I took Igon as the physical manifestation of Bayles self-loathing. They share a lot of the same wounds (well, how the damage would transfer), and both die together.
I took Igon as literally just Captain Ahab. A harpoon-wielding, one-legged madman obsessed with revenge against an enormous creature.
That'd be dope if bayle had tried to rid himself of the half he rendered weak like miquella and st Trina or marika with radagon

What amazes me is how Bayle and Placidusax are both gravely wounded when you fight them, and they are crazy strong.
Can only imagine how great they were at their prime. I love that they gave us more dragon lore.
I personally would love to see some form of art of Prime Bayle and Prime Placidusax. Even better if it was a full 3d model.

PS: Gotta disagree, that Igon wasnt much of a "physical help" in the fight. He rocked Bayles sh*t for me. Cant count how many times his arrows broke Bayles poise.

Bayle lost both his wings and a leg, but he continues to fight, get stronger and strive for power and revenge. Bayle the dragon is worthy of respect, I felt his rage through the screen.

I like to imagine that Bayle pulled up and dropped the coldest one liner something like "Your God has abandoned you, I am here to take its place!" and then just started going in on Placidusax and ripping Ancient Dragons apart

Bayle's existence really does show that, no matter the Age, there will be those who wish to claim the title of Elden Lord. And considering the fact that Bayle wasn't the only one to walk away with grevious injuries, it really does show how close he was. Even as injured as both these dragons were, they still possessed the might of Lords.
And i think in his weakened state he was still able to kill every single dragon on that mountain. EVEN THE MOTHER. THE GIANT FUCKING DRAGON AND HER CHILDREN DIDNT HAD A CHANCE AGAINTS BAYLE.
The build up to this fight was so awesome, the music is amazing, fight is awesome. Even the damn boss design is overflowing with lore
Igons lines could be Bayles. He is pretty much in the same situation. Both have their bodies mutilated and are only filled with one thought vengeance.
After its death, I though Igon will say ; Bayle the Dread! youre now Bayle The Dead.

I think its interesting how Bayle basically uses a dragon communion incantation when he summons the spectral wings. He doesnt sprout wings on his arms where his old wings were but on his back where an âancient dragonâ grows its wings, presumably because he consumed so many ancient dragons, idk maybe im reading too much into it
while i love that interpretation, Ancient Dragon's arent subject to Dragon Communion on death. Every Dragon Communion spell is channelling the power of modern dragons or magma wyrms, where the rewards for killing ancient dragons are either an incantation they use or one of their scales.
This DLC also confirmed that the ones responsible for creating Dragon Communion are the Ancient Dragons themselves, out of the hatred for Bayle and his progeny. Ancient Dragons are incapable of doing Dragon Communion as well.
I think it would be odd that Bayle could do Dragon Communion with all of these in place, but honestly, theres not much else to explain why he has Ancient Dragon wings
Also something to note, Ancient Dragons dont drop Dragon Hearts either
Placidusax's Ruin doesn't count as Dragon Communion as it isnt boosted by the Dragon Communion Seal. It looks like it should be, but the lore of Dragon Communion prevent it from being such.

2. I know because A) we get his heart which Ancient Dragons dont drop B) he can be subject to Dragon Communion which Ancient Dragons are not.
3. Placidusax is an Ancient Dragon, and Bayle is the father to modern dragons.
4. Its more likely that Greyoll would be Bayle's wife/mate than Placidusax's.
5. Ancient Dragons degradation into modern Dragons isnt really explained to my knowledge, other than Bayle was the first.
6. Yes, Bayle's offspring are enemies of Ancient Dragons, but its because the Ancient Dragons created Dragon Communion to out of hatred for Bayle.
7. Age doesn't make an Ancient Dragon. Bayle is ancient and a dragon, but not an Ancient Dragon. Ancient Dragon is a species, not a way of saying that a dragon is old. Horses and Donkeys are similar, but theyre not the same species, like Ancient and modern dragons

First i think that bayle was an ancient dragon because he clearly has stone scales and also four wings in phase two.
Which neither of those two are seen on modern dragons.
Also i donât think that a modern dragon would have ever tried to conquer placudisax.
I could imagine that bayle started to conquer placudisax after the dragon god left.
Then he lost and was outcasted maybe the dragon god who has become an outer god still had the power to curse bayles offspring to no longer belong to his race for him ignoring the natural order or placudisax as new overlord was able to do so.
I can imagine that acting against the hierarchy is a big sin in dragon culture.
Then this curse caused bayles offsprings to be a degenerate version of dragons without the blessing of stone scales and their immortality (or the power of time which vaati suspects what they really do)
I think the thing with his heart is more like he is the first enemy so still his heart is interesting for the dragon communion despite him being an ancient dragon.
It would also make sense here that ancient dragons would hunt down the degenerate offspring of bayle AND bayle
So he drops a heart for us because we can use it for dragon cult and other ancient dragons donât drop it not because they have no heart but because itâs not interesting for us in any sense.
Thatâs probably why bales heart has in its desription âthe purest form of comunnionâ whereas greyrolls heart is just a dragonheart.
And the second thing is that ancient dragon means that they live longer in fact the biggest difference is that ancient dragons are immortal nit touched by time and modern dragons are mortal without stone scales
and we see greyroll powerless through high age whereas bayle is still powerful despite his wounds and probably higher age
itâs also important that other creatures can become sort of lesser dragons through bales blood or related heart
so maybe greyroll was another completely other race turned into a modern dragon by some ritual by bale and they then procreated further modern dragons through more common coitus
Which would maybe be another possible reason why there is a cult to hunt down modern dragons and bayle because it maybe was a forbidden sin to turn other beings into kind of dragons
and bayle did this because he was outcast without companion and maybe he wanted to create an army to rival placudisax again

Apart from the wing/limb analysis, Bayle's face looks more like a dragon (like the dragon god from demon souls), And, all the wyverns in Elden ring looks akin to Placidusax. Strange. đź

Placidusax and Bayle Rival
Reminds me of Paarthrunax and Alduin
Gotta admit that, fighting both of these dragons whom fought to such extents reminded me of two types of natures. Placi was a perfect storm with heavenly rays, while bayle was indeed a hellish volcano erupting uncontrollably, ceaseless fury as it consumed the lands below. Guess my question is did datum azula originate in the lands of shadow when that era of dragons rule? Who exactly was this god placi worshipped? Why has the tale of betrayals repeated in marikaâs reign as its vessel? As a lore hunter, I kept these questions in mind while looking at both main game and dlc as a whole since itâs clear as day that theirs more than one way to become a god in this reality, yet it comes in the greatest of sacrifices. Only one I truly felt for in this whole dlc was saint Trina, forever rooted in a gulch and far from the light of day. Almost convincing me that she made the bloodbornes reality.
It should also be noted that Igon can be compared to Captain Ahab from Moby Dick. His heart desires to kill Bale much like how Ahab desires to kill the White Whale to the point that it kills him and everyone else, Ahab literally falls to the abyssal depths of the ocean along with the White Whale. Igon dies after the death of Bale the Dread, one last final voyage and hunt to put down the foe that ripped him of his body and fuelled his anger and desire for revenge.

â@@orenges7034in the AI battles Placidusax is a bit of a comeback king. In his second phase his teleporting lunge attacks tend do do massive damage to both health and poise.
@@ultramagnus1859 fair point. I just found it odd that even with all those assets heâs very much still capable of beating the really aggressive enemies and stuff. Cause even after all that teleporting he has a lot of down time

Placidusax mustâve been incredibly powerful, got jumped by bayle, and still ripped his wings off, his hands and his leg!!?? He lost two heads but knowing Bayle was retreating, it looks like Placidusax was chasing the mf down, bit into Bayles neck and held on until Bayle ripped away, absolute savage! No wonder heâs Dragon Lord!

Jagged Peak is a story
There once was a mighty dragon.
A second appeared, and they fought.
The winner survived and lived long enough to be called ancient. ("Senessax" = "Old dragon", IE, Placidusax)
The other died and went to hell, where his spite and wickedness festered for the rest of time, as surely as the wounds he took which would never heal.
Also, while Igon is obviously supposed to evoke the story of Moby Dick, in this case, there is no whale. The "white whale" in question is actually well characterized, as a spiteful maimed loser who's spent an eternity sitting in hell and seething at Placidusax for tearing off his leg. Both Igon AND Bayle are Captain Ahab.

Igon, honestly it looks like his armor is scattered pieces of other drake warriors who fell to Bayle. I wonder if he did this in a form of symbolism. To ensure they too see the end of the monster that killed them. He may be so desperate to be summoned to the fight for this reason. He may be carrying countless lives in that patchwork armor. He may feel they deserve to see Bayle's end more than he does.
how come the drakes in this dlc can use ancient dragon red lightning? in the base game its made pretty clear only the ancient dragons/ those blessed by the dragons can use this stuff

My guess is Bayle was shunned as freak by the Ancient Dragon. Placideucax probably looked down hard on Bayle. This is why he doesn't liked to be looked down up by others.
I played this quest while high and the build up while climbing the mountain was the most tense Iâve ever felt.
Hunting dragons is nothing like other fantasy games portray it. It isnât epic, itâs terrifying. Just looking for the thing, unsure of whether the rolling stones from the cliff above were from the weather or if the dragon is stalking you just out of sight. The mountain becomes barren the higher you climb, as if all live is trying to get away from this dragon. Being the knight tasked with fighting the dragon has to be the scariest thing one can be XD

He wounded plac with a sneak attack plac return with such fury that made bayle run all the way to the shadow land and hide in the highest mountain he can find that don't sound like a stalemate to me đ

You canât sneak 2 whole heads off and use them as armour without being somewhat on the same level just get over the fact that plac got blitzed and 2 of his heads ripped off
Placi lost two heads in the process. Regardless of a sneak attack or not, he did not come out unscathed. Same goes for Bayle. It was most definitely on even ground
@@aayewhyythey were on equal level, but bayle still attacked by ambush and ran off when he started to see it not go his way. And i donât think heâs using the heads as armor, theyâre stuck to him and probably hurts like hell since he can get them off.
