Always use ear protection, and sandles

Ever heard of a 3" lag bolt lmao. Need to use structural screws for this.

Not for this span. Make sure you check *your* code though.

Can’t recommend it for safety, but damn if it wasn’t the most comfy way to get the job done.

Got water coming in? What caused the damage? Thanks for the video, always helpful to see

I didn’t see any signs of rot on the damaged part or signs of water damage on on the sill that the joist sits on, so it might have just gotten non-water damaged at some point.

Would you employ the same idea to joists in the attic?
Mine has too much flex and it's causing problems with the ceiling below.
I'm looking at blocking vs. sistering ... thank you

I have the same basic scenario as you but where your joists hit the ledge I noticed yours were compressed, did you jack it up before placing the new sister joists in place?

I didn’t but if you look closely when i placed it before screwing it, you’ll see that I sort of levered it in there slightly. The compression wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t do that. The key thing I think is that the new piece makes contact with the sill and also the subfloor above.

Ok ty I'm doing the same,my compression is bad so I will sandwich the joist between 2 new ones..fingers crossed not too much lifting is required
