It fascinates me how similar wood working and shoe making are. Chisels, knives, hammers, nails, stain, sanding, etc. Many same techniques such as making oversized pieces just to trim down perfectly. Glueing layers together to form the perfect shape. Then applying the perfect finish.

The leather material is 1.2-1.4 mm thick and is skived to the appropriate thickness on each parts for thinner and dressy looks.

you take me back in time. my grandfather was a cobbler. He fixed and made customized and made-to-measure shoes. In the seventies he was called by a great Italian designer to teach his workers how to make leather and handmade shoes. I still have his tools in my house and I hope that this art will never be erased
