  • Company Tenochtitlan from Mexico :"Dances, musics and costumes of the Andes Cordillera " : 20 dancers, 10 musicians, 500 costumes! The dancers were very proud of their Aztec origin! Admire them in the " Fire Dance "! (The main dancer is not afraid of being burnt !) And enjoy the show!

To think our ancestors were actually part of ceremonies like this for prosperity, worship, and war. Imagine being in a thick jungle, being one of a tribe of warriors with this energy flowing through you, just being in that moment connected to the Earth.

Most Mexicans know dis and I'm pointing out to some ppl tht dont know but dis dance is dedicated to Xiuhtecuhtli (the god of fire) they did this to make Xiuhtecuhtli happy and in exchange he will keep lighting there fire and for tradition also ( he was the creator of life and the oldest god in Aztec culture)

they fall short of power ... the Aztecs danced with even more power ! just imagine
The New Fire Ceremony, also known as the Binding of the Years Ceremony, was a ritual held every 52 years in the month of November on the completion of a full cycle of the Aztec solar year (xiuhmopilli). The purpose of it was none other than to renew the sun and ensure another 52-year cycle. The New Fire Ceremony, or Toxhiuhmolpilia, as the Aztecs themselves called it, was by far the most important event in the religious calendar because, quite simply, if the ceremony failed, then the Aztec civilization would end.

Simply because fact speaks for itself fuckstick. all know for a fact no fucking Azteca had any dress like this. The fabrics did not exist and the coloring is all from cloth brought in from Spanish conquerors while turning them all to mestizo. Basically, Aztecs died out over 600 years ago. So you got no business talkin bout shit you know shit about .. right ´ombre. The white man was 2 millennium ahead of you, no matter how smart you think Azteca´s was. they had birth registry...get of yer fat ass and show us an Azteca birth heraldry ya fat fuck!

Actually it's pretty traditional. The Natives can tell what is for show. The regalia, with the feathers, r getting more elaborate, but they use the feathers correct. It's difficult to tell if u r not native and not familiar with the intricacies of Native dancing. The dance styles are different from different regions. However, the Aztec uses the short choppy step a lot, like a lot of the South West tribes. It's all from one heart.

I don't understand the symbolism of fire.
It was the sun, the flint knife, killing, human sacrifice, and most of all blood that were the main things which kept the Aztecs going. Without all these they wouldn't know the "right" way to live. I'm sure any rituals would always be associated with religion, have far more participants, and always actual death of humans -- sometimes willingly.
    This was the real Aztecs.
This is not a derisive comment about Aztecs by the way. . . They would learn how to kill by age 9.
They lived in perfect harmony with the natural environment. Social classes were district, consummate understanding of ecology, cosmology, architecture, engineering, etc. Their society was not primitive but highly sophisticated and nuanced.
