- The top riders of the international Enduro scene returned to action at the inaugural round of the Italian Championship, with Steve Holcombe winning the race in his debut with Honda RedMoto in the E1 category, followed by Andrea Verona repeating with the Gas Gas 350, and Nathan Watson making his debut with Beta. Brad Freeman injured probably a finger in the supertest, leaving him out for the rest of the competition, and Josep Garcia suffered a lot as he lost his shift lever and had to complete an entire Enduro Test in second gear. Hamish MacDonald returned to 2 strokes with Sherco for the first time since he was crowned Youth World Champion.

Discounting Josep gear level (I assume this was replaced, not all the tests), I'm surprised Steve beat him. Not cos Steve can't beat him on any bike, but I would have said Josep riding style fits a 250F (riding on the stop), and Steve is just super smooth and was the best on a 300 2T in my view....but great to see Steve has adapted so well but I think we would still be even quicker on a 300 2T :-)
