Growing up I sat on the floor to eat lunch or dinner with my family every day, mostly because it’s a habit and tradition, but also because we couldn’t really afford dining chairs and tables. Now that my family could buy tons of dining furniture, somehow they still choose to eat on the floor, cause they find it more comfortable 😂

Most people in southeast Asia or probably Asia in general have those outdoor seating, mainly for chatting and drinking together with family. And for some reason, in some families nobody even sits or even eats on the dining table

Key word: *Looks* - The table is way too low compared to the chairs. Eating there'd kill my back and the chairs themselves look yery uncomfortable. The woooden set is much better; the chairs look like they have proper back support for my 185 height. 😊
I'm a Muslim Arab, the floors really tend to be more comfy, in my house we usually eat on a big folding table, but at my aunt's nah we just eat on the floor and a little table, we're done! Lmao 😂
How is the floor more comfy lolol most of us can sit cross legged and you have to bend your back to get stuff in the middle and your plate is a mile away from your mouth. Limits what you can eat and how you can eat it and you get stiff really quickly

As a German eating, let alone sitting on the floor is unthinkable. The only time we have done this, was when my mom wanted to create a special dinner something just for the two of us. It was then when my mom told me that other cultures always eat on the floor…being 7 years old I was amazed, facinated and curious about the world and all the different point of views. As an American, we typically eat on the couch. It’s probably not what everybody does here. But it’s definitely what my family has always done. We only use the table during thanksgiving or Christmas 😂
As another American, I'd say the couch is only for snacking or eating in front of a screen. The table is for family meals - personally, I consider those essential, so we have at least one meal at table together per day.
I think it varies greatly by family in the US. We did not eat on the couch when I was growing up and I won’t allow it as an adult now. We eat all meals and snacks at the table or kitchen counter.

this is like Turkish "sofra" culture. we eat on floor too, but we use "sofra" . sofra is made of wood, shaped circle and with short legs. sometimes we use "sini" a kind of large tray, mostly made of copper or aluminum.
