      No. It’s easy to not act like a toddler all the time. The caller is a dirtbag and the world would be better off without him. I’m living this life, with me and my kids a prisoner of my wife’s tantrums. These people deserve no quarter. They can just stop doing it, but they choose not to.

    Wow, what a great call to hear! I also have anger issues that stemmed from my father and terrible childhood. I've been on my own since I was 18 (33 now) and haven't had a relationship with my extremely dysfunctional family ever since. I know I need to work on my anger, but I also just want to feel the love from my wife and kids that I haven't experienced from my own parents growing up. Thanks Dr. John!

    5:35 right before he said Control, I said it, because I know all too well what this guy means. Of course there's other ways to gain control but one of the easiest ways is thru Anger.

    Man I need someone like Dr. D in my life! Not like a Dr. But a legitimate friend. A therapist of this caliper would be amazing but a true friend that really cares this much is priceless!

      Or he/she is not emotionally involved. My husband of 23 years is cool as a cucumber most of the time. I am the angry one because he doesn't step up and I have to fill his roles all the time. When difficult problems come up, he just rolls them off his shoulder. Eventually, I have to deal with them. He just merrily watch TV or go shopping for his hobby.

    Boy..this hits home. I grew up on the mission field with loving, kind parents, who reared us kids with love ....but on Rare occasion would get a spanking. Then later married a person who has been abusive in every way. I live with such guilt for staying with him. And for the way his anger was used on our kids. Thank you for guiding people to a Different way of handling anger and frustration.

    Oh my goodness! I have battled anger for such a loooong time. I have also wanted to call in and work through all this anger garbage but I can't muster up the emotions to look so foolish for my erratic behavior for years and years. I have put my son, daughter and my husband through violent outrages too many times to count and I don't know why. You making this call really is encouraging me to finally, hopefully make a call so I can stop tripping over the same huge boulders that make me become so angry. Thank you for calling Dr John:) Yahweh bless you and give you strength in your endeavor to overcome this evil monster.

    Ladies if you have a good husband like this, please help him and don’t let your children run all over you. It is hard to remain calm when your loved one is manipulated by your own children. And also don’t try and control him, he is his own individual person.

    Why would you to have a need to say upfront that you’re Christian?

    • @flyboysgirl18
      @flyboysgirl18 Před 3 lety +8

      Your question can be taken a couple of different ways. I would like to think you are just really curious and not being a troll. So I’ll go with that. IMHO he’s talking to a therapist, so out of the gate he is establishing the group with whom he identifies with. I think (therefore I could be wrong) that it was important to him personally, and in some ways it is an automatic response within that particular group. Another reason could be is that that statement is jam packed with info i.e. I work hard at living a way of life that falls in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ and by establishing that upfront, the therapist can then work within that framework. So, even though anger issues are a human problem and not any particular group’s problem, we tend to let others around us know which group we identify with. In context, this courageous man was reaching out for help and was sincerely looking for answers, and I am grateful to him and Dr. John because changing ourselves is how we change life in our homes, communities, and the world.
