How good was Mario Gotze actually? #GOAT

As a German: We don't fault him. We just think he made a huge mistake when he went to Bayern Munich. He really needed more playing time and regular matches goint the full length and Bayern wasn't giving him that playing time. Of course injuries and his sickness also played a role, but after all those years of being "just" a substitute player you can tell, that he didnÄt turn out to be the next Messi, or the best German player or even a top level player. I really don't think that's his fault, but he ended up never living up to his full potential and that is actually rather sad than anything else.

Always going to be some toxic fans. Iniesta would get ovations from away crowds when subbed out for Barca, even when the home team was losing. Did that happen for Goetze too? Even today some Barca fans still despise Neymar even though he had signed an extension and then PSG came up with this ungodly amount to trigger the buyout clause. Those headhunting deals have done a lot of damage to football.

The metabolism disorder was the main reason of his downfall.
He lost everything that had made him great before, agility, pace and dribbling.
One could already see that in 2014 but it stayed undetected until he joined with Dortmund again in 2016, which is strange.

Why am i so sure? cuz i have the same sickness and it really affects everything, not just performance but also your life. Götze was so goddamn overrated. Litterally every other player of the legendary mannschaft of 2014 was more important and more consistent. You look at players like Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Müller and Klose and tell me he is on their level? Not even close. He had one legendary goal and I'm glad he scored, but in that final, Schweinsteiger is the true hero. He sacrificed everything, litterally bled for his team and nation. Götze only got the chance for the goal because Klose wasnt as fit as he used to be.

His goal was incredible, but it was one moment to shine and he just delivered, nothing more. Götze and Schürrle were jokers for the german national team for a reason. They were young and had great potential, yet they were inconsistent. You tell me, that Klose, who was one of the most consistent strikers of all time, would not have scored after that flank? o dont know why everybody focus so much on his one lucky goal on WC ... he dint even play most of the games so the final ... he came in and scored that one goal ... thats not even 1% of the glory to even get to the final thx to the 11 great players in the squad 2014! and in 2011 and 2012 he was good jeah but everybody looks good in a wordl class team that worked perfekt at this time ... after that without that team he never ever again played really good not for bayern and not for dortmund after ... from 2013 to 2020 he only played 140 games in 7 years thats nothing ... and most of the games he wasnt in the first squad ... he was overrated his whole career ... he is a good casual player nothing more and most of the fans dont even remember he scored that one wc goal cause not that one goal was the magic moment 2014

He's a legend in Bayern, the German national team and is still known as one of the best in his position to play the game. He was just recently called to be in the Ballon D'or Dream Team for Christ sake.

He's successful and seems happy. I as a German Dortmund fan am truly happy for him at least and really hope he found his inner peace and happiness.
I hate it when other Germans, especially BVB and Bayern supporters trash him. I mean he had dreams, made a bad decision (or at least made it too early), had bad luck concerning physical health and had to adapt to his new body, which he did. Meanwhile Götze also admitted that it was a mistake to return to Dortmund, although Klopp desperately wanted him to come to Liverpool. I still believe that Götze would have become very successful again with Klopp's help, because his dribbling skills and talent for quick surprise actions and passes still make him one of the potentially best performers very similar to Messi... (assuming he is in top form regarding his mental and physical health, and Klopp would be able to help him to attain this level again, of course)
