Well with finding Merlin a third installment of finding NEMO. not expected to to be released till 2027. I would expect the cars 4 release date to be around 2025 or 2026. But cars is one of my favorite Pixar/Disney franchises. And I think they ended the third one on a bit of a cliff hanger. With lighting McQueen handing the reins over to Cruz. I think they have something to tell with that. Maybe her success as a racer,winning piston cups and following her mentors path.

Personally I feel like if they do make a 4th film they should do one about McQueen and how he became a racer and about his childhood/life before the first film. And they can make short films or more films on the rest of the cast. So many spin offs example history of the piston cup etc
That's a great idea. You should be a screenwriter. We don't need to watch another rookie become super awesome. It'd be so cool to see how McQueen became interested in racing.

Like his coming up through the ranks. And how he got to where he is today. I would hate to see them take bits and pieces of all three existing cars movies. And just make something out of that. I want to see a good story told for hopefully the final installment in the cars franchise. I don’t want a repeat of cars 2 that would just be a total nightmare in my opinion.

If anything Cars 4 needs to include the Delinquent Road Hazards aka the Tuners, if it wasn’t for them, this franchise wouldn’t even have happened, so they need there own movie, the movie could be a prequel, leading up to the McQueen getting lost incident, but if they go continue off of cars 3, at least have one of them, probably the best being Boost, the leader of the DRH, being the protagonist
