If this isn’t a good reason to ban HOA in the USA then what is

With that HOA story I’m sorry, but the moment she laid hands on that mother, no kidding her son knocked the B word on her backside. I would’ve done the same thing, and quite frankly that HOA would be looking at being dissolved if it were left up to me.

If I was buying a house, any involvement with an HOA would be the point where I would say NO!!!!!!

HOA's many times abuse their power.

I'm thankful I haven't had that experience! I would never buy into a neighborhood with a home owner's association! HORROR stories!

No matter where in the US, as far as I know, an HOA's power ends at the door. Nowhere in the US are HOAs allowed to make any rule giving them power over the interior of a home. Only the exterior

You’re right. I had a confrontation with the HOA where I lived previously when they decided to do an inspection while we were renovating the interior. I wasn’t there at the time. I called to complain, and they tried to assert authority. I reminded them that their authority ends at the exterior sheathing, and their role in the renovation is limited to permitting the dumpster outside.
Thankfully, I live in an area where many of the HOA’s hire property management companies to handle most of their affairs, resulting in mostly professional management and fewer confrontations over the limits of HOA authority.

While you are right. I still would NEVER live in an HOA neighborhood. I dont want to live anywhere I cant paint things colors I like, etc. To me its shades of facism.

They are not allowed inside your house and they are not allowed to give fines if the city or state allows the things they write you up for.

In my area of Australia we do things a little differently. HOA Karens tend to get a very sharp reminder that their power, such as it is, is limited by the good will of those that they exercise power over. Once that goodwill is exceeded, their power ends and retribution begins.

The second story about the landlord turning the power off in the winter is amazing. The landlord thought his tenants were too ignorant and frightened to do anything about it. The end result cost him everything including his liberty and knowing a little about how the U.S. works, he's going to be in prison for a long time and still be responsible for paying all the fines.

Story 1: Didn't the house look like this before, i.e. too many flowers and the mailbox color? No one controls how green the grass is, Karen!! Did the HOA complain about the family who lived there before? If these stories are true, HOA members have nothing to do all day except nitpick and complain because they're lonely people who don't know how to interact with others. Karens are never in a hurry, they say that to make the workers make mistakes so they can have something to complain about, smh.

I think that the problem with HOAs is that they are power hungry and petty tyrants.

When you buy a house with a HOA, it states in the information that it has a HOA and also if you buy a house where there is one, you are considered to be a member, that is why you should always ask.

The first story is so completely unbelievable. It's pathetic, leave a bowl ecstatic. No, home owners association has the right to come into your house to do inspections you own that home. They do not have that right.Yeah if you were running an apartment they would have that right but if you own the home you do not have to let anybody in to say you're property in any state

You actually bring this on yourself when you sign onto a HOA.
My brother lives in e HOA, snd being a retired Marine, he was yelling at someone who just parked on the street.
You have to be a knucklehead to live in one of these HOA.
They can actually take your home from you in some of these HOA"S

Habitability is the correct word to describe a building's condition of fitness for people to live in. Proof read your work and consult a dictionary when you come to word you don't understand or cannot spell.
