This is the first Rugby game I've ever watched and I'm very impressed. It's a very intense game. For me as a soccer fan the discipline and obedience to the referee of the players is remarkable.
Sitting in the stands at Eden Park that day. We were treated to one of the best games of rugby ever played.
Same. Even went down the other goal line to watch the last half Phenomenal Win. Better than any All Black game. And I've seen more losses than Wins from our lads.

@@AndrewSua-vx9rh excuse me but I went back and watched some parts (slow speed) where I thought I needed to analyze who was at fault. I'm glad I did and I suggest you do the same, if you still think England was "robbed". I don't know where the ref was from, but NZ was penalized numerous times when they shouldn't. Shocking. I don't watch much serious rugby because of the blatant cheating that goes on. It totally ruins the game. In fact I'll make a prediction that if New Zealand plays France in the final, then we will lose, and it won't be from playing badly. It will look as if they are play poorly but that will be because the referees. The only way they will be able to win is by absolutely thrashing them. Not easy to accomplish

*The coolest head and great strategist in the midfield was Theresa Fitzpatrick whilst Charmaine MCMenanin is the most no-nonsense busy hardworker in the forwards. The most impactful and devastating runners were Renee Holmes, Stacey Flueler and Ayesha Leti I'iga in the outside backs whilst the leaders in Kendra Cocksedge, Rua Dumant and Ruby Tui kept the team pumping for 80 mins. All the Black Ferns team were doing their jobs superbly, but there is still perfection needed to be polished with their high risk but exciting brand of rugby!!! KUDOS to all the Wahine Toa of Aotearoa!!!*
Not just the greatest final but it was the greatest Rugby Unions 15’s match ever. Especially with Rikki Swanell on commentary.
this was epic - the game and atmosphere perfect for a grand women's world cup rugby final.
Brilliant game and the second half Black Fern try from the ends of the earth was easily THE TRY of the tournament.

I was in Eden Park during this game (and the bronze match earlier that day), and what a game. Before that day, I've never watched a rugby match live. So glad I watched

I watched from the US, my first RWC ever, and it was a fun and intense match! It was worth staying up into the wee hours of the morning to see a sellout crowd cheering on the Black Ferns!
The USA needs to incorporate the sevens girls into their 15's side. They would be a real threat then.

It was a sell out game, didn’t mean all the seats were full (which they weren’t) half the tickets were free and cheaper then lollies because they were crying for people to tune in and watch

As a 54yr male kiwi living in the US this game was the best sporting event in my life and the most emotional .I honestly can't count how many times I have watched it..Following the Blackferns journey then for them to win in NZ like they did was just a pure beautiful moment in time.

And all because the England pack cynically slowed their way to the lineout giving the assistant referee time to review the charge down. This led to NZ ball and the winning try. Englands own fault

Women’s Rugby is just as if not more exciting then the men’s.
The skill levels, ball handling, tackles it was maximum effort from both sides.

when the mighty All Blacks played that majestic Barbarians team in the 70s Inspiring running rugby with beautiful trys. But what really added to it, was the amazing atmosphere created by thousands of Welsh fans singing in full voice. Brought a chill down my spine.

Hats off….best centre in the world without a doubt….her and Renee Holmes awareness and decision making was sublime when it mattered……whole team played with HEART
England were phenomenal……and though I honestly believe their were no losers…..someone had to take second place…..but sheesh ENGLAND were fantastic….cudos to the ladies for a spirited hard fast game

England's game over the last few years has been based around their forwards and the driving maul ( a part of the game I really dislike )
In this final they over powered NZ several times and scored with their driving maul tries. What I did notice watching the game live at Eden Park
with my wife is that England's forward pack although very strong around their driving maul, their BIG Achilles Heel was their forwards slowness
around the field. When the Black Ferns spun the ball wide England's weakness was clearly there for everyone to see. A great final and I am glad
that the winner was a team that decided to show what running rugby is all about. I hope that the driving maul gets outlawed in the men and women's
game, it is a blight on the game. Fans want to see running rugby .. not a bore-fest with scrum after scrum.
Well I guarantee if the All Blacks scored 5 tries *all through the rolling maul* I'd imagine not only the World fans would boo but thier very own *NZL fans would boo.*
However not ban it but along with the drop goal just *minimize it* to 1 each per half, 1 try off the maul and 1 drop goal per half.
I'm a proud kiwi and Black Ferns fan and this comment comes from a place of ignorance. Whilst it's true that englands bread and butter is the maul they are far from a one dimensional team. This is a fallacy perpetuated by having a winger sent off, meaning they were one man down in a back line that was up against the most lethal backline in the world. Of course they're gonna revert back to the tried and true. The first try in the final was from the backs. The series before the World Cup they carved us up in the forwards and backs. Same for this years six nations. They probably scored more tries in the backs than the forwards.

The BF midfield were incredible that day . Waaka and Fitzpatrick with the sevens programme and not playing 15s this year has noticeably weakened the team
I understand, knowing what the roses are going to do and stopping them doing is a totally different beast. However the black ferns can score from anywhere at any time.

Pity the game was spoilt by the sending off, although it was the correct decision.
New Zealand scored three tries down England's vacant right wing.
Cockaigne went off after 73 minutes, 3 tries and 100% lineout.

Wow 2 yrs on and watched the whole game again and still feel the highs & lows of this great game. Still feel England should had gone for goal and send the game into extra time but backed themselves and their forward pack to get the job done. But some may say the hand of a Black Fern intervened in the final lineout of the final minute to snuff out any chance they had, what a game. Truly both teams gave it their all, and at the time relieved the Black Ferns came out winners......just.

Must've been a frustrating game for Renee Holmes. She missed so many kicks by just inches.
Didn't effect the rest of her game though,She was in there carrying that ball up real hard all game.
England's coaching staff, supporters, media and even ex-players voiced their concern at that red card being a contributing factor why England loss, maybe so but NZ had 3 yellows in 2010 & 2 yellows in 2017 that's 50mins between 2 tournaments yet they still found a way to win.
Running tiwards the goal before put ball to grass affects the anble of the kick
Let's not forget, the Fern's played against FOURTEEN Roses for 75% of the game and only JUST won by 2pts. Come 2025 revenge will be sweet, providing the ref isn't biased against the Roses.

So many Kiwis calling this the best game ever when they played with an extra player for over three quarters of the match, England would have won comfortably without the sending off as was seen before and after. The best game ever would be 15 against 15 and close, probably involving South Africa and New Zealand men although the French are nearly always great to watch.

No matter the result here, rolling mauls are horrible, basically illegal where the opposing team cannot compete for the ball as it’s guarded by people in front of carrier. Any other part of the game this is illegal. Let’s just get rid of it and see more expansive play from all teams. Running rugby is what most really want to see. There is still ample opportunity for scrum work.

Want to learn how a game is to be played? Watch the women do it. Pieces of perfection.
Why must the designated captain always start? If injured , unavailable or dropped the VC steps up. This just restricts selection. Have a team captain and a match day captain who may or may not be the same player depending upon form or injury.
