Remember the part of the books where they will run into a familiar song or story and realize its not told/sung the exact same way as the way they learned it? That is just how stories work. This isn't a telling of the WoT by Robert Jordan, its a retelling, by an entirely different gleeman.
Your complaint about being a waste of time for the 3rd gate is kind of unfair to the show tbh, us as book readers knew she was gonna comeback so it was kind of a waste of time for us, but the show wasn't made for book readers, the general audience didn't know that she was gonna comeback and from what im seeing from a lot of fans is that they liked the trial and it was a good twist. About the whole melodrama stuff i kind of agree with Moiraine and Lan, they could of easily cut out half of those scenes and gave that time to Rand.
She already had a fakeout death. This is her second fakeout death. I think show only watchers assumed she would come back.
@@TheWitchofEndor-1 they are staying true to the books then lol, the books had like 30 fakeout deaths, especially in the memory of light.
@@vonhines3574 yeah so why add more. The source material already has plenty.
@@TheWitchofEndor-1 if the series gets that far, (which i think it will) I do not want those fakeout deaths there, if anything i want more dead characters. But thats just me and I understand its a pretty hot take.
As a book reader I agree with all the problems you stated. This seasons seems better and what I see is they are trying to course correct like they read past book 1 and realized how much they changed.
Though I understand some changes, mostly their focus on characters we saw in season one, it's a television choice like game of thrones combining story lines for the sake of narrative streamlining, doesn't mean it's right but I understand it there.
The scene with her training with the warders I saw as a scene that would have been Rands, they mention many times in the book on how a well placed arrow can kill a channeler. That would have been more for Rand and Lan but as I said above course correction. They are definitely moving to have hopefully have this season end just as the second book ends or as close as and then move from there.
I would also like to say I absolutely hate what they are doing to lan and Moiraine as well but the only difference is the tied off true power shield Ishy put on her. In book 3 her and lan have quite a few heated convos and many more in book 4. I personally think when the fight in the sky happens like eluded to by Verin in episode 3, the shield will drop. Drama unfortunately is good for television.
I generally like the show but agree about the lack of discipline in the Tower. Both Nynaeve and Egwene should have been sent to the Mistress of Novices.
As you point out, they have absolutely no idea who Lan is.
They’re overdramatizing Lan and Moiraine for tv
hard for Rafe to write a male character that is a stoic as he is an unstable person who hates Jordan.
"He has a funny accent" That would be Welsh lol
Do they have the screen writers from the "Witcher" writing this? For me some of the acting is taking me out of the show, not from the season actors. It might be the writing, directing, or just bad acting. When you don't believe the actors whom they are portraying? Their acting do NOT correlate to what they are feeling or going though.
I just can’t understand when they literally have 15 books of stories why would they make up totally different plot lines and decisions. 😅😅😅
The only thing that makes sense, is a purposeful destruction of the material.
makes sense as Rafe hates Jordan and thinks he knows better.
I love the books and I will always love the books but the shows allowed to be different. I think they’re doing a good job as a show but it’s definitely not the books come to life.
I do have to say you have some of your facts wrong on thakandar blades. It absolutely can be healed by A.S. in fact Talmanes lives after being stabbed several times by fades for more than 4 hours of time before he's brought to the field of Marilore.
Also, Rand is with Loial, Selene and Hurron in book two. Mat has less than 200 pages and is a skeleton pretty much the entire time. Rand has two POV total in book three. He's gone the entire book being chased by Perrin. It's just a repeat.
I know you're thinking about the books a lot (I've read them 20* i understand) but they are merging book two and three because the plotlines are redundant. They plan on having season three pretty close to dead on book 4. I'm here for it. Personally out of all the books 2 and 3 are at my back end of the list. I just didn't care for them at all. 🤷🏻♀️
I misspoke in regards to the blade I meant in that situation I don't see the justification of them being healed since they didn't have a yellow aja with them even though yes it is possible. I know they are merging the 2 books together I just didn't want to mention certain later aspects due to spoilers for people who have not read anything. But yes all good points
@@TheMarshMedia but we know Verin can heal. She heals Egwene and heals Mat constantly on the way back to the white tower to get him fully healed from the dagger. So it's not that out of place. 😃 just reminding you of some stuff because a lot of people forget all the little tid bits. I've listened to the books on audiobook about 20 times in the last 5 years because my job is super loud and I use headphones instead of ear plugs. I finished my 20th read last week. It's really fresh for me rn.
The most out of place thing for me is the Lan Moiraine line. However, in book two we know Moiraine is at the twins getting information and at the end of the series she is in Falme when all that jazz happens with Rand. In book 3 she mentions she had been there gathering information. This to me is a mess up by Robert Jordan himself because if Moiraine was in Falme she would have been caught. She's too strong to not get caught. I think that's where the shield comes into play. It actually helps her achieve not getting collared if she goes to Falme. But I don't know, I'm with you. I don't like the way they are doing lan dirty.
It seems like the main girl's plotlines are fairly close to the book and feel really tight and strong in Season 2 (with the exception of Moiraine, they did her dirty taking her power away). The boys...ugh.
I agree despite my gripes I like where they are at. The boys I can see what they are doing with them but they should have kept them together to hunt the horn. It's just they wanted to have rand fake his death for some reason and then the Matt actor left so idk if Matt was suppose to be with perrin right now but due to the actor leaving in season 1 they had to make some stuff up🤷♂️
@@TheMarshMediathat's exactly what happened. You can read the old script and it's a lot better.
haha - Other dude is Ingtar and mate, dont apologise for being negative because its a super conflicting start to the season if you love the lore, like I do for example and you've just recently read this right? So when they dick around with characters, it actually hurts - especially with something as monumental as WoT.
They seem to hate all the male characters mate, it's actually disgusting that part of it. The girls they are basically doing fine (apart form Moirane as you said, that is just wow so far) they are where they shou are in love with and fuck them for it tbh.ld be, mostly acting how they should - but the boys are literally being butchered or neutered its gross.
Mat noping out on a distraught Egwene was..... just egregious imo. Coz I was really enjoying that new actors performance, he was killing it as Mat then they set up a moment where Mat can shine ond go help Eggy, like he bloody would obviously, and they continue with this Mat is a piece of shit arc they can proper get fucked for.
I pretty much agree with most things u said mate, there are some good things and it is a step up from S1 but the characterization continues to be a massive problem and it really makes you wonder what the hell they are calling it an adaptation for.
Yeah I just finished recently but it took me about 3 years to read it. Not as much time with the characters as before. I think I wouldn't mind the plot changes as much if they were sticking to who the characters are at heart. I agree with mat someone said during this time he isn't himself though because of the dagger but I don't know if that's the reason he is acting this way or if it's the writing. It's definitely better than season 1 so far but is suffering from what season 1 established. Hopefully the writing continues to improve and get better as they go.
@@TheMarshMedia Yeah i agree dude, im ok with plot changes - they have to change that stuff to fit it in, but theres no excuse for the character changes imo - maybe the lingering dagger effects? That would be annoying as well tbh if you are combining books 2 and 3, as if you dont pick Mats book 3 escape from Tar Valon arc lol
So in the last episode of the first season Uno, Ingtar and Loial were killed but in the second season, first episode they are hale and whole....did you miss that huge mistake?
I think they washed over it because getting stabbed by the dagger as well should be a death sentence 😂 honestly I think my brain wanted to forget that it happened
@@TheMarshMediaI just look at it and think, Loial totally had a big book in his pocket and it missed him 😂
Aes Sedai do not live forever.
My apologies if I misspoke but it is hundreds of years that they live
It would be a better review if you stopped pretending that your whole opinion is shaped by how much you are resisting any change from the books. Not all changes are automatically a bad thing, season 2 is spinning a pretty good alternative pattern.
Rafe hates Jordan. Prove me wrong. He has changed nearly every aspect of WOT. Case in point. Have you had someone you love before? Describe them. Now do the Rafe version and describe them as the opposite. It is not love now but hated for the books that drives this story.
Like I said prior I don't mind plot changes in adaptation but I do mind when they change the spirit of who a character is. I mention the book changes because a lot of the problems are caused due to the changes they are making i.e. Moraine being cut off from the source being totally unnecessary and leading to her character assassination so far. As a pure TV it is not as though this change elevated anything since it is just average TV at this point but as an adaptation it fails to adapt the material
@@jonahdav9589I have to agree with you. If Rafe had a tinge of respect for Jordan he would want to honor him by using his material.
The women are moody bitches and if they don't get their way they're portrayed as bitchier bitches as opposed to strong, intelligent, creative women. The men are just sissy boys needing women to rescue them.
This is WOT in name only. They stole Jordan's reputation to create a show that fit their own personal agenda which proves just how incapable they are as writers that they couldn't be successful on their own merit
You are spot on! It almost seems like they went out of their way to make Lan as unwarrior like as possible. As a book reader you want to cringe. As a T.V. watcher in these times, does it fit? It plays like a 70's mini series, and a bad Tarentino ripoff. 😢😢
i think it's allright. writing is better than season 1 so far. they have changed basically everything from the books. but if you look at it as a random fantasy show, so far it's not too bad. persoanlly i wish matt wasn't in jail for 3 whole fucking episodes lol. i think liandrin got too much screen time, i wish they spent less time in tar valon and less time of rand bumping uglies and moving on with his plot. but to be fair, the actress playing lanfear is absolutely fking gorgeous so i don't blame him for procastinating and just staying put and banging the shit outta her ; p
to be fair tho, aes sedai can heal wounds created by thakandar blades. talmanes kills like 4 fades and is cut multiple times and on the brink of death when he gets healed by a circle in book 14.
Yeah as a normal TV show it's average to me as well. As an adaptation it has issues, and a lot of the issues come from the things they did in season 1. Hopefully it gets better but it will be interesting
Mat is just like the books. Not there for book 2 lol
Rafe hates Jordan. He has to change nearly everything and it is for the worst.
It just seems they don’t know how (or they refuse) to develop the male roles. Here we are season 2 and we still don’t understand Perrin’s powers or how complex Rand is. Matt’s character is a mess
They can't/won't this show is about "female empowerment" so males have to be secondary at best.
i think they hate the male characters, they want to focus on the females character especially Moiraine and Nynaeve
Are a 'brown' and a 'green' even capable of healing Lans' wounds from the fades? Lan is already covered in scars, from having a 'blue' do battlefield healing on their adventures. They have already established in season 1, that the 'yellows' are needed to heal the serious flesh wounds on Perrin, and he is down for a couple days. I don't mind the overall story being different, but they are breaking rules established in the show already. Finally, the test for accepted, clearly states the way out will come once... and then it shows up more than once???
Yes, other Ajahs are capable of Healing. Yellows simply run the hospices in Tar Valon, so obviously Yellows would be the one to heal Perrin. Why would they call other Aes Sedai when they are already there on the spot?
Test for Accepted, Nynaeve created the Arch a second time for her third trial. This is part of book lore and is never fully explained, but it is there.
Very true I think my issue is more with the delay and fakeout death aspect of it. If they didn't do that especially after her fakeout death in season one it would be better. But you are correct it is in the book just not emphasized, someone later pointed that out.
