- In order to hit a good shot, you must hit the ball first then take a divot. This is how to do it.

if only you'd been around giving this lesson 45 years ago, it would have saved me countless hours of total frustration(and a few thrown clubs!) Back then the golf magazines never really talked about it; lots of other stuff but hitting ball then taking a divot was something of a secret that you got either by watching professional golfers eg at Augusta, AND understanding what they were doing (commentators tended to avoid explaining what was happening), or taking a lot of expensive lessons from a pro - it was pretty much a 'closed shop' until the internet & CZcams. Keep taking the 'mystery' out of it all for many of us recreational golfers....many thanks.
Great video Jimmy. Learning more from you than the 570 other pro golf coaches I've watched on-line. 😄Thank you as always. [ from Surrey UK ]
Love to hear it
Loving the videos Jimmy. I'm using your mantra "turn back, wave to the camera (slight pause) lateral move and sweep the grass" , in my new, smooth, unhurried swing. Just need to get a camera to wave to on the backswing now. 😅
Looking forward to some decent golfing weather here in the rainy UK. Thanks very much 👍
Love those cigars, your smoke buddy and a good point that you make I’m always hitting the ground first before I hit the ball. It’s hard to cure me of that because I’m 75 years old.
Thank you, Jimmy. All of your instruction videos have made me realize that the scores will come down without smashing the ball as hard as I can. Simple and makes the game more enjoyable. Have an amazing day!
Wow, just wow. I started playing in 1991 while in the military in Hawaii. This is the best I've seen. I'm going to play tomorrow and am going to follow your advice. I'm shooting in the mid 90s and have been for a long time. Thanks again
thats amazing. thanks for watching
Love your explanation, thanks very much. You’re easy to understand. And keeps it simple and fun - play smart and easy less aggravation
Gary player says green side bunker strike that match
Jimmy Trop...is da man!
Love it. Thanks for watching
Those mountains in the background from that bunker are beautiful!
Great view!
Hi Jimmy. Luv your videos. One question. In many of your videos, you mention ball position for irons is back just inside right foot. In this video it appears the ball is in the center of your stance. Is that something you changed?
Thanks for the reminder, Jimmy. Perfect divots btw!
Pretty nice mountain view from the bunker
Man you just speak the truth i played well for many months and dropped my HCP but last 2 weeks i struggled a lot and not knowing what to do like playing golf for the first time and i wanted to quit Golf feeling like i’m a different person totally lost it … but today i knew my mistake was not hitting down on the ball so my swing resume normally after working on hitting down on the ball i felt like my brain is connected again
There you go! Glad you found it
Jimmy, another fantastic video, really helps.
Jimmy don’t forget to mention BALANCE……keep the weight centered in your feet between your heels and toes. I’m still fighting going forward toward my toes and hitting the heel of the clubface a lot. Very important to get solid contact.
Thats not correct. My weight is in my heels. I lift my toes up in my shoes before I hit.
@@TropicanaEntertainmentYes that works too. Keeping my weight between my heel and toes works best for me…..I don’t want to fall forward or backwards when swinging.
Jimmy, love your videos! You keep things nice and simple!
To get the low point of the swing in front of the ball I’ve found having more weight on my lead foot at set-up helps. It means you don’t have to worry about weight transfer in the swing as it’s partly there at the start! What do you think?
Jimmy... been following you since Jan this year. My score has dropped on average 5 strokes and hitting it very solidly. Thank you
Jerry
Makes sense, Genius!
Thanks a lot from Paris Jimmy 🤜🤛
Thanks for watching from Paris!
Great lesson again Jimmy.
Pretty snappy outfit as well!!
Keep the videos coming.
Jerry in Brazil.
Thanks Jerry!!
Hey Jimmy great teaching series. Would you hit some shots and show us the head on view so we can get a better understanding of the swing and ball position? Thanks
Will do.
the attire is 100% Bill Dance
🍀 outstanding!
Thanks for watching
Jimmy, 2 months back you said you must play the ball back on all irons now this video you say ball center which is it I'm confused ?
Ball back. Center at most. Never more than center
@TropicanaEntertainment Thank you Jimmy for the quick response I love your videos I have all my golf buddies watching your videos 👍⛳️
I swear you said ball back except driving,in a previous vid?
I still remember starting out playing this game (I'm 69 now) and an old guy told me exactly the same. He put it like this the ball is a sphere sitting on top of another sphere (planet Earth) Which one will you move if you hit it 1st? 😅
Love it
K.I.S.S. works every time!
By the way, what Irons are you playing? Looks like berillium copper?
Yes sir. Im going to do a club review soon
Hi Jimmy, You might have answered this already, but what are the clubs you are using? Thanks
I dont usually make divots at all. Im i doing something wrong? Improvement opportunities?
Another great one Jimmy! Golfing here in Ohio is a challenge when we get a warm day. Do you make any adjustments though when playing in wet, sloppy ground? Usually I'll take a divot the size of Tennessee, and a little oil comes out of the ground when playing in very soft (almost muddy) turf. Help!
When its soggy I try to make sure 1000% That I hit ball first
Thanks Jimmy! I always appreciate the replies and advice! @@TropicanaEntertainment
I've played golf for 40 plus years and still cant take a divot. Love your videos but I can't make it work
Hi Jim, I’m a little confused, and with me that’s easy, where is the ball position?
In one of your videos you play the irons in the back of your stance, it looks
like now you’re playing the ball in the middle. Straighten me out, please. Ron
Ball is always middle/back. Never forward
That isn't what you say in other videos you say always back and in the bunker too always back?@TropicanaEntertainment
Dumb question but knowing that you say to play the ball back in your stance does your head stay in the middle of your stance and your eyes look back at the ball?
No. Head stay directly between your legs
Hi Jimmy! I bought a 69 wedge from you; however, it doesn't work. It doesn't work for me. Can I return it? Thanks
Doesnt work as in.. its broken?
It doesn't hit the ball far enough to get on the green. The maximum distance is very short. Maybe it designs for men only? Also it's very heavy and long for a lady.
I hate divots
