    Thank-you for telling us about Rancho Gordo beans! I got the Survival pack of beans and it had Black beans in it. I cooked them last because to me, black beans are 'meh' at best. But, the Rancho Gordo brand of black beans is phenomenal! I didn't make soup, just soaked the beans all day, cooked on stove in same water as soaking, S&P at end-they were the best beans I've ever eaten in my life! Thank-you for introducing me to Rancho Gordo!! I make your Beefless Bourguignon all the time-it's fantastic! Really does make a difference when you cook the mushrooms like you recommend! Thanks for all your hard work~

    Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon is a well-known book. Soaking beans gets rid of phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that binds to vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in our food making them hard to absorb. Wake up the beans by soaking, change the water and then cook. Instant pot cooks fast but it doesn't take away anti-nutrients. Soak beans so they're easier to digest and nutrients more easily absorbed.

    Made this dish tonight.. first plant based meal I've ever made. Yummy stuff! Loved how easy it was. I did add a pack of corn (which I highly encourage as it's the perfect complement) and after it was done cooking, I popped the steam valve and added a 1/2 cup of cilantro... let that sit in the warm cycle. Mmmmm mmmmmm.

    Great recipe. I don't have an Insta pot I just have a regular digital pressure cooker. But there is something I learned about the Insta pots and I don't know if you know it. The handles have a little slots in it so you can rest the lid in the handle and not have to place it on your countertop that is the one thing about an instant pot that I love.

    Thank you for sharing your recipe. Could you tell me; it seems like you mentioned 35 Min to cook, & then you said 10 more minutes to heat up, & 20 to cool down. Which setting would use for the 10 minutes to heat up? After the 35 minute cook, would I reset the timer for 10 min & should I also use the setting “pressure cooker” for those 10 minutes?

    • @wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow
      @wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow  Před 2 lety +1

      You use 35 minutes on the pressure cook setting. It takes the Instant Pot about 10 to heat up before it begins counting down the 35 min. It takes about 20 minutes for the Instant Pot to naturally release after the 35 minutes is done
