Command staff above and beyond. 💕 Orderly, precise, and very well trained with nothing but direct calls in the midst of chaos.
Fires like this, shows you how important good command is. Even in a mess, it flows smoothly.
Yup
Even though I am a retired fire captain I wish I could go back in time and hang-out with FDNYs command staff for 6 months or so, to learn from the best at dealing with major complex multiple alarm incidents. They are tops when it comes to managing command and control of major incidents!!! I have read books written by FDNYs retired chiefs and I thoroughly enjoyed reading their management style, but it is nothing like learning and experiencing by being indulged in the mix of the activities! Nice job FDNY!
Right? So many stories to hear.
Yeah
Finally some Satellite action. Not often you see them in use.
Nope pretty rare
Nice job using the street map and Google earth to identify the location and type of structure the FD are dealing with. It’s really helpful for viewers.
Thanks I try my best!
Nice to see you going over the bridge into Staten Island. Thanks for sharing this. Stay safe, Skyler.
I try to when it’s worth it. Tolls add up
@@SkylerFire How much is the VZ bridge these days? If you’re not a resident and do not have EZ-Pass...
@@DBR00 without ezpass $19
Lot of fire chasing out there but yours are by far the best. Keep up the good work and keep the good videos coming.
Always Thanks!
Chief can't go two seconds without someone tapping his shoulder. And he stays cool throughout
Big fire
Great catch of Sat. 5 in operation. 👍🏻
Thanks
You never see it in action. Great shots
Great footage. Very interesting watching and listening to the Command staff work out the water problem. Felt like I was there
Thanks for watching
It`s about time Sat see some action.
Yeah
I had seen this covered by someone else, found yours very informative
Another Great Job by the FDNY and Yourself Skyler with This Coverage!👏
Thanks again!
@@SkylerFire You're Very Welcome Skyler!👍
God bless each of you. Such hard work done with mutual respect. Very special people.
Thanks for watching
Great video ... 1st time i've seen the Satellite in operation since the late 80's ....
Me neither
fantastic video coverage as always
Thanks
Great coverage gman
fantastic video coverage as always..
Thanks a ton
Again bravery in the finest.. Smoke.. Huge flames fuled by Chemicals in an old factory .. Fighters must be still having lung sting for days after this one...
For sure Thanks
Thank you for video
Thanks
Great catch....great video!!
Thx
Great Coverage Skyler
Thanks
Love the truck work.
Thanks for watching
Wow, a Satellite deck gun in action! I don't think I've ever seen it
very rare indeed!
FDNY Robotics?? That is pretty cool!!
Yup
Chief Gorman great guy...
He did a great job
Great video the way you use Google maps is really a great idea keep the hard work up 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Thank you so much 😀
🚒 wow that's so wild for those F.F
Yeah
The accents. The look. The sounds. I miss this.
I hear ya
Thanks for the video. The SATELLITE is fed by 5" LDH !!!!????
5inch or 4inch I forget
sat 5 looks like a brand new truck
It is
Wonder when the Super pumper will be put into service. Saw a picture of it at the shops months ago
Went back to Ferrara
@@SkylerFire I watched the testing in LA for it. Very very excited for it to go into service !
Hi Skyler! Nice scene video ! I listened on Broadcastify 👍
Nice
First time seeing a satellite truck shooting water or foam from the deck gun.
Yup very rare
Ladder 77 out of Stapleton, My stomping grounds
Satellite in ops. Don't see that too much
I was going to say the same exact thing about Sat 5 but I was also wondering instead of smooth bore they had automatic/fog nozzle maybe the water issues could be the reason why they switched.
@@04u2cY that could be. Definitely a busy night on the island for fires
@@PghDon77 it sure was busy on the island I also wanted to it's rare to see satalite in operation not like the 80s and early 90s they were used quite often.
nope first time in ops at a fire for SAT 5
Water issues thanks
What is a satellite truck? Never seen one or heard of them before. Then again, FDNY has units for just about everything.
They carry Large Diameter Hose, Foam, and have a Large Deluge Gun on top. They do not have pumps and are supplied by a Engine company. They are assigned on 2nd Alarms
it’s a cellphone tower building next to it… need the super pumper
Wasn’t here yet.
Very nice!
Thanks
I believe this WAS a factory some years ago, this place looks quite run down! But as to fireload, there is enough of it!
Yeah thanks for watchinf
I here them saying they are having water problems, my ? is could it not be possible to use the water that they have used and are stood in as it looks to be about a foot deep in places
That was early on that they had water issues……..
Nice catch
Thanks
@@SkylerFire By the way Skyler, that was very interesting to hear the discussion regarding the water main size (8”) surrounding the fire location. I’m guessing that those mains are old and they were probably ok for the time they were installed. Great to see the Satellite in operation also. Any word on civilian casualties??? That looked really bad. Thanks, Bob
No Civilian injuries Reported
@@SkylerFire By the Grace of God!!! Unbelievable
The Building on fire is it being used or is it abandoned
used
FDNY Robotics?! What does this mean please?
The ones that do the drone
@@SkylerFire That WAS a quick response!! Thank you.
didn't it burn before? or do all factories look alike
I believe in 2010 they had a fire
Okay I know I'm a little late watching this footage but is that Satellite 5 operating??
Yes
@@SkylerFire wow that's really awesome! I always wanted to see them actually operating at a scene. You have more information about the fdny satellite units and what calls they respond to?
@gregoriocanty2338 satellites respond mostly on 2nd Alarms besides Staten Island on the 10-75…. They also respond on 10-86 and 10-87 foam signals
@@SkylerFire Thank you for letting me know what Satellites respond too. Also had no idea on Staten Island they respond to 10-75
Excuse my British ignorance. I am not a firefighter myself but I come from a family of Firefighters going back three generations. So I know a bit about British firefighting terminology but what does '10-80 10-86 Box 1150' mean, please?
10-80 Hazmat Code
10-86 Foam Code
Box 1150 is the location
@@SkylerFire Ah ok is Box referring to a Box Alarm then? Again sorry for my ignorance?
AWESOME CATCH ON THE FIRE NICE JOB YOU GUYS FDNY BROTHER BE STAY TO ALL TO THE BROTHER
Thanks! Will do!
The different between the black one and the other one
What? The helmets? Black is a FF white is a Chief
@@SkylerFire I’m talking the uniform y’all got different uniforms colors not the chief
Anyone know if the FDNY Robotics unit is a unit that people join after going through the academy or a totally different process?
You have to put in for it. Takes time
Hy
8:07 Khaki Day ?
Those are Fire Marshall’s
@@SkylerFire I know, I just thought it was funny, everyone in full gear then....khakis.
I hope nobody died in the inferno.
Nope
Phew.
great area to go on fire used to live there the dump i rented it had a gas leak building destroyed ha ha matt hope my old upstairs roaches where moved too lol could not happen to a better low class of people
Jesus Loves You
why is so many fighters on standoff, it seems to be only in US not seeing this behaviour in other countries
Because the US is about safety..............................
Or because it was a surround and drowned. In us we do more interior attacks then over seas and we haven’t learned the benefits of high water pressure firefighting.
I could be wrong, but they need guys to cycle in and out of fighting. Air only lasts so long, gives guys a chance to swap bottles and on deck guys are either waiting their turn or waiting for an assignment.
You are way to close to the scene you have no business being that closrc
Don't like it? Don't watch. FDNY members aren't know for being shy, if he was in the way or putting himself in danger they'd say something. If those on scene are okay with his presence than I am too.
was in a safe distance and away from the collapse zone. Thanks
He’s fine.
@@DC-ih8bv thanks
Bad camera guy! Go away, troll. He is fine and kept a safe distance.
