You are actually accurate for the towing. Lol. Even upon police request it may be several hours. Insurance related towing may take 2-3 business days on average depending where you are.
Yeah, usually if it goes to a yard so that the fees can be paid and releases signed. California is wonky to where certain tow companies won’t go into another companies area.
