I have a 2016 Nissan Altima and have been struggling with this. I've been pulled over for it, flashed at by people and I actually got into a minor accident because of it. I can't believe Nissan isn't facing lawsuits over this. Thank you so so much for the solution because this is extremely dangerous.

Halogen is best for spread. Also cheaper LEDs tend to either stop working or have bad wiring. My friend went back and is happy. Usually a housing is designed for the heat but newer designs are definitely not going to handle the classic extreme burners which are like 80watts. They'll melt the mounting ring. If you get lucky with LEDs, awesome. You are a winner. Always make sure any bulb is secured with the lock ring. Or things will melt or catch fire -especially fog lights! Some of the LEDs get hot also but usually are cool to touch. Be careful with lighting.

I love my 2015 except for this. But it happens to all plastic lights on all makes and models sooner or later. It's happened to my Chevy Silverado. Asked friends about theirs and yea after a while they go dim. The Nissan however is particularly bad. I've drive for almost a year with the dimness and now I'm changing. Thanks for the affirmation that new ones will indeed fix the problem and for the links.

I miss glass head lights as well, much more high quality performance. But auto makers want to save money, I guess glass is a bit more dangerous as well. Though Nissan did a extra bad job on these plastic headlights. Worst experience, I felt my Altimas build quality was overall poor. Comparing to a Toyota Camry I’ve had less issues and more satisfactory out of one of those cars.

Our 2014 Altima has this problem. We cleaned the exterior of the headlight with a headlight restoration kit; that did not do much. Then, we bought higher end halogen replacement bulbs and that has improved it; They are Sylvania Superstar Ultra halogen bulbs at 55W. it might be acceptable now, but time will tell. I have to replace my grille (because its cracked) so I planned on changing out my headlight housings with the black projector version, and with L.E.Ds. kinda like you did. I have two questions.
Was it easy taking off and putting on the bumper?

Bumper is pretty easy to take off just make sure you remove all the plastic clips near the grill and under the bumper.
The bumper locks onto the fenders in a weird way near the headlights, it can be quirky but be patient and take pictures of how it looks before you take it apart.
H11 LED bulbs for the high beams also running separate LED bulbs it’s not two in one

So I tell them there are a few class action lawsuits out there because of the dim light problems because of the projector failures inside the housing.
"Oh, well, I NEVER heard of that either! So do you want us to look at your car?"

Damm, I didn't own my car long enough to get that letter. I just didn't like my Nissan Altima's build quality. I ended up selling my vehicle and switching to a Toyota. Good luck with your Nissan Altima, I hope all is going well.

It's the whole housing, sucks. Cheaply made parts, a lot of Nissans vehicles have cheaply made parts, it's better to buy a vehicle made by Toyota if you're in this type of market. I've owned multiple Nissans where I've been dissatisfied with the build quality. Even Infiniti vehicles have some cons and they are supposed to be the luxury version of Nissan.

The class action lawsuit is Suarez vs Nissan North America. When it's eventually settled many headlamps from 2013-2018 Nissan Altima's will be replaced at no charge. It doesn't matter if you didn't respond by the deadline as stated in the lawsuit as it's still in its infancy and you still can be included to initiate a claim if eligible. You'll know once it's officially settled when the Nissan corporate website known as "Nissan Assist" Home - Nissan Assist You will see it listed as a current campaign. CVT related settlements are also listed at Nissan Assist.

I'm replacing mine with aftermarket. Got the 'warranty inspection' in Aug 2022 and they agreed to replace. Headlights are in scarce supply and it's going to be 4 months to get an OEM pair. • @honestone490

Is your vehicle outside the overall extended 6 year warranty on headlamps? If your Altima is outside the extended warranty when the Settlement became “Effective” (January 20, 2022), you will have an opportunity to receive a one-time replacement set of your headlamps. I still believe it must also meet Nissan's guidelines of what is considered "delamination of the headlamps" for the servicing to be completed. However, I thought actual servicing under the settlement was still pending as it doesn't show up at the official Nissan Assist website. I guess I was wrong or your dealership granted an exception citing "dangerously poor visibility" as an over ride. In either case, Congrats and this will certainly help many other frustrated Altima owners.
