  • Build A Stone Wall - Install Railing, protect the safety of the farm.
    --------------------
To protect the safety of me, my family and all those who visit the farm, today I built a stone wall on the edge of the pond and installed a railing in front of my stone house. As you can see, from the shore to the bottom of the pond is quite a deep distance. Below the pond is made entirely of concrete. Therefore, if you carelessly fall into the pond, it is very dangerous. My children and family also often come to visit, I am very worried about everyone's safety. So I immediately started construction as soon as I thought of this dangerous problem.
    Have fun watching the video!

I really look forward to your long videos, maybe for people who watch your videos for the first time, they will think it's easy what you're doing, because of the equipment you use. But for your loyal viewers who have been following your life on the slopes of this mountain from the beginning, they will definitely see it with "Wow".
From you sleeping under a cave to having a house made of stone that must have good durability, I imagine that in 200 years someone who walks on the slopes of your mountain and finds your buildings will feel like someone who finds a temple in the present. Keep up the good work.

So you believe everything you see on CZcams, although there are elements of truth here, he's out to make MONEY, it's not all that you think!! he has electricity running to the place, which he mistakingly included in one of his videos and now makes sure the angle of that view is not repeated. The addition of the fence is a very good idea. To further ensure the safety of children and visitors. the addition of a bamboo lattice between the fence posts will prevent children from slipping between the posts.
I have to agree with the other suggestions. Fired clay roof tiles will make for a more permanent solution to your roof. You may need to replace some of your wooden roof planks with new ones. This will prevent rotting and collapse.

Duong, if you want a quick fix for your roof, mix some liquid mortar using fine sand and apply a thin layer to the roof. It will soak into the holes in the wood and harden making the wood waterproof and resistant to rot. This would only take one or two days. To prevent the mortar being washed away by the rain before drying, you could cover it with some palm leaves until the mortar has dried.
Ideally you could make tiles for the roof, but that would take more time. You could make clay tiles, or cement tiles, or you could try making stone tiles. I have seen some stone near the river that looked like it would be easy to split into thin sheets with a chisel.

  • @FaeraGaelwyn
    @FaeraGaelwyn Před 19 dny +1

As a temporary solution to the leaking roof, if there are any resin producing trees in your area you could tap them and boil down some resin to spot-fix gaps in the roof. Could probably use the rubber trees for it too if there's no resin.
Another thought I've had since seeing your videos of ruined crops. Since there is ample water immediately adjacent to the field, it might be a good idea to do a controlled burn of the dry plots (one at a time) to remove the pests as well as the weeds that are stealing nutrients from the crops. Enrich the soil and remove the bad things.
As is always the case with fire though, take care and do it bit by bit to be safe.
It's been a joy to see this project evolve over time.

@@PrimitiveSkillsnet you could improve your farms soil by putting down a layer of wood chips on the beds and leaving it to compost for a year.
That'll give you a rich Loamy soil that vegetables will love growing in.
You could also use some bio char (ground charcoal) each year to help maintain moisture and nutrients in the soil.

  • @xjoelportox

Kind of interesting seeing how too move big stones. The ancient knobs seem to keep the rock straight, on sometype of rail transport system. And would of helped in connecting foundation blocks.
Using these rocks and mortar arent good for walls, because the mortar will lose its bond, with heavy rocks. ......23:20..... Should made alot of bricks at the pond lower wall.

My friend, thank you for helping ease my anxiety and giving me strength to get my own work done. A suggestion for your roof: Would it be possible to use the rubber tree farm to make a full cover under your roof tiles? Like a tarp or blanket but made with painted on rubber? You could also use the rubber as a quick fix for now. 😊 Thanks again, you're a wonderful human being.

So, because your new pond wall might have dirt and water on one side, you must put holes to allow the water to escape.
As everyone else is suggesting, you need a tile roof if you want to minimize the leaks.
    Good Fortune!

The wall and railing looks like it is fairly secure. But I have built many railings on porch decks and I would add a bamboo fence like the one you made to keep the chickens out of the garden because you're good at building fences out of bamboo and the railings have large enough openings between the posts for a small child to stumble and fall through the gaps. Also I couldn't see how many nails you used for the top rail but one is not enough I don't think. I like the idea of clay or terracotta shingles with a bamboo rain gutter. The pigs seem ok but maybe a little more food for them might be needed. I don't know how many times a day you feed them, but if they are getting enough food where they are and the access to the barn for shelter, I think they will be less likely to try to escape. I like everything you have built and it is impressive that you have done it by yourself. Keep up the good work. I've watched you since the beginning. Old Man Andy

Hello Duong. There is probably a plant or tree in the area where you live from which resins can be obtained. You could seal the roof with this resin. Maybe you could do it using rubber trees.

    Buen video!
Tengo 2 posibles soluciones, no sé si sirvan:

Hello, short advice in regards of the 2 planks you use as mold for laying mortar and stones; Try making some notches in them (where they meet the guiding pilars) so the bottom of the planks gets in contact with the base layer, that way there wont be an opening that allows material to fall through. Good work, i appreciate all your videos, keep it up!

Some farm animals, especially pigs are naturally aggressive and cannot be tamed. Those are usually harvested young for that reason. People don't really realize just how dangerous pigs and cows can be. So yes, he does need to be careful. If they get loose and go feral, it can be even more dangerous as they have no fear of man like a normal wild pig would.

I think that you should build a fence about three meters in front of the hidden pigs' yard so that the pigs can come out and explore the place around them and thus get used to it. Gradually, you raise the fence surrounding the barn door

Duong, I'm afraid you've overlooked something as you built your retaining wall between your house and the pond, and I don't know how you can fix it, at this point. The retaining wall has no deadmen (long, narrow rocks that are part of the wall and extend well back into the soil behind the wall for support). Without deadmen, the wall can very easily be slowly pushed over by the soil behind it, especially as that soil becomes wet. You might be able to buttress it from the pond side, but, as it stands now, you have tons of Earth on one side of the wall, and nothing on the other; it's only a matter of time before that wall tips over.
