- There's a lot of information out there. Some good, some bad. Everyone has an opinion and there is more than one right way to do certain things, but practicing poor training exercises sets you up for poor performances. The sport of boxing is already tough enough to master without practicing flawed techniques. The moral of this story is....Please don't "hand drop!"

Gold mine
Best boxing videos on CZcams.
This channel is truly gold.
Absolutely correct
You bet!
@@WorldClassBoxingChannel So first question u say that ur suppose to be tight always for defense its funny cuz fighting the regionals match a guy i tried to drown was able to catch me cuz i was just disregarding his ability and assuming he was better n i kamiakazed him bad ik(first year boxing) but i got caught with a left hook never seen coming but it was i opened up to wide to land a big Shot my question is beginning of a fight when someone comes out extra aggressive and explosive n throws a 1 1 2 should i just be able to take it by defending throwing short blows or is it okay for me to throw full shots with with full extension??? I feel like what ur saying is correct but dosnt it take alot of heart to stand there n catch catch roll right hand ??? But wouldnt that leave u off balance n if u throw light tight punches wont a bigger guy then u just walk thru it????
You are absolutely correct. I thought the same thing when I saw he coached Anthony video about dropping your hand. It would leave you open. Thank you for the correction
The Bestest Boxing Teacher Online !

What are some of your poor training habits? What have you done to correct those bad tendencies? Train hard, but most importantly train smart!
I'm working on my hip rotation.
Thanks for the great explanation
@@pabloroa5777 You are welcome.
Tension. Definetly tension.
Great video, coach, really helpful. I commit the same mistake: hand dropping. Regards from Mèxico. Thanks a lot!
Very professional advice
Watching these tutorials is worth more than years of some martial arts, kickboxing, or boxing instructions.
Anthony Quintiliani thank you 🙏
Fantastic videos and amazing tuition. Im 62 years old and I still train, and I'm still learning. Wish I had come across these videos years ago. Magic. Please keep the videos coming. Thank you

Very great stuff brethren thanks. This is 100% true.
so true - it's like your first solo playing live after all that time rehearsing in the kitchen...things seize up and muscle memory flies out the window!
Thank you! now I understand why you should keep elbows tight, but I don't feel relaxed?
Simply top.

Cant wait to see your next vids
Thanks !! 👊
Regards from the Netherlands
Fantastic advice. Thank you
This is a very good talk on fundamentals. Everything that's said is awesome by itself but when the movement starts it's clear how the stance ties punches together with defense. I kinda feel like I should've paid to see this XD, but I'm very grateful it's out here for free.
It’s like watching ballet. Perfection
Your videos are like gifts, subbed
Beautifully explained 💯
Great video Tommy.
Excellent Explanation with good real life example from pro boxers.
Wow. Just what I needed.
Very informative video. Thank you!
Very important concepts thanks coach!
You are a godsend. Thanks coach.
What you’re saying makes perfect sense. Coach, when will you be doing the video on the “temple shot” ?
Another great video.
Pure knowledge
Words of wisdom. Great video Tom. Best regards
3:35 short hook (dont wind it up )
Bringing it forward and over
4:05 tyson shadow box
Always practicing those fundamentals
4:40 uppercut tight
5:45 philly shell hands defense
6:55 punches are hidden to ko
That part about being lazy with the fundamentals hit home for me. Even happens to the greats. Great advice for me to being accountable to keeping that strong foundation in my training.
I love it
Really love your videos best ever

Good topic, good advice.
Not a fan of that slap style focus pad work. Dont swat it into the punch for added effect.
Give me an old fashioned set of standard mitts with a strong partner
Winning thoughts
I wish I had a Coast like you when I was boxing. I really didn’t add two ammeters one one and lost one. I used Prince Charles Williams. I had someone like you who knows how far I might’ve went.
WoooooW Thank you kind sir !!2 bad u dont teach in holland :(

Can I ask why you are using the taekwondo paddles for boxing combo's?
Would love to train at a gym with Tom’s philosophy out here on the west coast. Anyone have recommendations in Los Angeles?
Where are you located exactly?

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thanks my friend!
MASTER TEACHER
👍
While i agree you must keep your punches tight at all times for protection, the fact of the matter is you will have to unavoidably open up to get your shots off. Whether it's your head or your body. whenever you throw a punch something opens up. The key is to keep it as subtle as possible and making sure your retraction is fast.
And when you open up to throw the punch, is when you need the most protection. Chin in, elbows tucked, knees slightly bent, shoulder shield, movement and limited target space. Thanks V!
World Class Boxing Channel yeah one in one out right coach 😁 i love that drill you you came up with.
The one you came up with?
World Class Boxing Channel no remember you were teaching the importance of keeping the opposite hand up when throwing punches through a drill you had one of your fighters demonstrate it.
Hey Tom you still in pittsburgh? Do you have opn gym hours. Im from johnstown would love to come down sometime get in a workout in a world class gym
Hey! Yes I am still in Pittsburgh. Let me know when you want to come down!
That is true but sometimes you need to through wide when you spar or fight.
Sometimes you do. But don't leave yourself unprotected. If you practice "tight" fundamentals your punches will tend to stay a little more compact. If you practice too wide, then you will leave yourself too open just as this video expresses! Thanks. The "wideness already comes naturally in the fight, so don't make it worse by practicing poor habits in the gym.
Nice wood pile, Coach!
“ Punches are Hidden”,
Can you post a video on the gazelle punch how often do you shadowbox
You like the Gazelle punch? Also, shadowbox early and often. It's the best tool in training. Never enough and there is no equipment involved. Just you and your motivation!
@@WorldClassBoxingChannel i normally jump rope 3xs a week for 10minutes shadowbox 10 min everyday i do pad work 4xs a week heavybag once a week will that be enough to keep my stamina sharp
As a Golden Gloves Champion ,i’m glad to see a coach, who knows boxing and how to teach it properly. I see so many boxers today, who have no idea what they are doing.
@@harleyshoaf4916 Thanks champ! Very much!
How did Roy Jones find Coach Yankello anyway? Tom is in Pennsylvania whereas roy is from louisiana right?
Roy’s from Pensacola Florida, I thought coach was somewhere out of Florida too. Maybe not🤷♂️ but Roy’s from and fights out of Pensacola Florida
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Do you have a video of you when you were kid When you boxing in a ring?
Yes!
Me and my friend Would like to see it 😊
@@arthertc4210 Ill have to transfer from VHS tapes to dvd so just give me a bit of time and I'll post.
Yes take you time we can wait for 100 years you video is amazing!!! by the way I won boxing match by using your tips thanks you so much 🙏 and Have a nice year 👍🏼
Great video but I think the fella missed the point about flashy fighters having their hounds down, for more power and distractions, or possibly to conserve energy. Flashy fighters encourage bad behavior from wannabe boxers. Fighters only have their hands up if they fear being hit. Will not mention names.
