Yeah I have also noticed this in many many couples and I had given this explanation to my mind.. the couples mostly have similar die, similar life style, similar culture, almost everything is similar. They face almost similar situation most of the time. So, whatever change the body goes is somewhere similar for both of them. That's why over a long period of time, they start looking somewhat similar.
Also, the facial features have similarities when two people belong to a common place. for example Hilly people have similar facial features. And when an outsider looks at them, he/she may easily believe them to be siblings
