      Khojaly was an Azerbaijani-populated town of some 6,300 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast of Azerbaijan SSR, also housing the region's only airport in 1992.[10] The town was subject to daily shelling and total blockade by Armenian forces during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Without supply of electricity, gas, or water, it was defended by the local forces consisting of about 160 lightly armed men. The Armenian forces, along with some troops of the 366th CIS regiment, launched an offensive in early 1992, forcing almost the entire Azerbaijani population of the enclave to flee, and committing "unconscionable acts of violence against civilians" as they fled.[1]
      The massacre was one of the turning points during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. The death toll given by the Azerbaijani authorities is 613 civilians, including 106 women and 63 children.[4]

    She's literally one of the oldest people on earth, I can't believe I never knew! She would have been an infant upon the genocide's initiation, hopefully having no memory of its trauma. Incredible that people from this era are still alive. I watched "The Promise"; the medz yeghern was as horrific as the Holocaust.

    Germany 1945: Acknowledges its history. Apologizes for holocaust. Educates entire generations to prevent similar horrors happening in the future.
    Turkey 2024: Still denies Armenian Genocide in public. Brags about it in private.

      No :))) germany lost the war, they were forced to acknowledge the holocaust but turkey didnt so west couldnt make us believe their made up narrative. we know that white people killed our ancestors in balkans before ww1, and planned another genocide in anatolia by supporting armenians and greeks, luckily we acted first and relocated all christians living within our country.
      I recommend you to do something about black and brown immigrant invaders before they become majority in your homeland

      Because there is a big difference. Get educated well.
      the term genocide is inappropriate here. Western countries abuse the suffering of victims for their own interests. It is also hypocritical that no attention is ever paid to the genocide committed by Armenians and Azeris in Nogorno Karabagh in the early 1990s. hypocritical West that is currently supporting a genocide that Zionist Israel is carrying out on Palestinians. I have no words for it. The origin of all misery in the Middle East, Africa, Australia, perhaps the whole world is the West. both in history and today. they do nothing but spread lies and create wars. they also do not shy away from achieving their goals

    • @Awakeningspirit20
      @Awakeningspirit20 Před měsícem

      Literally like denying the Holocaust. They aren't just denying, they have whole government functions devoted to spinning insane narratives and trying to stop anyone from making movies or really anything else about the genocide worldwide. What's scary is that all Turks, no matter their politics, are in denial. What's scarier is that this is still going on today, against the Kurds in Turkey.

      My grandfather told us similar storys about the massacre armenians did in villages in eastern turkey. This tragedy is not one sided. Did your grandfather also tell you that the armenians lived in peace for almost 7 centuries in the ottoman empire. Armenians had the best positions in socity. But during ww1 they betrayed the ottomans by taking side of the ennemy. Armenians killed more turkish and kurdish citicenz then otherwise. Armenians and the west should stop telling the story one sided. On both sides there are innocent victims to regret. So armenians and the west stop spreading lies, stop being hypocrite. As we know armenians are not so innocent as they pretent to. Remember also the genocide begin 1990s in nogorno karabagh. Remember how zori balayani killed children by ripping of the skin alive. And he never held accountable for his crimes on humanity.

      Kazım Karabekir, wrote a memoir, google it, read it. He is called the father of Armenian orphans. He built an orphanage for Armenian kids abandoned/orphaned/left behind . He raised and educated them and reintegrated them to Turkish society.
      Make what sense of the rest of the story, you will. He writes in his memoir about a village in Kars where he was sent to investigate news of atrocities and see what was going on. He writes when they arrived at the main road to the village they saw figures at a distance, they seemed to be smiling having seen sight of soldiers arriving. When they got closer they realized these were Turkish villagers impaled to the stake, what seemed like a grin or smile was their excruciating pain frozen in their facial expression postmortem. He continues they could not enter village for days, due to aggressive dogs. They wondered what’s wrong with them, they were all going mad. Days later when they could finally enter they were terrified at the stench and the sights. The villagers were massacred by the Armenian gangs. With none left alive to take care of the livestock, cats, dogs, etc, the starving dogs had become very aggressive competing for food and started eating the remains of the people. The dogs treated them as pray. He describes collecting body parts, bowels, limbs scattered all over the village by the animals. These scenes and similar cases repeated village after village, and the news traveled to parts of the country where animosities had not started, but no Armenian was going to wait around to find out if they would. Turks became very hostile and suspicious of their Armenian neighbors, so Armenians packed an fled in haste. Now the ottomans were also fighting a war with Greeks, French, British, Italians and Russians at multiple fronts at the same time. Some of the soldiers who finished their tour headed home. A lot of the soldiers who thought they were going home instead arrived to a crime scene. Whole families massacred, villages burned down, so they turned their Attention to remaining Armenians elsewhere and the ones being moved by the government, some, after finding out the Armenians have fled south gave chase and caught up with them. This is where some of your disturbing grandma stories start. My great grandfather was one of those soldiers. He was sent to Batumi Georgia to secure the oil field routes. When the Germans bombed the area they hit his regiment by mistake, so with many of the leadership killed, soldiers scattered all over they couldn’t regroup. He and few other fellow soldiers decided to march back home along the Black Sea. He has stories of deserted villages, some with gruesome scenes. With no one around, they couldn’t find food. All was eaten by animals. He has stories of how they picked undigested barley and wheat out of horse shit, how they boiled their leather moccasins for soup. Unbelievable stuff. When soldiers like that reach a village with stories, emotions boil over. I think both sides have to come to terms with their respective crimes. In 1990’s post Soviet Armenia you guys demonstrated how capable you are in committing atrocities, so not buying the we were all innocent victims of 1915 line.

    The biggest crime conducted by turks and germany has not been punished and addressed fairly whatsoever.
    Armenians lost so much- human capital, culture, language, identity, property, and hope for justice because of Genocide. And turkey has not paid a penny for the damage and blatantly claims that it did no beasty massacres. Due to the occupation of Armenian property and wealth it was the only country after WW1 that came out of the war with an economic progress.
    Each time anyone praises turks or shares their wonderful experiences there, remember you are promoting a serial killer that continues to massacre in Syria, Iraq, Artsakh, Greece and many more.

      It was the Young Turcs and not the Turks who did the genocide,after imprisonning the sultan, putting on the throne his feeble brother,killing the minister of war in the palace, taking the gouvernement in hand completely,changing the heads of the armies........ After the war they fled to Germany. They were judged in absentia. When Atatürk came, many returned and have important offices ....A Little learning IS a dangerous thing, Alexander Pope
