Back in 2018 I had the pleasure of having Dan and the team at Grand Tourer rebuild my XW GS Fairmont, also factory V8 and Sunroof. They do amazing work.....so good I'm too scared to drive it! :)
I hate to think 30 years ago we were going to the wreckers every weekend and seing rows of fairmonts and falcons and fairlanes most with V8s too...stripped of parts then crushed !
I own a tealglow #5 fairmount here in New Zealand not a gs but factory v8 with cloth seat inserts theres a few tealglow fairmount here must have been the most popular colour choice
Sunroofs in Australian cars back then were not common, I'm not sure if they were a factory option or a dealer option but they were very expensive. I doubt any are left these days but Ford was very keen to put it's performance options out there. The father of mate of mine owned a XY GS wagon 351 4 speed 4 barrel 351 (GT motor) from the factory, there was also a Fairlane with the GT motor T-bar auto running around my area. As far as I know Holden and Chrysler wouldn't do that except as prototypes for Bathurst.
Gosh i was offered an XW 302 fairmont for $6000 in 1979.... what!!! you must be tripping $6000😂😂😂😂 I was 17 and probably would have wiped myself out 😂😂😂

It’s thanks to Dan GT has plenty of the parts required, though even he laments the amount of shells were sent to the crusher.

The early XY with the Windsor were predominately T Bar Auto, even The Panel Van's.
