Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 languages so far).
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this.
His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄.
He sang this song on his digital concert in January 2021 during the pandemic. He had to cancel his tour and did this concert for his Dears/fans. That’s why there was no audiende to be seen or heard.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.

Here you can hear a large part of fhis vocal range, as well as an incredibly awesome Kazakh instrument. The Kobys. The man who often plays the kobys in Dimash’s performances is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.
I’m glad you discovered Dimash and I hope you continue to react to videos of him. You are just at the beginning and you will discover so many completely different and incredible songs yet if you are willing to continue on this emotional ride.

You did find the right words and so much more. You immediately noticed Dimash's incredible stage presence and how he incarnates the song. You also put a quick caption, pointing out the use of his hands acting as his voice maestro. Because you wished it, I suggest 2 songs for your next Dimash reactions. The first song is from The Fifth Element movie, "The Diva Dance" (from the Bastau Concert). Yep he did that too. The second is "Sinful Passion" but specifically from the Moscow Concert fancam version. It is up close and personal with Dimash, his voice and his hands. Dimash is always perfect. His music wasn't my cup of tea...I thought. But I can't get his performances out of my head. They are so emotional and unbelievable really. My favorite is "Stranger (new wave 2021)". Performed within Russia but sung in English, it has everything this SOS clip you watched has and even more. All I can say is all his performances are Jawdropping but Stranger shows his highs, very lows and in between with a killer ending. Thanks from 🇺🇸 for your reaction.

Goosebumps are common reaction. I've read he practices 3 hours a day. The production values in his live concerts and videos are always amazing. Thank you for commenting on them as well. His father is a singer, lyricist and producer, his mother an opera singer, so he has the social connections for this production levels. And he does the Diva Dance! Check it out!.

I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. I had the opportunity to say this to Dimash, personally, when I was with him in Latvia where I went, coming from Portugal (there are 8000 km round trip), on the 7th of March 2020. S o s is the song that Dimash chose when he was invited to take part in a Chinese competition in 2017. The clip of him singing this went viral on you tube and gave him millions of Chinese fans too, . As you say, this song has EVERYTHING. Dimash has done three versions of the diva dance, all quite different. I’d recommend Stranger from New Wave 2021 which is in English. He tells a story in that one, and in actual fact, he tells a story in many of his songs.

Yes, there were 400 people in the production crew for the 2021 Digital Show during COVID. The Digital sets were incredible for the whole 1 3/4 hours.
Dimash does do DIVA DANCE from the Fifth Element - there are fantastic performances of this song (all different), but my favourite is from Dimash’s first solo concert in Bastau, in 2017. It’s on Dimash’s CZcams channel.

I'm sure Dears (Dimash fans) will have told you he does indeed cover the Diva Dance (Fifth Element) song. Please make sure to react to the Bastau performance. (Even if you also do some other version. Each time he sings it he brings something new but the Bastau performance is special because he does it so effortlessly and even more impressively than other versions I've heard -- even though it's 100% live, in the middle of a 3 hour concert!)
The transitions from soft and vulnerable, to strong, and then closing with lonely and vulnerable, is the story of the song SOS. This is nothing to do with him. It's just the meaning of the song SOS, which is one of 70 songs that are part of the punk rock opera Starmania from the 1970s.
Dimash emotionally inhabits each and every songs he sings. It gets even more intense when a song resonates especially strongly with him, and trust me, SOS is only partially like that. There are other songs where his intensity goes to another level beyond SOS, eg Samaltau, Olimpico, Ave Maria, Love is Like a Dream, Love of Tired Swans, Stranger, Screaming, and on and on.
And when it's one of his own compositions it often gets even more intense again, even if it's apparently light material (eg Be With Me) but especially when the topic is itself fundamentally intense and personal (eg War & Peace, Unforgettable Day, The Story of One Sky, and so on).
