I had a Sony MiniDisc player that I didn’t use for a longtime. When I finally did, it broke even though it was practically new. That was the end of my MiniDisc fascination.

So so very glad to see that you posted this. I wish I did not have to get up for work in the morning, I would stay up and watch this in completion. But I will watch it in parts until it is done I'm sure.🎉

Fantastic video! Minidisc still has a place in my collection. I use it to make physical versions of albums that are only available in digital format. I have a lot of respect for anybody keeping the faith by preserving stuff like this and giving thoughtful takes on it. 👍🏽

I only ever bought two proper albums on Mini Disc, I always found the asking price to be ridiculous at the time, I used mine for CD ripping...
I still have all my Mini Disc machines, they have a special place in my heart, the Sony MDS-JB930 deck, Sony MZ-R50 Portable Recorder, Sony MZ-NH900 Portable Recorder, and the last but not least my Sony MDX-C7900 car head unit... They're all back in their boxes and put away.
The great thing about Mini Disc during the years they were about, was how Mini Disc gave us the best quality sound and the best of portability out of any other medium at the time... That was until low bit sound was introduced and people forgot about the quality of sound, and instead went for the ease of use and portability, which seemed like stupidity because those first digital players were nothing but glorified Dictaphone recorders, and it wasn't until digital storage was increased and folks could squeeze a few albums on a drive instead of a few songs gave the media the boost it needed to take over....
In the late stages of the Mini disc history, the Mini Disc was still light years ahead in quality. And It's like what my Shih Tzu Monty tells me from time to time, most folks know the price of everything, and the value of nothing....

Your audio is playing very low volume on my device. I had a mini-disc recorder that didn't last long either but I loved the editing features of it. I never bought a prerecorded album but I would record syndicated radio shows late at night while I slept. I would get up early & go to work & then come home & listen to it. If I owned copies of the songs I would skip to one that I didn't own & insert a divider mark and delete the beginning of the file. After that song I'd add another divider between each song, keeping what I wanted and deleting the rest. Then adding the artist name & song title & rearranging the order if I wanted to.

One thing I have to say that I finally realized about you that I can relate to is this (although there are actually many things): I can tell when you talk about music, you actually have a relationship to the music, almost like it is a friend. And I feel exactly the same way. Some people just don't get it, but you totally get it
