etc!
It is their way of telling you, that you should not put too many plugins on one channel. ;) But yes, you are right! I didn't notice that before, but now I also find it annoying.
@@MartinStuertzer Haha. I honestly didn't notice it for a long time, I think we're just so accustomed to scrolling every day in general that maybe we don't realise it. But the amount of constant scrolling I end up doing in Bitwig in the devices panel is really crazy. Not sure what the solution could be though, as an auto-adjustment might be visually annoying, but there should at least be an option.

Now please do a video on how you would like some sort of video sync and other video functionality built into bitwig! I have loved bitwig every step of the way after switching from ableton a few months ago but I would love to have some video functionality!

Was the program change issue the main (or only) reason you were using the novation for the past few videos?
No, the main reason was, that I have some issues with the script for Bitwig. They still exist, maybe I will do another video about that. ;)
@@MartinStuertzer I would love to see that video. I’m still using my push 2 with bitwig and I find the clip length does not work as intended. I also have some issues with the drum pads and drum pad layout. I’m not sure if it’s a me problem or different drum racks in bitwig or what else.

Thank you for your kind words, I am glad, that you found your way into making music! I am using the Push 3 as controller version, not the stand alone version. Usually I have a lot of non-ableton plugins in my setup, which would not work on the standalone.

Took a little while to get it fixed .... but patience and all ;-) Q: does it also work for 'empty clips' Martin? As a fill between clips, for live improvisation/playing ?
A good question! It should work, because the program change message is not linked to a note. I use clips with automation data only a lot in my sets.

Hi Martin, didn't noticed you switched to Bitwig, preferrably on Linux like i did, but that's another story. I have a wish, maybe you can tell your "friend" at Bitwig. In Sampler, please add a start point randomization feature, which always sets a random start inside (and or before) a loop. Right now, it accidentally happens, that the start is behind the loop and the sample ends with nothing but silence.......
Good to know they are listening to you. We shall resist the temptation to overload you with feature requests, but they should fix the issue of installing a new version of Bitwig each time you install a new version, and have capture midi, and, and, and ...
I think that is a windows problem. On the other hand I would like to have two versions at the same time. A stable release for playing live and the latest beta for fun.
I would love to have the option for people like you who live perform to install a new copy, not overwriting the old version. We who score for film really don't need an endless number of Bitwig versions in our studio. We only install software out of beta and certainly welcome only one copy on our computer.
I know it's stupid, but the only thing preventing to switch to bitwig is the size of the fader. Too small and too wide. I prefer the fader on Live. 🙅♀
Back in the day, Klaus Schulze also used a 'program update' to solve issues.... He drank another beer.... issues solved..... Easy.
