- Maelstrom Products have kindly provided me with a new SIB to use, a 3.8 metre aluminium deck. This boat gives me the ability to take on grander adventures and reach previously inaccessible fishing grounds.
I took advantage of the perfect sea conditions to steam 9 miles out to a favourite local reef of mine that I haven’t visited in some years. After a 40 minute ride cruising @ 18 knots I was straight into fish on the lures.
I was extremely fortunate to encounter a ginormous pod of dolphins and play with them for a while. They showed a lot of interest in the boat and myself, I don’t usually get excited about dolphins as they aren’t uncommon around the coast of Cornwall but never have I seen them in these numbers.

Superb video Oban.
Really enjoyed coming along with you on that trip!
& GREAT FISHING!
Loved those dolphins must have been surreal seeing so many! 🐬🐬
Good evening Oban. Thank you for taking the Maelstrom 380 Alu to the water.
Great vid, really simple and humble which isn’t the case for all fishing CZcamsrs in Cornwall…
Love the new boat mate, really enjoyed this video and glad YT recommended your channel to me.
Thanks for the feedback, I’m happy it found its way to you
Brilliant video!!!
Another cracking video awesome to see every bit of wildlife you encounter keep it going !!!!
Top video as always and the new sib looks great.
Excellent- well done- I think dolphins around a small boat are one of life's great experiences
Absolutely, it’s such a special thing to experience
Great to have you back on a proper sib. And great fishing and video as normal
Bloody hell boi you change your boat more often than I change my socks! 🤣 Looks good though. 😀
They’re not really mine but it’s good fun 🤷🏼♂️😂
What a great video, thank you
Brilliant content . Well done and looking forward to much more.
Great video mate, keep up the great content 🎣

Great video. The Dx stands for dealer exclusive 👍🎣
Thanks for letting me know, for some reason I had in my head that it stands for Deluxe 🙄😂
love looe, trailered my boat down ther from scotland
what a great day
Awesome video, my friend! I always drop what I'm doing and tune in whenever I see you've uploaded something. Keep it up!! p.s. I just did some digging on your cuckoo wrasse, a fish I hadn't heard of before, and it turns out females do transition to males at a certain age! Its no wonder you were stumped on the sex of that fish! Looking forward to the next video...Bermuda misses you.
I can understand him well and have changed boats several times. I'm currently traveling in Eckernförde Bay with a 3.60m aluminum rib and 20hp Mercury... Greetings
Where did you get the tohatsu outboard cover from? I couldn’t hear where you said in the last video 👍
Where did you get your console thats holding your fishfinder and battery do you have a link
Where did you get your engine cover from
What size is the sib. ? Length. And motor size. ?
Cracking video Oban, you never know what your going to catch out there 🎣🎣 What's the rubber waterproof your wearing .
Got it years ago I think it’s made by pelagic
Another great video bud. I was wondering if it's my TV's fault but the aspect ration of the video is strange. It's not landscape there's big black voids at the sides, almost like the pic is square which is a shame cos can't see the bend on the rod??? Maybe it's a GoPro setting 4:3 rather than 16:9.
I’ll have a look at that cheers for letting me know
I just did my first sib fishing trip ever in north Wales. Managed to catch two small mackerel lmao. Go me. Oban, on your 25g sandeel lure, do you use a weight? And, if not, do you just have a swivel at the end of braid or whatever it is and clip the lure straight to it, or do you have another length of line like a leader after the swivel with the lure tied to that at the end? For small boat fishing (I have a 7ft ugly stik gx2 and cheap shimano reel), it's hard to know if shock leaders etc are worthwhile, short casts and all that. Thx for the inspiration, it's you and fish locker got me into this :).
I’ve just bought a sib and got a tohatsu 9.8 hp for it I’m going to get wheels for it next and I’m just wondering is it difficult to pull the boat up and down slipways
You should be able to manage that just fine on your own. If it’s hard work just carry the engine separately
Am I reading this video title right, did you go 9 miles from land?
Really enjoyed the video. Just got a 3.3 aircat myself. Can you tell me what rod your using for the heavy jigs please?
Enjoy it! I’m using a HTO Nebula SP but I can’t recommend the brand anymore as I’ve had too many problems with the blanks
@@obanonthewater7796 thanks good to knoiw, what gram rating ?
This one’s rated to 150g vertically but I’ve done 250g comfortably
@obanonthewater7796 thanks , thinking about heavy jigs now myself
Great vid
Can you tell us where you launched?
Mill pool car park in Looe 🎣⚓️
Cheers buddy.@@123boat
@@reefnreefer Got to keep an eye on the tides with this slip so not end up stranded 👍⚓️
You have big tubes, very impressive🤳
Take your time lifting the fish from the depths, play them n let them run if they want to dive (particularly over the type of clearer ground that you're favouring).
They shouldn't blow their swim bladders if you take time with the fish.
Hi. Stay away from shark waters!
Your paddle tail looks rigged upside down to me.
No, that’s how they are rigged
A good video but charging headlong into dolphins like that was very irresponsible.
I've watched so many of your lure fishing videos, love them. But now you're putting some petrified little critter on your hook.😢. Lost me.
Not a fan of live baiting? Undoubtedly the best method for catching big fish
