yes - object position: it's a pre-composed background that slides up and the other background sliding in from the bottom, could be one option.
also you can parent all the layers to a null object and then animate it's position.

How did you import your file? It seems like there are a few initial steps missing.
Most common illustrator to AE plugin is overlord, they(?) drew the legs/body/arms at the beginning and then just transferred the rest
