I was in the same boat. I have been wanting a macro lens for the longest time but it was one of those things where ehhh I didn't want to spend 650$ and not use it every single day. My main lens for my 1dxii for photo and video is my 24-105 and 50 1.2 but this lens is just different and I love that I got it. Yes I don't use it for everything but for those shots I want to get extra close and abstract It's one sweet lens and It's also one of those lenses that I'll probably never sell and just keep around for a rainy day to get different perspectives on things.

I absolutely love the 24-105 for my primary video lens on my 1dxii as well. The 24-105 has been with me since the beginning when I had my t3i. Love that lens.
