The Sennheiser MD409N Vs. The Sennheiser MD409 U3

Sennheiser made a few different versions of their famous MD409 Dynamic Microphones! This video compares the 1960's N version and the 1980's U3 version. I also added a Shure SM57 into the lineup for reference!

Love the idea of putting the 57 in there. It being so recognizable makes it reliable for comparisons

I would be happy with either of them! The U3 sounds a little darker to my ears. I was surprised how good they sound on the acoustic. I like your Vox too and that Matchless is killer!

I think the difference it most noticeable on the acoustic. The 409n is just a hair more bright and clear sounding. I just got a 409n in today, and I'm super excited to put it up against my e906s and 408s and see how they compare.

Did you exchange the tugel for XLR? Are these available somewhere? Have a couple of md408n that can use a upgrade to xlr
