- After finishing his four-and-a-half-year wandering retreat, Mingyur Rinpoche returned to his monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, only to face extensive damage left there by a major earthquake. In this video, Rinpoche describes his experience upon seeing this aftermath and shows us how moments of adversity can become powerful catalysts for growth, innovation, and flourishing.

Thank you, Rinpoche. I read your Joy of Living and In Love with this World. A long time ago a young man tried to kill me with a hammer in Brooklyn, and aside from some physical damage, there was a deeper psychological damage of feeling hate and wanting revenge etc. It took a long time to fully recover. I had to learn to accept the parts of myself that had very toxic feelings, that is, to stop trying to push them away. I was able to let go of those very poisonous feelings and even forgive my attacker. In the end, I was able to learn a lot about trauma, violence, and healing. I wrote a book about the whole experience later. The title is identity papers.
🙏🏻
Jesus Christ man I don’t blame you
❤
Hi, dear people.
When my husband told me he was going to leave me because of a new love he had found, this of course created an obstacle in my life, because until then I was hugged, kissed, loved, cared for. After that I had to find ways to satisfy my need for loving me myself. So I got to know many more about myself including the most important fact: you can satisfy your needs in so much more ways than just being loved by the significant other. And I still keep exploring new ways of loving me. This has helped me to deepen my love for others, too.
Thank you, Rinpoche🙏🏼.
Hope you are ok. I am having to love myself all over again. I hope I can be as strong as you.
Unique experience. Please allow me to interrupt. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. In Pidhauli (Vaishali) the local deity is Bardiha Baba. Bardiha means the Baba who didn't allow us to stay where he was staying. Bardiha Baba is the Buddha no doubt because he didn't allow the crowd of Lichavies to stay with him in Bandagama. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to Buddhists.
Your Husband made big mistake. Feel great
An important lesson in life.

I discovered cancer in my 22s and never have I learned to appreciate life and pay attention to my health like I am doing now. I was taking too many things in life for granted and drifting through life like a zombie but after that, I am really living life.

I will reflect on your words and see what I view as obstacles in my current life. It usually is my limited beliefs about what is happening and having a narrow viewpoint.
One example for me was I was very afraid of death so I became very curious about death and started to companion people who are dying at the local hospice

Thank you so much for enlightening me during my worse time Rinpoche la
Thank you very much Master🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Dear teacher, can you please teach how to forgive and find peace for someone who lost own health, everything and everybody in this terrible war in Ukraine? I want to help these people to find meaning in their life. I have no idea how to do it. I only have desire, but I need some tools. 💞🙏👌
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
❤❤❤❤❤may you live long may you continue to teach dear Rinpoche I shall remain eternally grateful
As a teacher, the schedule changes every year, giving free time at different moments of the day, or more-or-less longer courses from half-an-hour to an-hour-and-a-half. So every year is an opportunity to develop new approaches to teach, and dedicate free time to different activities!

I think I was bit arrogant …but lesson taught by life now I am a humble and a thankful person. I am more aware than ever before. I find joy , true meaning of compassion and gratitude.
I was also arrogant. Buddhism cooled me down.
🙏Namaste Rinpoche, will you consider to set a live time meditation practice once a month. So, we can all practice with you at the same minute and/or synchronize.
You're right! I also suffer with panic attacks but I have started meditation and watching your videos. I can see a huge difference and it's the best experience of my life. Thank you for being an angel in disguise! 🙏🏻
Спасибо, Ринпоче! Тергар - сила!😊 🇷🇺
Thank you for your videos, I love your laughter, it always makes me happy. When I was 16, I had a great physical problem, I was paralyzed for 6 months. Then I started yoga because doctors said"no sports " and me OK, I will do yoga for my back so. That opens my mind and shows me spiritual ways to get happy 😊. Now I am in good health. ❤

🙏🙏🙏 Tashi delek rinpoche la ... I have been following you for almost 3 or 4 years .....the awareness meditation helped me a lot ..... I was also attacked by panic attack and uncontrollable thoughts and emotions but with the help of your teachings My life have become stable. Many thoughts and emotions that I don't like are still there but they don't create that much trouble as before .... Thank you very much for your teachings...🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much! Yes, I have a serious low back disorder that grew worse. It has been hard on my family, but it is a blessing in disguise too. All the time that I used for tedious little jobs in my earlier life, I mostly dropped out of that. I love to go for walks and do some walking meditation on my way through nature. Of course, the disease is no joke but still also to my advantage. And I have so much more understandig of people with serious life issues. ☺🙏
Hello! I also have problems with my lower back: it was a huge obstacle to driving and meditation. As it turns out, I have very hard back muscles, like ropes. He began to sleep on the hard floor, on Nisha’s wooden pillow. Many pains are gone! But you have to manually destroy muscle triggers: Theracane, trigger point
This is very profound. Pain may be harsh sometimes, but it can also be isuch a powerful Master. Thank you for your Presence 🙏!
No pain no gain
Merci Rinpoché, vous êtes inspirant ❤ om mani padme houng 💖💗🙏

Yes, great timing. Exactly what I needed to hear. I just gained a couple of new teachers and lost a couple of problems.
Thank you Rimpoche
Very usefull teaching ❤🙏☀️
simple reflection. wonderful. always wanted to visit Nepal. It is a location I have always had a place for in my thought but never throughout my life researched or educated myself about. Without pushing.... this connection has eventually come my way. I am now fifty years of age and am happy to have discovered that Buddhism is the learning this life is drawn to. It had actually lived a Buddhist trajectory without ever realising it. Mostly because the surroundings it dwells among teach Judaic Christianity.
it is a pity there has been no great investment (for current generations) into international travel without using the oil industry. as you know: to use an oil industry is an aggressive act towards earth, the good health of a natural environment, and the lives living amidst the habitations. I therefore do not help fund the maintenance of its use. This fact limits the locations this life can visit. Perhaps some day soon we can travel on an electric train service that permits lives the possibility to travel great distances and visit such a wonderful country and habitat as Nepal is.
Thank you for your peaceful messages and supportive instruction.
南无阿弥陀佛🙏
Panic attacks have had a huge impact on me as well. At the time, I thought my life was over, but now I've realized they taught me a lot.
How did you come out?

Rinpoche, I found you on CZcams many years ago and subscribed immediately, but I didn't know you were in Kathmandu! I am planning to visit Nepal towards the end of this September. I was actually planning my trip with a Nepali friend through email today! And then your video showed up among CZcams's suggestions. :) Now I'm learning you live in Kathmandu! What a nice coincidence! I was planning to go to a meditation center while I'm there. I will definitely be visiting your monestery! 🙏

Obstacles: a damaged temple leads to a new temple, or a better repaired temple. Improvements
Anger: how to control
Fear: a really big issue in everyone’s life with the fear / phobia of death being the main one eg fear of spiders or snakes may be due to the knowledge that their venoms can / will kill. Otherwise the creature is utterly harmless, only the venom is not. But Death, Itself………
Hatred: is another issue together with Anger, but I have a solution to this issue which really releases us from Hatred.
Overall, the video highlights the importance of seeing challenges as opportunities for learning and development.
🙏🏻
See you in Kathmandu
The Obstacle is the way, as the Stoics would say.

Yongey Rinpoche, You shared your truth here, I didn't know these things happened to you, and yet i did because i sensed and seen in a walking awake daydream all that you've said happened, and it was some time ago... i always wondered... Joy for you then, excellent and appropriately so...
FYI... an old man with terrible nightmares once said he felt sorry for me because his terrors end when he awakens, and that is when mine begin, and i don't like to sleep much for the chaos on waking again... obstacles eh? G__ Bless...

THE LESSON
Self-antidote of a problem:
1. Think how can be transformed it in an opportunity.
2. Ask how can I learn from it?
3. Ask how can I grow from it?
OR
1. Awareness:
- Identify the beliefs:
- ...
- Observe them clearly:
- ...
2. Ask questions:
- Why do I believe what I believe?
- ...
- Can I find examples where it's not true?
- ...
- What assumptions am I making?
- ...
- How do I know it's true?
- ...
- Identify gaps in your beliefs:
- ...
3. Reframing:
- Ask yourself about more realistic and constructive alternatives.
- ...
- Integrate them into your new belief system through repetition, just as you've come to integrate erroneous ones:

Have an ear infection while listening to this!
I practiced listening Surah (chapter) REHMAN from Holy Quran worked for healing physical and spiritual diseases. It is a great remedy to meditate and reconnect your soul to Super Power.

Just casually explaining how he almost died😂. This guy is fearless ❤
Yes, he became deathly ill during his wandering.
For me not having much money became the root of my practise to learn to spend even less money and through that become more free 🌌
I'm 40 years old and live in the center of beautiful Heidelberg Germany. I inhabit a flat with 2 students, to save money. I can walk to work (ICU nurse), but I have an old used bike for less then 200 bucks. I don't need to travel. Heidelberg is paradise. No car, no kids. I only work part time so I have enough money for my hobbies: Bouldering, Running, Gaming on Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (when our house burns down, I can't lose those games, I own them in the cloud). Life is beautiful nowadays, why would I waste it at work. I only buy cloths when I really need them, mostly cheap.
You can eat healthy for 5 bucks a day (coffee included). I consider whole grain pasta to be healthy, but you should have them split up in to maximum 2 meals a day, and with a good amount of healthy plant seed oils (I prefer olive). Other than that I eat nuts and vegetables. Only drink water, coffee, and tea without milk or sugar. If you're vegan have your vit.B12 and a good source of omega-3 fatty acids (like algae oil), maybe vit.D if you're a nightshift worker or not out in the sun much, and you're good. I'm 40 years old, athletic, everyone thinks I'm much younger. Take good care of your bodies folks and enjoy life 💟
I wanna learn imotions and thought due to this I am in dipression please help me

Good morning sir😊... Please explain me what do you mean by panic become your friend?
This is how I understood this: he mentioned that it was like a friend because it helped him find motivation to meditate deeper. So he changed his thinking about panic, instead of being afraid of it: panic of the panic- and fighting it, he decided to view it as a friend, an opportunity to practice meditation. So when he changed his limited belief about what panic is, it was no longer viewed as something to fight, but rather to accept and even welcome into life. Often thoughts and feelings come and we have no control over it. When we try to resist them and judge them, it creates more problems. Observing it without that allows the storm to pass. For myself, I think of it as the weather passing, what's the point of fighting the weather?

Hi meditating yesterday. Chanted 3 hrs Saturday and 3 hrs yesterday. There was a chanting event for Habibi Lal. Teachers who have passed. After chanting meditated. Suddenly Habibi Lal not in costume plain white dress hair pulled back. No makeup. I was not surprised dead people talk to me especially if they are in TROUBLE. She looked serious and said I don't like you. I said I wish you had something sooner. Please leave and never come back. She was gone and I was able to see the seduction in the dancing. Only Tai chi and Ba duan Jing.
I was able to meditate today. To Daiquing Tana wind song. As I dissolved into space I was the vast expanse of dark water. I saw Habibi Lal dancing. I flew into a darkened tent and saw Quan Yen.
She was a young woman maybe 18. I said mother what do you want me to do. I have surrendered my will. She was wearing a black silk long dress with bunches of. Flowers on it. Her hair was in two buns one on each side of her head. She started to change sizes. She was 10 she was 6 she was 2 then she was 12 then she was 3. First she had a teapot white in her hand. Then she had a dove in her hand. She leaned forward from her waist and smiled at me.
She said peace. Peace. Make peace.
Then I saw a khaki stage curtain and a man I have seen once in a while waving at me. He s an older man in a khaki brown uniform waving at me. Then I saw my grandma Foerster dressed in buckskin dress with pigtails standing in the desert making a circle with her rit arm pointing right. To me it means keep going don't stop. It was over.

Liberation means liberation from mortal life. It does NOT mean liberation from the suffering IN life. Liberation is not some power that allows you to be cool with mortality. The people who think there's no escape from reincarnation and think that Nirvana/Moksha is some kind of way to put up with it are WRONG. Nirvana/Moksha is an ESCAPE from mortal life. Look around you, this life is NOT acceptable, Nirvana or no Nirvana. DO NOT be afraid to ask the Divine Mother for something better. She wants you to, it's the very purpose of all this war and corruption. It's to push you into her arms by making you yearn for SOMETHING BETTER!
Very well said! Mate, cheers
How do you escape from the mortal world
