Minecraft has been made for basically everything under the sun, but during the game's history, there have been some versions that have gone forgotten. You forgot the PC Gamer Demo Disc. It is essentially Java Beta 1.3, but the the player has a 5 in-game day limit before they are told to buy the full version of Minecraft. It even has an exclusive tutorial map that uses the famous Glacier seed, and Cows have the PC Gamer logo on their left side. Unless there is a more obscure version, this might be the first physical version of Minecraft. Physical versions of Minecraft Xbox 360 released in May 2013. Nearly 2 years after this demo disc released.
I grew up on Minecraft 4K edition, which was not mentioned, so now I feel my childhood was just dismissed and unrecognized. I'm now a sad boy 😢

I used a Raspberry Pi 4 as my main computer for some years, playing Minecraft Java at 30 FPS and thought it was totally fine.

@@thekitcat_447 Probably lots of performance mods. I did it on a pi 3 and got about 7fps with minecraft.
I runned XFCE on Raspberry Pi OS Lite with the Fabulously Optimized modpack. I mainly play on servers so it runs much better. Other than that I could say that Chromium is much faster than Firefox so I used that for quick searches but for everything else, I love Firefox with the Sidebery extension and the EdgeFrfox theme so I use that.
People also forgot the original switch edition with legacy which is now impossible to buy you can only play it if you own it as it never released physically it was just like the Xbox one edition but with the Mario pack and x mas pack for free

About Minecraft china : a few years ago I played it while in France with a fake Chinese id generator and I could play ? This is weird bc apparently there is location based restrictions

Lol I remember as a kid messing in education edition with all the chemistry elements and stuff, but if I remember correctly in minecraft PE there is an option when you create a world to make it an education edition world. This feature might've been removed since last time I used it which was in like 2018 but I'm pretty sure the option was there
No it's still there, I know that because I saw it while creating a world in Minecraft PE/Bedrock

The education edition is much much different from the Education mode present on Minecraft bedrock edition. The Education edition minecraft has many strange items such as camera and other stuff which bedrock education mode lacks.

Before bedrock just became Minecraft there was Minecraft Windows 10 Edition alongside Minecraft Pocket Editon, Both could even play coop and join servers together. It's significant because as far as I understand it was the first time bedrock edition came to an x86 platform
Technically speaking that’s not the first time because the 360, a console using X86 is the first one.

as i was asking my dad in 2011 for a capable pc to run minecraft he gave me the raspberry pi with minecraft pi edition

Minecraft Pi! That brings back memories. We used it in a coding club once and primarily spawned in castles and stuff. It's fun to play around with until you get bored and start wishing you had the real version of Minecraft.
Thankfully, Minecraft Java is written in Java so you can put a JVM on your Pi and it'll run. Probably not at a good framerate though so you'll want Fabulously Optimised, the lowest possible graphics settings and a resolution of 720p or lower. I've heard good things about the Pi 5 though - maybe that'll run it better.

I actually played pi edition and it got an update which made it very playable and added survival

There actually used to be another version of minecraft that predated Minecraft Education edition! It was called Minecraft EDU, was based on java edition, and had mod compatibility. When it was taken over and replaced by education edition I remember one of my high school teachers at the time being pissed because it dropped so many features in the switch to bedrock.
My java account was actually originally an EDU account that was bought in bulk at a discount by that teacher, I got it heavily discounted by him for only 3 bucks!
The first version of Minecraft I ever played was the raspberry pi edition, I don’t know if it’s still like this but when I played it it had only 8 blocks and an iron sword and it could only be played in creative

There was a forgotten pocket edition version exclusive for japan called "0.1.0J Alpha" ... It already used the same sounds when they replaced them in the 1.4 update with the "new" ones. Yeah I was that guy who tried to find cracked versions of pocket edition back then.. xD
it seems that, while 0.1.1J can be found relatively easily, 0.1.0J basically doesn't exist with how there's no info on it (the non-J version is documented, though), so if you still have the APK lying around somewhere, the internet archive would probably be a good place to put it!

Awesome Video!! You forgot about Minecraft Pocket Edition lite, which was a separate app that was on iOS and android as a demo in the late 2000s, early 2010s ( I grew up with it cuz I was too poor for the paid version) 🙃
I WAS THE SAME WAY I WOULD NEVER CLOSE THE APP CAUSE I DIDNT WANT MG BUILDS TO GO AWAY (also I found an old iPad I had the game on so I can play it again now)

I’m kinda late, but I grew up with Xbox one edition, it was a big part of my childhood, I was so excited when I got it for my birthday, I used to play is every day
You have an apple TV and quest 2 in the thumbnail. Apple TV has a version and the quest has an unofficial Java "port" (more like modpack)
I believe there was a Minecraft Gear VR Edition that was specifically designed to be used on samsung phones that were put into those cheap plastic vr headset things that just had lenses in them basically.

I remember in middle school we downloaded education edition and some spanish bed wars server on a bunch of the desktops in our IT class and would play almost every day

Fun fact the download of Minecraft for China may be completely free but to play the game you have to pay a monthly subscription fee that is completely based on the required location that you have to give that is displayed on the ID that is required to have the account in the first place. Not to mention you also have to have an active phone number and if you are a minor under the age of 18 you have to have a parent provide consent through the game by providing their ID card to allow them to play I think only like 3 hours a week or something outrageous like that! If they tried to play more than the allotted time the game automatically shuts off and will not allow it to be turned back on till the 24 hour cycle is reset!

Back when I was little there was Minecraft pocket edition lite, which was like a demo of sorts as it lacked many features and blocks unless you paid for the full version.
Also while not official, tthere's a homebrew version of Minecraft for the psp which is... Very weird, but still incredibly impressive considering the hardware it runs on

I actually used Minecraft education edition, I had a cool teacher so we ended up just playing survival instead of learning on it until that stopped 😂

There was an older version of Education Edition which was based on the Java Edition, I remember playing it back in the day.
I heard about a "minecraft ps3 definitive edition" back in the days. (Can't find it anywhere now tho apart from a very sketchy website)

Our school had givin us access to Minecraft Education Edition without themself knowing (probably an accident while choosing a Microsoft Licence which included this Version of Minecraft), until i played it and OUR SCHOOL IT ADMIN GOT A RECOMMENDATION FOR DIFFERENT LESSONS IN MINECRAFT... so they instantly changed licence

Raspberry Pi has WAY more uses than education.
I know farmers who use them and with their GPIO pins to connect cameras and sensors to check soil quality and temperature to compare health of crops and have it automatically sent back to them. People make smart locks out of them, you can run them as a network wide adblocker if you don’t already have a home server. They can be media players, realistically raspberry Pi due to their cost and openness can be used for whatever you need to do

honesty the lack of soundtrack in pi edition isn't a bad thing IMO. tbh, whenever I'm in the mood to play Minecraft the music is always the first to get shut off. the music in the game is relaxing the first time around but after awhile it's like listening to nails on a chalkboard.

The first time I played minecraft was on fire tv edition. I played it for half a year when i was 8. I also played terraria fire tv edition

i played minecraft vr and i would not recommend playing because the game runs with like 2 fps and the vr part is not working that good :(

Raspberry pis are great! Raspberry Pi edition was my first one, played it once and never again. You get it it packed with some versions of the raspberry pi basic operation system(?). But the only thingy raspberry still does is be in a voron v0

I think minecraft apple tv edition is more obscure than all of these. Barely anyone played it and it was pulled from the apple tv app store because the userbase was so small.

Was this in 2013? I remember that my local church had a week along event in the summer for kids to play this version. I never attended it though. Since my parents did not want to drive me somewhere to play Minecraft.
For Minecraft Education Edition, don't worry as you can play it on every platform that supports Bedrock Edition except the consoles (i think)
It can be played on any Bedrock platform. I was able to play with Educarion Editon on my Switch a few weeks ago. However, it just seems to be elements and the chemistry equipment in the Creative Inventory + NPCs. I did not see any of the features such as coloured torches, underwater TNT, or cameras.
I’m pretty sure net ease also has a stake in Riot games as well
