      @@robertbanys when you wanna trim the end of a sample you can make it reverse so you dont have to wait and play the whole sample

      I think the machine is way too complicated to set up a simple beat you be there all day just trying to get a drum beat or maybe even high hats simplify the machine for the price just make it work...without too many button pushing and setting up and erasing and going back and tweaking your BPM‘s its ridiculous

      True, lol, but DJ’s have many tools and ways to still make the tracks work in their set if they really want....unless it’s all vinyl then good luck...lol

    This is the best 404 video I have seen, and I've watched a few to try and work out if I want one. I'ts the first one I've seen that actually made me understand how it works and how hands on and fun it looks.

      The PO-33 by Teenage Engineering is ace at making old school, lofi House music. Really has that crunch and rasp and paired with a little overdrive for saturation and it takes you right back.

    Spectacular! Anybody considering getting this sampler should watch this to understand this resampling workflow that the SP-404 is known for. Dude, I would LOVE to see you build a similar house track on an MPC. People rave about the workflow of MPCs.

      They do that's because MPC workflow is about 10 times easier than this (doesn't involve coping, pasting and moving samples about every 30 seconds for a start) and you can actually do very complex things with an MPC that you could NEVER hope to do with a 404.

      @@aikighost , that's what I've heard. Yeah, it's not a device for doing complex stuff. Budget, portability, and distinctive FX are reasons people mention for loving the SP-404. Personally, I don't mind the workflow that we see in this video. Nice results in a very short time, IMO.

    This is super clever, man! I feel like sometimes the SP-404 is cursed to only make lo-fi hip hop beats. Nothing wrong with that, but it's awesome to see it doing something else for a change. Keep rockin!

I really can relate to all of those SP problems like the 2 pad resampling fails or having to listen to the whole sample just to know if it loops well.. and if it doesn’t well then all over again!       i actually think it's little things like that that make a track work, it feels great when you dance to it and you get it right (another exemple of this is Icky Thump by the White Stripes, a completely different genre but I love this kind of things)

      Keep going man once you get the hang of it you will never look back, I find it so much easier to work without the sequencer.

    I’ve got the OG 404, trimming samples is kinda tricky, but just simply recording a full song into the machine and playing back is magic. The machine sounds beautiful. Converters? It’s a badass effects machine too.

      Yea I've been trying to find something similar to rub a song through, nothing like it for some weird reason. I don't know if it sounds good, or bad, haha it's just magic as you say.

    Just the way you're doing it by feeling rather than an actual BPM amount just goes to show that you have to follow your guts on some things sometimes. And that "slightly dislocated" feel definitely works for house anyway. Cheers mate!

      You will love it. Sampler is propably best way to get into making music. Hardware sampler even more so. Just get field recorder and cable that you can connect to your phone for example and you can get crazy
