That mesh so heavy, youtube almost crashed. Realy extreme nice armor and so much work put in it, but boy this ui was loaded :0.
The lady is a very good Japanese interpreter...they usually suck but this one did a really good job.
She was pretty damn amazing & seemed to be really up to the task of handling all the program specific terms & words. A lot of the terps from the past weren't bad per say, they just got hung up on Zbrush & modeling specific words & phrases. She was astoundingly good, well aside from "Goz" when referring to Go Z but I honestly thought that was cute & funny.
Being a good interpreter is very challenging, but unfortunately most people who do it are just bilinguals with no training. Especially the technicality that is required here can easily ruin the entire show if not handled properly. I would never be able to remember what someone said when they speak in 30 seconds sentences each time. So anyway, she was amazing.
it also helps she's a project manager on the team, so she's involved in the some of the process of the film, not a random they hired for the summit
I do speak Japanese. She's very professional, translating just enough to communicate what is relevant, and that does the job, but at the same time she's not giving away the more mundane nuances of the conversation that would make them appear more human. And by the way they speak in very simple terms to make it easier to translate.
she looks so nervous
This was an awesome presentation. Was there in person to see it live.
It looks like I just found a new workflow for detailing weapons and armour... this was an excellent presentation...
Hour into a model. Make new mesh from scratch underneath my character mesh. Me pulling elements through by hand to make armor while watching this video. "WTF? Square Enix just totally REKT my ass in under a minute. FML." I deleted the whole mess & swore to do it their way from now on.
+hazonku I know that feel I was making 2B's clothes and I was making by hand the design pattern now I am hitting my head hard to the wall because of this xP
This was awesome. Thanks for putting these here on the youtube channel.
the only studio where they even have pro team to supply some special alphas....damn.
Really ? Wow
:P when a company is successful they can find the best luxury, i seen some places like techland and CD Project Red too, the amount of asset help they get is beyond a one man's imagination you will be blown away how they ready their assets.
yeah...lol, seriously, too much focus on creating good alphas. zb already comes with a good set and you can download more if you need
using a generic alpha are make the asset stale
every pattern have a different story
the ff15 world have their own style of pattern, even the enemy and ally have a different kind of pattern
for example, on the real world, europe and arab have a different kind of pattern for architecture or clothing
you can't use a generic pattern for all kind of world
they describe it on video about the alpha that they use, why they use that pattern
unless you make asset for fun and no a solid concept, then using generic pattern arent a big issue
@avikbellic911 one of the reason I want to work for RED
Can always rely on Square Enix to drop some really slick demo work along with their totally nifty presentation! These guys were great & their interpreter was super amazing! Best one I've seen yet in a Zbrush Summit presentation. (21:17) made me feel stupid. I literally just scrapped the model I'd spent an hour working on. Had a base mesh, made a whole new mesh underneath with zpheres, was trying to pull elements through by hand for armor. Saw they did literally the same thing in under a minute by exporting & tweaking UVs in Illustrator.
Me, "I'm stupid. FML."
I think the translator alone deserves a like...Can't even tell if her first language is Japanese or English...
Not that I speak Japanese...
she cud be american japanese
Love the craftmanship of Japanese artists.
OMG that Zbrush UI clutter, sheeeeeeesh.
yeah im stressed out looking at it. haha
it actually looks perfect, having all the common used buttons and brushes on the go is always useful. Its even better when u have a big screen
I guess so. I personally use a 80" 4K TV as monitor for my Animation works, and Zbrush does look spacious on it. I guess it is wise to add a few more buttons and gadgets, wouldn't hurt.
Ryu Y. Yin
I can’t believe you don’t use a fucking 80 inch monitor to its full potential lol.
Translator is beautiful!
Keep your eyes on the presentation young man.
The details omg!
I honestly thought that they'd use substance paint for the textured work, butbut I'm actually glad to see that using Photoshop for texturing isn't obsolete.
Blew my mind.. these guy are legend
I wish i could see what that Alpha file looked like on its own and the resolution and stuff that technique is DOPE. Also thank you so much for posting this inspiring piece!
I was really hoping to see them doing bodies or faces especially, this was cool too though
Most people just buy a scan from a store and remesh it. You get a realistic detailed result from all angles and a perfect diffuse map to start with.
Yuuva thats what the naughty dog talk was for
Really amazing keynote
Thank you very much
I've seen this movie 7 or 8 time already. I wish they showed it in cinemas here in Ukraine. It's a masterpiece!
Kingsglaive is better than the actual game IMO.
Wow.. I love the presentation.. Congrats Square Enix, tnx..
Nice blade work!
ゼットブラシの性能はすごいです 質感もよく出来ています!
eeeeeeeeeeeeehhhh...
hai
haha
I finally know how to sculpt complex pattern on a model~ yeah~ so eazy!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Awesome presentation eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Can someone know where can I get brush like this: 52:50 ?
This is fantastic! Thank you!!
I'll watch it tonight, thank you so much =)
love the armor of the General
Take a shot every time u hear the guy say "EEeeeeee".... your dead from alcohol poisoning
47:43
how do you taper the veins like that?
lol man, that UI lower row is no joke.
21:00 to 24:00 is all I needed to know 😉
Is there anything else in the video worth looking at? That seemed to be the most important thing really :/ but it's nothing new
to be honest i havent even finished watching it
i only point out that area out because i saw it being done on a speed sculpt video, and it blew my mind because i had know idea how he got to that point but after watching this video i finally understand.
there a lot more they covered after that but not so much in detail. i was hoping they would give us more insight on baking normal's because i am still struggling with that.
He pasted the design over the UV snapshot of the mesh. Then he assigned the texture to the sub.
I'm glad you pointed this out because I had no idea how much of a powerful technique this was! They can seriously add insane levels of detail in seconds and I'm honestly upset at myself for not thinking of something like this sooner. It's so simple in execution but it can turn a regular model into a cg masterpiece. The pros sure do have their ways don't they?
***** It is a game model, so they bake those details as normal map over the base mesh.
Not surprised to see FFXV ads in the presentation. :P
Awesome people!!!
Please, can you sshare the UI? its wonderfull and organized
head to zbrush central it's already there :)
please help .. im currently not in Altissia, and i have the main story quest called " The Summit " , i went to "Cape Caem" the harbor area but i cant use the boat to Altissia, how can i go there ??
56:55
UV is a deadly tool
would someone mind explaining the retopoligization process for me?
Lovely!!
1:15:58 is the best
Anyone know what brush he's using at around 54 mins in, the CH ones? I swear i've seen them around but cant seem to find them again
We tried to find the brushes, with no luck. If we find the information later, we will give you the answer as a reply to your comment.
Appreciate it, I swear I've seen the CH ones around somewhere, I think I've even had them at some point or it was just a really dull dream.
Try "Slash1" and "Slash2"
I know maybe is late to tell u, u could use lazy mouse feature
amazing
It's all about Kimochi...
can anyone please tell me what animation softwares being used by them for the making of FINAL FANTASY movie. and any other special techniques being apply.
Probably maya for the animation.
1:10:51 hahahahaha Didn't understand anything but knew exactly what he meant. :D
Retopologize isn't a word that you hear everyday. XD.
How many tris for each model?
sorry..link for tool brush into the video?
what is this process (21:17) called?
so that i can search it in the internet Dx
UV mapping
tnx
heheheehheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
so that armored character was 2 month to create
there many different character on that movie
and people judge good or bad in just 2 second of look
there too many harsh people out there, especialy the one who always hate cg stuff
they dont know it take a long time to create, take a lot of effort
46:11
How can I get z brush job
Square Enix should do a new Castlevania game
Into song?
I love you Nakano Yuri
So that's her name!!
nice translator. Pure English
the cookery xd
pc spec is secret????
Was also hoping to see their character creation :/
Todaaaay!?....
Does anyone know her ig??
Fck, this is so high level, amazing... The game models dont even show the talent of the artists, its alot more to do with texturing and lighting, alot of the detail is lost. But thats normal... in real life you dont notice the details in everything, nl interest lol, its all normal for us, only if you try doing it in 3D and see the work it takes to make, you kinda notice it more... in real life who cares about shoelaces?? But try making them in 3D like they did here ugh!! Translator has a funny voice. Man, this looks awesome. It lags on their pc, its so fcking dense!! Texturing must have been so fcking difficult... OR, im thinking, maybe they just converted the difuse map to a black and white to have the scratches in, white, lets say, and use that as specular map, or whatever it is that they use, because i cant believe they would draw over every scratch, that wouldnt be possible - Just wondering, curious how they do it, but probably like that... or the normal map, normal map will have the scratches and maybe just go over that for specular map, or something like that, i think. 4 months of work!!! It really goes a whole lot of work!! Just for 1 character :0
their japanese accent is so strong
43 million x10.... f-ing what...?
Like 😍
@30:22 he does what with the brush....?? he what?
-----
Edit: eehhhh....
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehh
They're skilled sculpts, but design-wise, the details are way too busy to the eye.
I agree. They tend to spend a lot of time on refining over the top (frankly IMHO unnecessary) tiny details, while the overall look is quite messy. The result is too noisy. They should keep in mind the important simplicity principle "less is more".
Also why Bokeh and FOV effects is so trendy in the final renders. Almost everybody use it today.
yeah. you dont NEED to fill every single surface with strokes
is not supposed to please your ocd super-stylized visuals, the aim for this design was for ultra-realism, resesary to be fully complete and modeled for every angle in the movie. the design is extremely sexy (imo) and busy enough to make it for the super intimidating villain who's wearing an armor of demons.
fleeplayTV You're kidding right? I'm not the one obsessed with details, they are. I'm not saying it doesn't look good, it is well done, but believe me, at no point in the game you will ever notice such tiny detail. It's a waste of effort, energy, time and resources. So what's the point, if not self indulgence in unnecessary extra work.
Looks like she's just reading off her laptop, if that's the case, why bother with the two guys speaking Japanese and then repeated in English? I have nothing against them speaking Japanese, it just seems like a waste of time.
For the folks back home in Japan.
She's not reading off her laptop. She's translating for them by ear, while observing what they're doing in ZBrush. You can't see that?
Yeah, the bit where they're having issues with loading the mesh.
She's not, shes a professional interpreter so she takes notes while they are speaking. I'm bilingual too and I can sign off on that she did a very good job, usually these guys skip a lot of details they dont have the vocabulary for but she was pretty damn accurate.
