If they’re changing the suspension layouts to front pullrod and rear pushrod in ‘25 it might take Lewis and Charles several races to get up to speed, because the front end will be heavier at first due to having to make sure it’s strong enough to pass the crash tests.
It might take Leclerc a little bit to adjust but Lewis is already used to it, Mercedes uses that suspension already. It also sounds like Newey will be building cars for Ferrari and we know that is the preferred suspension for him. Charles will benefit greatly with Lewis being his teammate. BTW... Love your content F1 Jesus!!!
Wouldn’t a rear suspension layout change also potentially affect the cockpit position? Depending on how they position the gearbox as well, obviously. Knowing Lewis’ preference, that might be something Ferrari are working on for the SF-25.

Generally oversteer really hasn’t been an issue for him in the past. 2012 for example he drove that car right on the nose. It was the unpredictable snap oversteer in high speed corners that bothered both Merc drivers with these ground effect cars. Agree that the qualifying issues this year are definitely tyre related but more tyre temperature issues as opposed to deg.

You are right to some extent, but it doesn't excuse the length and extent of bad performance he puts up. Right now, Red Bull is not a clear favourite anymore, but Perez's troubles started way before, and it isn't just the top contender teams that give him a hard time. He constantly makes huge driver mistakes and drops out before Q3 in quali / compromises his race. He’s better in the race then overall qualifying like Leclerc for example who has more poles then wins. Lewis has always been an outstanding race driver and quali but where he is above the rest is in the race
@@F1Unchained I understand what you were saying, I just think that Lewis has been considered stronger in qualifying most of his career. I’ve been watching for 20 years and I remember that even in his rookie season the talk was about his ability to qualify over Alonso’s racecraft. That stayed as his strength through all of his teammates. I fully believe that he is a strong racer too and I believe like all “experienced” racers, you probably lose a little bit in qualifying as you get older and if you are talented like Lewis is you inherently become a stronger racer.
He isn’t saying Lewis didn’t good in qualifying. He’s amazing, but he is stronger in race pace than he is qualifying. Hence why he has so many wins not starting from pole. Vettel on the other hand, amazing qualifier, but never won a race starting outside the top 3
Love the content. I think '25 for LH is once again a "test" year for him ... getting to know the Ferrari car and team. He is not a slouch so he will not be at the back of the pack, but I thing hovering around 5 - 8 place with perhaps an occasional podium. I think '26 is the big year where he will have had input on the car and the fact that GRUNT is going to be favored over ground effect, LH driving style will be best suited. If he does not get his 8th title in '26, his chances in '27 are slim. I think in '28 he will be out on his other projects - acting being the most favored IMO - but he has many other interests and projects. I am more interested in the teeam dynamic that is looming. CLC has "had it his way" since #5 left. Do you really think #44 will play 2nd fiddle ? I am not so convinced and if #44 gets lead, will CLC stick around ?
Really one of your most interesting episodes because this is a topic that many of us are already thinking about, so voila! here it is. I suppose since most teams will be planning next year as much as possible now, so that they can get onto 2026 as early as possible next year, I think it's hard to predict any conclusive answer since they haven't figured this car out and let's face it, they are regressing. We know this is an historic problem with them that we thought they had figured out in Japan last year...so maybe there is hope that they get it together. It seems to be floating in various states of compromises and we see the result of that.
How Hamilton adapts to the Ferrari is the most interesting storyline of 2025. Changing teams & cars has been disastrous for some drivers. Danny Ric was on it at Red Bull & Renault but the McLaren didn't work for him at all
Very thorough video, but I thought Lewis liked his cockpit further forward to brake late? The problem was Mercedes lacked rear end stability, when he moved his cockpit forward it upset the car's balance?
Charles is one of the fastest there is, but I’d still put my money on Lewis over the year. He’ll just make better calls, won’t buy into Ferrari’s daft strategy calls, and mostly cause he knows how to put together a decent season and hoover up points instead of going all in. As a fan of both I’m really looking forward to it, although I wish he’d finish his career at Mercedes
you nailed it on the head! its my ONE concern with lewis going to ferrari; they wont give carlos the rear end over charles, why would they change philosophy AGAIN for lewis.
I'll be curious to see because Ferrari Drivers, at least since 2012, have had to use more steering lock than other teams during cornering. Hamilton's current set up at Mercedes shows him to have very positive and quick steering. So it'll be interesting to see if he carries that over or they adapt to him or he adapts to it.
I hope Ferrari doesn't get stuck in the trap of developing the car to suit the driver. I think they have a lot more problems in house with development fall off through out the year. I thought they made a good step this year on tires but through the season they are lagging yet again. Its understandable with the competition but it will only be tougher next year. Hopefully they can get their logistics right. They have the technical expertise and never really had bad drivers. so its all there if they get everything aligned.
I have been reading that Ferrari will concentrate on the 2025 car. The want to make it with the driver position further back and pull rod front and push rod rear suspension. They want a car that Lewis will like.
@@manasatatikonda the pressure of trying to beat Hamilton and Mercedes destroyed Vettel. Their was no politics for Vettel he just choked when Leclerc started whooping him. And Alonso is as good as ever.
before watching the video i would say ferrari is very similar to the mclarens lewis used to drive and he was godly in qualifying in those cars his quali only changed after coming to mercedes if 2025 tires are anything similar to previous years i think he should be comfortably equal to leclerc from the get go
I think another aspect of the move will be how Lewis is going to help out Ferrari. I'm interested to see how his experience will help out the team and drive the development of the car for 26.
I'm bummed he's going to Ferrari. It's going to be so painful suffering from the Ferrari pit wall strategy and likely a car that doesn't fit his style. I think Mercedes and Redbull make the best race decisions overall. Ferrari have bottled soo many races. Maclaren probably lost Silverstone because they focused too much in what other teams were doing. Instead of just doing the best strategy for their car. They were the only team with a new medium. The best tire for the situation. They waited for Mercedes. Pitted a lap after them, losing time on track, Lando misgudged the slippery pit box, they didn't put the best tires available. Lewis passes as they leave the pits. And then Max overtook him. They needed to call their race. Pit when they needed to. And put the best tires they had on. Be decisive when leading. Not reactive. But they still got a podium. Meanwhile, Leclerc finished p16? Should have finished in the points. The car and driver were more than capable. But Ferrari strategy absolutely doomed Leclerc.

if the mechanics listen to the driver's suggestion and report, then they can adjust the car, but if the driver doesn't say anything, nobody can change the car, as for Hamilton in Ferrari, I personally don't care what the car will be like, because from the Vetel-Kimi period, the car is more designed and modified for Vetel, why? Because it is 4 times WDC, the same thing will happen with Hamilton and I believe that Ferrari made a real historical moment for the team and of course Hamilton who will win the 8th title (honestly speaking the 9th because 8 was stolen from him by fraud in AD 2021) with Hamilton, many constructors and mechanics from Mercedes will move to Ferrari
No Lewis Hamilton will probably will a few races with Ferrari but in all honesty, not a title fight. Ferrari is a 2 steps back in development vs Mercedes. Not only is the 2024 car development important leading into next year, but the all 2025 development will be towards the 2026 car. So Ferrari can’t afford to change its philosohy again.
I’m hoping a champ like Lewis will dictate what he needs. He won’t tolerate the ‘we are checking’ style 🤣 I really want Bono to go with him. Lollipopman comics covered off the poor Ferrari strategy brilliantly 😂😂 czcams.com/video/pFubu6VZ16E/video.htmlsi=QIuznJIehBQrNgxn

Excellent video, so informative and in detail.
😁❤️
Nice video. I’ll subscribe 🎉
Did Lewis do a Fernando move!? 🤔
Good question well made video!
I mean the 2023 Ferrari car was a stable platform for amy style.
Agreed I even say that, but the understeer helped the tires for the car later on
100k soon !!🔥🔥🔥
Ferrari needs to just get a handle on their development
Just think how many races he would have won if he wasn't being held back............well at least he wasn't saying the team was racist again.
Agreed my friend I’m so exited to see all the solutions for 2026
I'll give you better one:
"Will Hamilton's driving style work with the Ferrari's racing strategy in 2025?"
Can u do video like this about checo? Why he is struggling so much now?
Nice analysis!
Make a video about the third element that mercedes introduced for the front suspension
Please
Thinking about it :)
So he drives opposite from Verstappen which is early braker.
Yes
@@F1Unchained I hope he does well at Ferrari and doesn't have the Vettel experience (So close but still so far).
How Hamilton adapts to the Ferrari is the most interesting storyline of 2025. Changing teams & cars has been disastrous for some drivers. Danny Ric was on it at Red Bull & Renault but the McLaren didn't work for him at all
❤Awesome info thanks.👍
Thank you ❤️
@@F1Unchained have a nice week , looking forward to the next upload 👍🥰
NEW F1UNCHAINED VIDEO, LETS GOOOO
😁❤️
Side by side comparaison shows that Russell get a better straight line speed. A better party mode?
Very thorough video, but I thought Lewis liked his cockpit further forward to brake late? The problem was Mercedes lacked rear end stability, when he moved his cockpit forward it upset the car's balance?
To me it seems like Leclerc and Sainz are evenly matched and it's more down to which track they are on and luck who's going to benefit.
Hamilton will lead them next year
Will have to see. Leclerc definitely won’t back down
😂😂😂
Leclerc had his chance now let's see what Lewis can bring!
Lead them where?
@@AndyFromBeaverton he'll answer that when the time comes!
Let’s not fool around, anything past qualifying in Monaco was not a measure of the car that weekend. It was a parade.
Dude, you are without question the most insightful F1 content creator. Love the technical take you being, day in and day out.
Keep it up, my man!
Thank you my friend ❤️
My hope around Ferrari gaining huge amounts of momentum and catching McLaren/Max Bull is flip flopping more than the 2021 championship leader
Just wanna say mate, youve won me quite abit of money especially with calling that Lewis win at Silverstone he was 22-1 to win on Thursday
Glad to help my friend 😉
you nailed it on the head! its my ONE concern with lewis going to ferrari; they wont give carlos the rear end over charles, why would they change philosophy AGAIN for lewis.
because Lewis can adapt better than Carlos
I'll be curious to see because Ferrari Drivers, at least since 2012, have had to use more steering lock than other teams during cornering. Hamilton's current set up at Mercedes shows him to have very positive and quick steering. So it'll be interesting to see if he carries that over or they adapt to him or he adapts to it.
good content
Most decorated driver - literally and figuratively.
Frédéric Vasseur will give SLH what he needs to be happy.
Hamilton made the wrong move , but Merc didn’t want him on long contract. So I understand his move to Ferrari
Ferrari, the best car to destroy champions, Vettel and Alonso tried but didnt succeed much, lets hope Lewis doesnt although i doubt it.
Very true
Haha yeah Ferrari, where world champions go to die.
Ferrari's inner politics destroyed both ALO & VET.
@@manasatatikonda the pressure of trying to beat Hamilton and Mercedes destroyed Vettel. Their was no politics for Vettel he just choked when Leclerc started whooping him.
And Alonso is as good as ever.
@@shmazy86 absolutely agreed..!!
before watching the video i would say ferrari is very similar to the mclarens lewis used to drive and he was godly in qualifying in those cars his quali only changed after coming to mercedes if 2025 tires are anything similar to previous years i think he should be comfortably equal to leclerc from the get go
I think another aspect of the move will be how Lewis is going to help out Ferrari. I'm interested to see how his experience will help out the team and drive the development of the car for 26.
Will next year be Ferrari's year??
Not sure honestly it’s always a guess with them
Lewis with ferrari strategy! Will ferrari listen lewis or lewis follow ferrari strategy it's going to be interesting
New viewer. I was shocked to see the mic u have when u came on screen. Should be pointed more towards ur mouth. Would sound more full. Ur outside it’s polar pattern. Great content. New sub
I think he'll adapt. He's one of the best tbh
I agree
I mean lets be honest, they are going to put Both drivers on Inters in the dry to play some 4D chess.
Imo this is such an overblown concept. 95% of driver feel can be solved in setup. Fast drivers drive cars fast. Just look at Max’s career
Great anylasis
IMO With Lewis Joining and Ferrari and Ferrari having a decent car the past few years Lewis Brings his championship experience and knowledge of what a Championship car should be built like this and he’d be joining other former Mercedes employees with similar qualities to add to Ferraris overall performance and success #anotherGreatonechamp🏎️
why less comments
Wouldn't it be hilarious if Lewis joins ferrari, and Mercedes goes on to win more in 2025...
if the mechanics listen to the driver's suggestion and report, then they can adjust the car, but if the driver doesn't say anything, nobody can change the car, as for Hamilton in Ferrari, I personally don't care what the car will be like, because from the Vetel-Kimi period, the car is more designed and modified for Vetel, why?
I used to love your vids, but as an old engineer for Force India, I need to say that is so much wrong with this viideo
I don’t think he will fall for that and still stick to his guts like usual
He needs to be worried about what happens in the pits.
I am not sure it will be a big deal but what about Lewis adopting to the Ferrari engine?. He has driven Mercedes enines forever and they have the best power low down to punch out of corners.
Do you realise how silly you sound when you compare the greatest F1 driver of all time with Sainz and Le Clerc as if he is just another F1 driver. Give some respect.
Ferrari is a champion killer laterly.. hope Lewis dont fall in that pit..
