My school does not teach German so I am learning by myself, I'm starting off with culture and music and I thoroughly enjoy their music so far! Although I wouldn't say this is "cultural" I do quite enjoy the beat and the lyrics even though I don't quite understand the words yet!

German language is more logic and deep than the other languages and i think that's why it's little bit confused and harder than the other languages because most philosophers come from Germany which means that they have a big language because when you don't Have enough word's to express feelings and thoughts it's not easy to become deep thinker.
I guess for some. But English was created like German from Latin. And english actually derived a bit from German. I started learning German a couple years ago and picked up on it easier than i did French and Korean. I feel languages like Arabic and Hebrew are a bit harder. Especially for us latin based languages. Because like German, English has so many words which makes it harder for some. To me i feel it makes it easier because there's more than one way to say things.

Fran Bow Dagenhart I will start by saying I'm Italian (as you can see looking at my nickname), so I can't speak for other languages speakers. I think it's a matter of sound, in fact I think German sounds rude because in the words there are a lot of harsh consonants which embitter the sound. Besides a lot of words end with a consonant (or more than one) and in Italian, in which almost all the words end with a vocal, this sounds a bit rude, or rather, a bit harsh (in the other western languages final consonants aren't as pronounced as German final consonants or aren't even pronounced). Anyway I like your language though it's very different from Italian. P.S. If there are some errors I'm sorry, but I write it quickly:)
Fran Bow Dagenhart It depends. If I succeeded in making time for study a new language I would be happy to learn German! Surfing on internet I've also noticed German it's a bit similar to English and Latin (especially Latin grammar structure), which are languages I already know.
I want to study it because during the war, well closer to post-war I guess, my great-grandfather had a mistress in western Germany and we have a series of letters we want to translate from her. I know Irish already because it is used as a household language. I think the reason in the states it is considered rude is because of the war, before World War II, German was the second most popular foreign language in the states. But, when Hitler came to power the U.S. opinion on Germany and German people made a complete 180. So I think the reason German is considered rude here is a remnant of war propaganda. I could be wrong though.

Matteo Cåp A lot of people think german is rude...I don't even know why, can you tell me?
Maybe german is rude in some points like when you live or grew up in a "Ghetto"...these are not the best places to live sometimes but i live in one (Reinickendorf) where a lot of people are really really friendly!
Or it Just Sounds like that when you are actually angry or when you scream or something.German sounds just like every other language :)
P.s: German is a very hard language to learn like we dont just have "the" we have "der die das" or "ein eine einer" and some words are hard to pronounce like "Hochzeitseinladung" wich means "Wedding invitation" :D

Fran Bow Dagenhart I will start by saying I'm Italian (as you can see looking at my nickname), so I can't speak for other languages speakers. I think it's a matter of sound, in fact I think German sounds rude because in the words there are a lot of harsh consonants which embitter the sound. Besides a lot of words end with a consonant (or more than one) and in Italian, in which almost all the words end with a vocal, this sounds a bit rude, or rather, a bit harsh (in the other western languages final consonants aren't as pronounced as German final consonants or aren't even pronounced). Anyway I like your language though it's very different from Italian.

Fran Bow Dagenhart It depends. If I succeeded in making time for study a new language I would be happy to learn German! Surfing on internet I've also noticed German it's a bit similar to English and Latin (especially Latin grammar structure), which are languages I already know.
I want to study it because during the war, well closer to post-war I guess, my great-grandfather had a mistress in western Germany and we have a series of letters we want to translate from her. I know Irish already because it is used as a household language.
I think the reason in the states it is considered rude is because of the war, before World War II, German was the second most popular foreign language in the states. But, when Hitler came to power the U.S. opinion on Germany and German people made a complete 180. So I think the reason German is considered rude here is a remnant of war propaganda. I could be wrong though.
