  • Though he’s worked with writer-director Christopher Nolan for over two decades, Cillian Murphy steps into his largest studio lead role to date in Nolan’s upcoming biopic, Oppenheimer. Starring as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man appointed to head the top-secret labs for the Manhattan Project, Murphy discusses with Collider’s Steve Weintraub the preparation for this role and what it was like to "experiment and explore" on set with Nolan.
    With a uniquely penned screenplay unlike any Murphy’s received prior, Oppenheimer presented him with the opportunity to once again explore the existential themes Nolan films favor, this time as the leading man. Dubbing himself a “Nolan veteran,” Murphy has appeared as a supporting actor in many of the director’s most notable features, from his take on the Dark Knight in 2005’s Batman Begins to the Oscar-winning Inception. Now, he leads an ensemble cast alongside Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Gary Oldman, Josh Hartnett, and David Dastmalchian.
    During this one-on-one interview, Murphy describes what it was like receiving that phone call from Nolan, how long he had to prepare for filming, and why this screenplay blew his mind. We also find out what kind of feedback Nolan gives on set, which Oppenheimer scene was the most challenging to shoot, and what it will take for Murphy to do a 28 Months Later sequel.

    Anthropoid is an incredible film and up there with the best of Cillian's performances. About equal parts war-drama, spy thriller, action & suspense with an appropriate amount of romance. The final confrontation in the film's climax portrays a battle as thrilling & horrifying with the authenticity of Saving Private Ryan. Similar gritty and naturalistic cinematography grounds the narrative in a tense atmosphere. Truly an incredible film.

    Cillian's relationship with Nolan since Batman Begins has made him a superstar. In fact, I would love for him to come back to DC once we liberate the brand from being undermind by Zaslav and those scummy political executives at WB. He would make a great Brainiac and if we can revive Man of Steel 2 and make sure that Sasha Calle returns as Supergirl along with either Henry Cavill or Wes Bentley as Superman for the long held up live action sequel to the 2013 film, we'd make sure that Zack, Goyer and Nolan return to set things right once the brand is in the right hands and that we purge Hollywood of all these DEI and ESG hacks working for Blackrock, Vanguard and Statestreet.

      I don't think it's obnoxious. Cillian is not Brad Pitt famous, many people might not be familiar with him. And it gave Cillian a chance to promote a film he really loves about Ireland.

    • @adminsucks8806
      @adminsucks8806 Před 10 měsíci +1

      He is not sympathetic about it. My boss is like that. You can't go randomly to toilet break when there is an urgent matter or meeting happening. He told me to plan my toilet break honestly I thought it was ridiculous until I planned a project of my own, being the team manager you see this people takes turn to go toilet. It just breaks the momentum. Plan your shit people.

    • @nataliegray3972
      @nataliegray3972 Před 10 měsíci +1

      That’s not what he was implying.. he was implying that Nolan was strict on it, basically like a teacher at school- he expects them to plan their breaks and probably doesn’t allow them to go whenever they want since he doesn’t want them to lose focus on their acting
