Lyrics:
Jumping up and down the floor,
My head is an animal.
And once there was an animal,
It had a son that mowed the lawn.
The son was an ok guy,
They had a pet dragonfly.
The dragonfly it ran away,
But it came back with a story to say.
Her dirty paws and furry coat,
She ran down the forest slope.
The forest of talking trees,
They used to sing about the birds and the bees.
The bees had declared a war,
The sky wasn't big enough for them all.
The birds, they got help from below,
From dirty paws and the creatures of snow.
And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes.
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines.
But she and her furry friends
Took down the queen bee and her men.
And that's how the story goes,
The story of the beast with those four dirty paws. - Hudba
i can see a short animation in my mind about this song
Just cant get it outta my head...
Make a short film then? That's what I do when this happens 😂
+Robin Lee I will be making one soon, on a diff account. :)
So do I... I need to write into a book so it'll become a movie :)
+Robin Lee I know, right? It's very narrative.
+Robin Lee How is it? I imagine a dog playing with a kid and then they both grow up, and it goes on and on...
Why is it that every Of Monsters And Men song I've ever heard has given me goosebumps for days? I mean, I'm not complaining at all, but still...
Because they are based on a true life story.
They tell the truth and you can feel it.
Because music with meaning and a strong message hit different. Frequencies maybe? 🤔
I personally think this song is NOT about ww2. I have this crazy theory that it's just about the nature of humanity. Anyway, great tune!
Kenny Klemp wow, the first correct person! this song is based off icelandic folklore, and we all know folklore is used to tell a moral
Agree with you 😁👌
i think it can mean whatever you want it to!
Yes, me to because at one part it says-- And for a while things were cold. They were scared down in their holes. The forest that was once green Was colored black by those killing machines AKA us
Its true cuz it can be played in any war like Waterloo battle Mosul battle or even wwi
listening to this song is like having a refreshing, snowy breeze brisk your face in near-end winter. Absolutely beautiful.
Most poetic thing ever
This song is so peaceful! It's one of those songs that I'd listen to in a car, starring out the window dramatically :) love it
I only heard this song on the 'roadtrip' playlist, now I found this. :D
For the record, most believe it to be an analogy of WWII. Sorry to ruin it's surface level peacefulness.
omg I thought I was that did that
@@lackedpuppet9022 a different war.
Hey anyone in 2019, I hope you're okay but I just need to say something here. I know nobody will see this but If anyone does I need you to know you're great. You're a kind, compassionate person. You'll achieve great things and you can achieve anything. I hope you know this and that you embrace it. Sincerely with all my love, Rowan 💕
glowstick blood thank you this helped me for some reason
glowstick blood helping me in 2020
This genuinely made my day better. 2020 has been Hell and a half so far, so I'm sure you need this as much as anyone else. You are strong, you are brave, and you will survive this. Wishing you the best, Sal
May you never lose your positivity or feel it was all for nothing.
Why would you randomly put this on a video? Such a hippie
Head: Early Britain(?)
Son: Early Colonists
Lawn: Native Americans
Dragonfly: Soldier
Forest of Talking Trees: Propaganda
Bees: Germany
Birds: Britain
Beast: America
Creatures of Snow: Russia
Holes: Trenches
Four Dirty Paws: Branches of Military
Thoughts?
Hmm... now I need to go look for an interview of these people
Shadow Less
That’s... woah... yeah ur right
She and her furry friends : Colonist and allies
Queen Bee and her men: Great Britain and their soldiers
Furry freinds: the entente?
So a dragonfly watched a cat beat up a bunch of bees
rick johnson
No a dragonfly flew through a bunch of singing trees that told him the story of a cat beating up a bunch of bees.
(Which is actually a hell of a lot weirder)
Lol
Eh dragonfly listened to bunch of trees sing about cats and birds beating up a bunch of bees
The cat was the dangerous bat little shit the bees were stinging them all so the dragonfly could fly away assholes Idfk maybe fun babble
The funniest comment 😂😂😂
This is my favorite of their songs. I also like King and Lionheart and Little Talks
yes those are awesome and so is mountain sound
Aurora Roberts i like wire check it out
ANNIE LIONHEART
Mountain sound is better the King and Lionheart in my opinion.
Aurora Roberts yes, I feel the same!
Finally a band that does not sing about human love :). I love this band they sing about random things, but it is lovely :D
uKnow so uhh apparently its about ww2, america is the beast with the dirty paws, Britain is the birds, germany is the bees, the son is early colonists, the creatures of the snow are the ussr and the dragonfly is a soldier. At least thats what I'm getting from the comments
It’s actually about ww2, with each of the words being a name for something else. It is a lovely song though 👍
Little talks
Y’all who replied that it is about world war ll are actually wrong. It is actually about an Icelandic folk tale. The thing about WW2 is only an interpretation.
I know! Listen to *coldplay* though---
I personally think this song is about World War II. "The bees" is the Axis. "The sky wasn't big enough for them all" Lebensraum, the German policy of getting "breathing room" for the German people. "The birds" the Allies. "They got help from below" from the people of their colonies such as in Africa and India. "From dirty paws" America "and the creatures of snow" The USSR. "And for a while things were cold" the war in the Eastern Front against the USSR. German men were dying from cold and hunger. "The forest that once was green was colored black by those killing machines" the destruction of the Russian countryside by both Soviet and German soldiers. "But she and her furry friends took down the Queen Bee and her men" The turning of the war and capture of Berlin, the death of Hitler.
I think you're right. It makes sense.
Can you explain the introductory verse describing who the dragonfly is?
Noah Christensen it could be a soldier that went off and fought in the war and survived to tell about it.
Yomega360 I think your right
Noah Christensen I think it might be a soldier
i found this on sweet tooth thank you for giving us this way of listening to dirty paws!
So imagine
Bees: Fire nation
Birds: Air temples
Dragon fly: Aang
Dirty paws: earth benders
Creatures of snow: water benders
Beast with the four dirty paws: Avatar
Oh wow
I like this version
Lol
yass lol
thank god im not the only one who thought of ATLA for this song
"They used to sing about the birds and the bees..." ..........................
I'm not the only one who thought this!!
+The Swift Kitty Is it normal that i don't get it?
+The Swift Kitty it's the birds and the bees because both are different species that fly. there's nothing to do about.. Y'now.
+Atsuko Hashimoto I didn't say that it was about that. Buut..
Agelkins Jamaa or that english isn't my first language
This is sweet tooth
The bees: Germans
The birds: Brits
The dirty paws: U.S.A.
The creature of snow: Russians
The lyrics " the beast with those 4 dirty paws" is talking about america and the 4 popularly fought wars. Civil, revolution, ww1 and ww2
+Sabian Williams that. Is cool.
Emma Walton
The Forest= Europe
The Four Dirty Paws= The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WWI, and WWII
+Sabian Williams
Thats an awesome description
Mind freaking blown...

SandStorm what the fuck are you doing on a twoleg's computer?
Kipping Kangaroo OH MY GOD YES.
SandStorm kinda...............
+SandStorm Darude is that you?
SandStorm how?
I heard this for the first time this morning and fell in love with it
Come back for another listen!
If you're a warrior cat fan, doesn't 2:22 and on sounds like when Leafpaw and the others were trapped in the cages when the Twolegs were tearing down the forest?
Definitely!
:D
Desert Rose
For some reason all I could think of was "Pack, Pack, Kill, Kill" :/
Hmm
YES
Here from Sweet Tooth anybody?
I FREAKING LOVE SWEET TOOTH AAAA 😭
Got this beautiful song because of Sweet Tooth. Thanks Gus.
I found this song on a Netflix show called "Sweet Tooth"
And I fell in love with this song intently
Same!
Yea!
That’s how I found it too!
Such A Relaxing Song And It Makes You Think So Fresh
...think so fresh?
I thought it said "The son was an old gay guy"
Kimora Woodds hahaha just like I thought
Geandy Hernandez "They had a fat dragonguy"
I said NO Now I can’t hear it differently.
Thanks can't unhear this now.
"once there was a man named Moe"
The first time I heard this on the radio, I fell in love ❤❤❤
Same
I interpret this as a bizarre and amazing dream. It quickly explains all of the weirdness, and the "my head is an animal" refers to the singer's wild imagination.
This band never disappoints...
"the sun was an okay guy"
I don't know why but that just gets me every time
Wait a second... 😮 I just realized that it said "sun" and not "son" 👀 That's really interesting!!!
amazing song i wish more people made songs like this
One of my favorite songs ever!
Ikr!
I listened to this courtesy of one of my fellow travellers as we went overland across West Africa, a lovely lovely song, it's stuck in my head ever since - thank you
Jamie Lynn Buehner
Finished sweet tooth. This was my favorite song.
Same!! Only knew the name bc my subtitles were on lol
think i just found my new fav band
I said that when I heard little talks! I love their music!
I said that when I heard Organs
This feels Naustaligic. I use to play with the dragonflies outside my home, near the river. They always followed me and my neighbor had a dog that was always dirty when I saw it. It jumped on me and smeered dirt on my dress, So I called the dog dirty dog, or dirty paws. This is a huge coincidence, I really love this song.
That's really beautiful! Thank you for sharing❤️
Came from sweet tooth✨
i really LOVE it when you listen to a song and you just CAN'T get it out of your head!! Robert Morris - Na Na Na is also EXACTLY that kind of simple, freaking catchy song that sticks with you whether you want it or not
song: and that's how the story goes
me: 👀👀👀👀👀
song: the story of the beast with those four dirty paws
me: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👌👌👌👌💯💯💯💯💯 good shit
I heard this song at my sisters mental health hospital and I’m in love with it 💛
I like to read such stories. They make me happy :)
This song is most definitely a WWII Song.
The Emperor’s Wrath
Nope it is about an Icelandic folk tale. Sorry.
Cat Byrne Oh, now i can see why they put this song in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
then why use ''she'', wars n killings r always started by stupid inferior male beings only throughout history
Imagine watching a dragonfly run 🤣
They dont mean a real dragonfly though. It's about the war.
Listen y'all, this folklore. It doesn't matter what it is about.
i saw a cool comment. yes i agree the song is awesome regardless of the meaning but i thought this idea was cool too:
Second world war:
The bees: Germans
The birds: Brits
The dirty paws: U.S.A.
The creature of snow: Russians
Secret Life of Walter Mitty got me here! :D

Hello. I am replying to you 7 years later 🩷
This reminded me of the movie "The Fox And The Hound"
Oh my god, people! Quit arguing about what the song means and just enjoy it!
+Rayne Orr Knowing the meaning behind a song is a pretty large part of enjoying it for a lot of people.
well, yes, I suppose that's true, but I suppose people can't just accept that others have a different view on the song.
I used to listen to this all the time in middle school & then kinda forgot about the band after my variety changed, but I remembered this randomly & so glad I did because it's still a great song
my friends asked me to listen to it...and ffell in love with the song,,,, now i have downloaded all the song of the monster and men already ehehehe...little talks and king and lionhert were a great songs indeed,,try to listen to it

Such a beautiful song. Yet so powerful
The boy broke his father's rules slowly, and then all at once.
Beautiful! Meow! Licking my paws clean.
In my book that am writing for English class, I am a wolf a winter wolf apart of the snow clan. This is the song that inspired me to write and I thank you for this lyrics for with out it I would not be who I am now. Thank you!

@@thatkatkrazykid4742 r/wooosh
@@thatkatkrazykid4742 wow! It's not like that's the whole point of the joke, you block of cement!
Guys, stop bashing ThatKat KrazyKid
They didn’t get the joke, that’s all. And on the other hand, calling someone “dipsh*t” is very rude. All of you, apologize to each other now

Mountain Sound... All time favorite!!!
This song gives me goosebumps
Ben stiller brought me here
So everyone is talking about the meaning of the song but no one has said any explanation which explains the beginning part
This song represents lots of things=
Respect
Forgiveness
Love
And what I think... FURRYS :3
I get that but...Umm....that still doesn't explain the beginning part. Also, furrys 😂😂😂
I know right X3
Hymie Franco I believe the beginning is stating that we are all animals in a sense, the human animal. And that as a whole we are all inter-connected. Such that we could easily envision what it is like for the creatures of the forest, that perhaps the animals and plants, being inter-connected as well, told the story of a terrible war in forest to a dragonfly, that returned to the humans and conveyed such an incredible story to them. Speaking on a spiritual level that we are all connected, and as we have this spiritual connection we can sense what the other wants to convey.
Or something to that effect I might think. But this is just my theory, take it for what you will.
+Teresa Westberg no it's about Icelandic folk tales
This song is amazing.
love this song!

Iv always seen this as the world , their are problems that ruin it but it’s still beautiful even with its scars their is still hope and nature can bring us together in a way .
