    Vos cours de piano sont passionnants !
    Je trouve que la Toccata de Pierre Sancan (écrite en 1943) est très inspirée de cette Toccata de Prokofiev.
    La musique modale est vraiment bizarre... (elle me semble décadente), et j'ai l'impression qu'au 21e siècle, elle est en perte de vitesse par rapport à la musique tonale...
    Mais vous avez réussi à rendre cette musique passionnante ! 😃

Merci bcp de ce très beau commentaire. J'apprécie énormément. A très bientôt !

    Elle est fantastique cette Toccata ! Encore une qu'on a envie de réécouter à la suite. Bravo pour ce travail de "folie." Ces notes répétées comme produites par une machine des temps modernes, ce côté à la fois froid et ouaté, cette sorte d'atonalité suivie d' une harmonie chaleureuse, tout cela est très magnétique, addictif. Je n'ai pas encore écouté tes explications, mais la Toccata, plusieurs fois, d'habitude je n'accroche pas à Prokofiev mais on dirait que là c'est une exception qui donne envie de découvrir un peu plus ce compositeur (en tant qu'auditrice surtout, j'aurais pas envie de m'y coller...lol). Bravo pour cette vidéo encore parfaite.

    Sans même parler de la technique, rien que pour la mémoire ça doit être vraiment un casse-tête!
    Ce n’est pas spécialement ce que j’aime le plus, peut-être parce que je n’ai jamais essayé de jouer prokofieff. Cela dit tes explications m’ont rendu cette musique plus intelligible. Et au final j’ai bien aimé.
    Si je voulais aborder proko, tu me conseillerais quelle pièce? (Pas trop longue, et de mon niveau puisqu’on se connaît un peu…)

    👏🏻👏🏻 you think it’s hard on the piano you should see the organ performance of this piece by “Vincent Dubois” one of the titular organists at notre dame- it’s sensational and sounds so different on organ 👏🏻👍🏻🍻🥃

      No doubts it does sound different. I know very little about playing the organ and how difficulties translate from on instrument to the other. maybe the fact there are several keyboard make it easier on organ than on piano? maybe because there is a pedal with the feet helps (or actually make it harder) I have no idea. I can ask one of my organist friends. It's an interesting question you are raising... Thank you fro bringing it up and thank you for listening too. Totally appreciated,

    Great tune by the composer! Why does Laurent use that much the sustain pedal? No need...That's little bit too much for my taste. B.t.w. He is a damn' good musician!" No doubt about it! It should not sound that much "romantic" and I would not perform it with too much "rubato" ...Just to mention but dude, as always good job! Thank you so much for showing this! @@laurentboukobzapianiste Thank you Laurent! Well, there are a lot of issues I would like to see discussed or debated. The music of Prokoviev has a lot of jazz-harmonies and you performed "suggestion iabolique" and also the "toccata". There are so many jazz voicings and I love to perform Prokoviev more like someone who plays percussion ( or drums)....Do you remember the british musician and pianist Peter Donahue who received a 2nd prize ( shared with Vladimir Ochinikov from Russia) during the 1982 ( or '84?) International Tschaikowsky Competition in Moscow? Donahue admitted that he played drums in a rock band and that's a background on music wich is quite interesting ...I like your style, too. Don't worry about that. Butt the toccata for me should sound bit more "percussive"...I appreciate your opinion on that! Take care! I appreciate your channel!

    • @laurentboukobzapianiste
      @laurentboukobzapianiste  Před 3 měsíci +2

      @@prokastinatore Makes a lot of sense what you are saying. You are absolutely right a Toccata means "touching" the keyboard, and in most cases, a more percussive approach is a way to do it, but, but, but, Maybe I am too romantic at heart, but I think composers (Ravel, Debussy, Prokofiev etc..) didn't want to prioritize only this effect as music remains music, meaning feelings, and I tend to look for more music than the obvious "percussive" aspect. Maybe I went too far and you are correct I should play it more percussive. I promise I'll think about it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in details. totally appreciated. and so happy you enjoy my channel.

      @prokastinatore Před 3 měsíci

      @@laurentboukobzapianiste Of course I'm going ahead to join your channel! You also mentioned an interesting issue by calling yourself "a romantic"- that's something we've got in common, too.
      A Bach-tocatta sounds different than the Ravel's toccata you played- according to Ravel I love listening the way how YOU performed it! It can be little kinda "romantic"....or so far: the sustain pedal brings different levels of color . I'd like to join it the way you play it! Amazing stuff!
      I tell you what I recently realized reading your important feedback: in my opinion the "masterpiece " what became ever composed by a human being is the St. Matthew -Pasion by Johan Sebastian Bach. Together with the mass in b-minor. I cannot imagine how it was possible to compose this music wich affects me like imaging that this music comes out of another universe. A totally and complete different space. Unbelievable and I guess only a very very small range of conductors, singers and musicians can nearly approach to this message...It's almost unplayable, if ya ask me. A professional mathematician would only touch the asymptote (next to the x axis). Just an approach. A touch of it. It's timeless and more fare than only expressing spiritual issues. You can smell the scent of females, the scent of higher spirits, the scent of something different...Maybe the scent of eternity whatever it means.
      What I try to say is that Bach's Matthew passion was written during the baroque era but I don't like to listen to musicians who are performing this with support of castrato voices and barque violins and organs.
      The world had the gift that Karl Richter existed. He conducted the st. Matthew passion multiple times with the Munich Bach choir and Munich Bach orchestra and the character of Richter and the way he interpreted I would describe kinda "romantic"- but it's rich of colors and rich of satisfying and full sound- no matter if we regard the orchestra or the choir. Or both plus the soloists singing all the parts.
      Richter's recordings are a reference and he created a standard wich was never ever reached again.
      The so called "musicologist" would say "What the heck are you doin' by playing it like Chopin?" - The answer is simple: performing it rich, large and sensitive.
      And that's why I love the way you played the toccata by Ravel.
      Of course: the use of the sustain pedal according to different pieces of Ravel is the use and also I use it. What would be the 2nd movement of the g-+- piano concerto without using the sustain pedal? Or "Scarbo" ( if I could understand French way better, I would like to learn how it must feel to comprehend the poems written by Alois Bertrand?) - but again: it's "legal" to play Ravel's toccata the way you do.
      Talking about Prokoviev and his toccata I got imaginations I described earlier. Communism must have been a thread for the majority of Russians. Cold. Controlled. Tough. So his "toccata" deserves another color and if you might agree with me that the soviet dictatorship could represent everything but not romantic temptations. More cold blooded. Functional. Maybe a taste of Neo-classicim. I'm nit sure at all.
      The use of too much sustain pedal does not match. IMHO. But maybe I'm wrong....
      Prokofiev went to the US and also played in London (England) and after he returned to Russia , this great composer was supervised by th soviets and it's well known that he was suffering from that brainwashed soviets who always tried to brainwash it's citizens. And being an artist during this times must have been a nightmare...
      That's maybe why Horowitz, Stravinsky and so many other Russians left Russia. I don't know!
      Take good care and I appreciate listening to you, buddy!
