I loved Lootera then and was baffled when audiences didn't like it. It is one of Ranveer's best performance. The music of Amit Trivedi was gold and I still listen to this soundtrack. Top class performances, direction, background score and cinematography. Absolute masterpiece
For me it is Ranveer Singh's best performance to date. I never could have in my wildest dreams imagined him as the quiet, sly and emotional Varun. Ranveer is a really energetic person and to see him pull off such a character was unimaginable for me. Ever since Lootera I have wanted to see Ranveer play a role like this again!
Lootera is incomplete without "Zinda hun Yar kaafi hai". Brilliant use of song and it's music throughout
Amit Trivedi ❤️
Incomplete without amit trivedi
Bro u spoke my heart! One of the underrated songs ❤
♥️
I've said it a 100000 times that Lootera is a *Masterpiece* some might find it slow but for me it's just perfect...the acting, the direction, set, DOP and the heart of this film Amit Trivedi's masterwork album...do yourself a favour and go watch this film.
Hawaao se Jo maanga hissa Mera.....toh badle Mai hawa ne saaas Di.....akelepan se chedi jab guftgu...mere Dil ne aavaaz di
Absolutely correct bro! Amit Trivedi music (& Amitabh Bhattacharya lyrics) is so so underrated in this film! Never heard such kind of music in recent Bollywood.
It is a stunning piece of art. I honestly didn't expect such subtle strength from Ranveer at all and for the first time I really appreciated Sonakshi. It was such an immersive experience for me
@@shrinathghadge854 Seriously....and his latest work in Manmarziyaan was also my favourite album of that year along with Laila majnu
@@ifediran. Well Said🙏
It is slow because it has to be slow. You will be able to get the essence of the film only when the pace is slow
Plus, Ranveer was surprisingly really good in a 'quiter' role
I was so, so impressed with Sonakshi's acting/casting. Also, Vikrant Massey. I loved the atmosphere of the movie. It's among my favourites...
Underrated piece of Art. Can not believe Ranveer was just two films old when he acted in this masterpiece...❤️
My heart also broke as Anu ji said, when Ranveer says "You were the last shot at life and I let it go", it felt like Ranveer almost felt everything himself while he enacted the scene.
Ranveer is an amazing actor, no matter the flamboyance he throws in ads etc, he has a deep feeling within which is why he comes out with flying colours in roles like this, Murad (gully boy)
This movie is one of the rarest movies in Bollywood that moves you and remain with you for the longest time. The first time I watched it, I replayed it 4 more times at the same time. It's a masterpiece
For me, the best part of Lootera is the ambience/environment and the music. The Dalhousie part of the story feels like a dream sequence.. The vibe, the energy, the quietness, the color palette...use of blues and greys, just perfect.
The movie didn't have a single extravagant thing - no bright neon colors, no unnecessary item numbers or rap, no overacting, no loud background score, no heavy dialogs, chase sequence isn't the usual adrenaline filled, Pakhi's sorrow and Varun's sad upbringing are not focused on in a way to invoke pity... Everything is in synch with the pace of the movie, true to the nature of the story. Slow and simmering...To perfection.
Please revisit “October” and “Swades”.
October-yes
For swades, I think now everyone has realized its great movie 😅😅
@@Lazymath007_ true 😝 but Anupama ji didn’t liked it much when it released.
Are you Sucharita????
@@divesh613 tf
october is a snoozefest. dont get the hype at all
Please do a retake on Rocket Singh- salesman of the year.
Yes Yes and Yes!
Yes please ☺️ please 😊 please
I am so glad we're finally seeing Rahul and Anupama together! I missed that starting piano sequence!!
Lootera is all about *Ranveer Singh* + *Vikram Aditya motwane* + *Ammit Trivedi* + *Sonakshi*= Magic ❤️
Masterpiece. One of the best performance by ranveer
One of my all time favorite movies. We have watched it so many times and loved it every time. The background music and the amazing performances - magic!
Please do consider 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy' for your upcoming retakes.
@Truth Seeker me too
Anyways this channel has most interviews with him and its not just a ssr movie
The real soul of the movie is dibarkar banerjee
Lootera is really the most underrated movie ever. Also, Sonakshi's first and probably last film as a true heroine. I don't understand if she is capable of this, why doesn't she do more of these? What's this lust for box office success that makes her do only the action Jacksons and the dabangs. Although I feel, Ranveer wasn't the right choice for this role. His acting was not at par with Sonakshi's, & hence stuck out. The only scene I liked him was the confrontation scene with Sonakshi in the second half (almost similar to the prelude to agar tum saath ho from tamasha where Tara is trying to hold on to Ved while he is struggling to escape her clutches). Really a heartbreaking scene and performed amazingly by both Ranveer & Sonakshi- being vulnerable with each other for the first time (and I cried like a mad person in a theatre with 4 other people).
Vikrant Massey's role too was one that became the new development to typical friend roles in bwood. He was nothing like the cliche friends we've seen in hindi films before. Loved his acting. It's a pity they didn't even give him a script before the movie & yet he pulled it off so well. 👍
I think Vikramaditya Motwane is really among the best we have, sometimes I feel he is even better than Anurag, but of course it's an unpopular opinion. I haven't seen a single bad Vikramaditya movie.
you should be there instead of rahul, you have a great eye and this is an articulate,to the point and a really detailed review, great.
@@mohammedsahir5737 Thank you so much.
Wow, you critic is so to the point yet very respectful, keep up the good work 🙏
@@deepashrestha1818 You really have no idea how much these appreciations mean to me. 🙏❤️
Anupama your happiness and your positive voice makes me happy. My husband just said... This woman loves her work. HE doesn't know much about Hindi cinema. 😅😊
Such an underrated masterpiece
Dil chahata hai. For the first time the movies made indians look cool. The music, the clothes, the haircuts, it had the "Friends" vibe for a generation of indians. Also, it changed the movie landscape of the indian film industry.
Couldn't find the mandatory "want Anupama ma'am's voice in the beginning" comment on this video. So here's that comment.
thank you! The first half is just mesmerizing. I just loved how they show paakhi's feelings develop, from her perspective. The secret glances. We don't get an inside view into a woman's feelings like that. And the music! Just lovely.
So happy that you guys decided to bring Lootera to FC retake. Such an underrated and beautiful film. Thanks guys!
This is one of the best movie made in Bollywood...taking best out of both Ranveer and Sonakshi. Kuddos to Amit Trivedi and Amitabh Bhattacharya a gem of songs..zinda , Ankahee, Shikayaten, Manmarziya and background music just take movie to another level. An Highly underrated piece of Art..love it watching it again..almost 7th time now
The best of FC is Retake!
In recent times where social media is full of mediocrity, this is what you call a content.
Would definitely like to revisit...
Roy, Baar Baar dekho, Finding Fenny, Fitoor, Barfi, Guzaarish.
Looking forward to more of it!
Social media is full of vitriol
Lootera made me feel that Sonakshi is a very good actor......the only thing she has to do is to choose good scripts.....she lived Pakhi....Her grace...her eyes every thing made me fall in love with pakhi.....sona deserves more pakhi.....thanks film companion for this ......
I just wished her, Kunal khemu's and adity's characters in kalank were given more priority than alia's and varun's character. It could be a better piece.
@@parulakter7514 oml
I always wanted to say this
Please consider "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani".
It was way ahead of its time, considering what is happening now.
Most underrated gem of Bollywood. Loved it . Best Movie❤️❤️
I saw lootera for the first time and i loved it so much. The story and the way it was presented is so beautiful.
I feel that Ranveer's character was modelled around Jimmy Valentine, who was a protagonist of the story "A Retrieved Reformation".
Yes. That's also a short story by O Henry
wow thanks for reminding
I rewatched lootera a few weeks ago and fell in love all over again. The texture, milieu and the quietness just sucks you in. Sonakshi Sinhas only and the best performance and Ranveer too. The music.. Ufff!
From story to acting to cinematography to music.., everything about this film is beautiful ...
He is not type casted , he is doing every kind of roles , upcoming also
.
Lootera is masterpiece man!! Ranveer was damn good.. the writing, the screenplay everything. It's kinda poetic movie! I totally felt it and loved it
I loved Lootera so much that I just couldn't get it out of my head. Visuals, music and performances were outstanding plus Motwane is a star. Remember seeing this alone, one of the rare ones that I did. An almost empty theatre, took the centre seat on the top row and I felt like I was there with these characters. Rare experience.
Pls review Johnny Gaddar next time, whatta gem that was!!!!
Lootera! What a masterpiece movie and art! This is the type of romance I always like to see in Bollywood (like Masaan, Photograph, Pyaasa, etc.) Motawane is the legends of such types of realistic dramas (Udan). This film is just sweet poetry. I was totally surprised to see a mass actor like Ranvir Singh nailing such a soft and poetic role (and Sonakshi too). Only because of this movie, I never dislike and doubt her acting skills. And of course the Music of this film! The legend Amit Trivedi + Amitabh Bhattacharya is an absolutely epic combo in this movie. Each song is a different feeling. I can't tell how many times I have heard Manmarziya and Zinda & I still listen to them daily. "Yun to solah saavan aaye gaye, Gaur nahi kiya humne" !!! Feels sad that such underrated gems never get deserving fame. Also, please do retake for Wasseypur, Lunchbox, tamasha, Masaan etc.
Sonakshi is a strong actress. I was impressed with her in "Noor". Lootera is a masterpiece no doubt. It deserves all the acclaim.
Loved this piece!
Please consider Guzaarish by Sanjay Bhansali available on Netflix- it will grow on you on second watch
The reason why it would be fit for the FC Retake segment is because-
1. It tanked at the box office, despite getting rave reviews from few critics
2. It is a culmination of Bhansali's best works put into one.
3. It stars Hrithik and Aishwarya who give one of their best performances in Hindi Cinema.
4. The second half turns into a courtroom drama with some well written and staged scenes.
Also Rocket Singh- Salesman of the Year(another Ranbir coming of age flick, but yeah)
I would love to see a retake on BOMBAY VELVET. Cause when I saw it the 2nd time recently my perception of the film completely changed.
I have already seen Lootera 5 times; now I am going to watch it for the sixth time.
Recommendation:- Anushka Sharma's Pari. I remember reading reviews written by both Anupama and Rahul. Rahul had liked it; Anupama had called it something on the lines of 'stupid script'. It would be interesting to hear you both talk about it now.
An understated film with so many under rated songs❤️
Please consider Shor In The City as your next retake. A very underrated dark comedy movie in india!
A beautiful attempt of recreating The Last Leaf on celluloid with sub continental pathos.
Pure & subtle. ❤️❤️
I think the difference between fanaa and lootera is tht even though technically they had the same ending....one wasn't painful..and the other was extremely painful...i rooted for things to resolve by the end in lootera and it was so heartbreaking when they didn't.
One of my favorite...poetry in motion.
Please do a retake of Dil Se, especially Manisha's performance & Mani Ratnam's direction
Thank you for this lovely conversation about one of my favourite films! Enjoyed listening in. :)
I was 13 when I saw lootera and I instantly liked it! and felt bad for them that it didn't became a successful venture
Please revisit swades, raincoat, lakshya, gangster, socha na tha.
Exactly, this Film is like a fine wine. The world have recognised it so late. One of my favourite Movie's. Oh Man, I've cried so much during some scenes which were so poignant.
I just watched this masterpiece. It's a bliss to read comments to find similar minded people. This movie can actually be enjoyed to its depth by the people who have gone through some intense emotions in their life.
Agreed! Just watched it today alone and needed some discussion / forum around this to relive the experience.
I watched it today imagine...n started googling about it
Was waiting for Lootera ❤️
Beauuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful movie. I loved it. Watched it in 2021 for the first time. It's a masterpiece. Loved Ranveer the most, Sonakshi is amazing too...
Loved it...just loved it, the graph of movie keep on increasing till the end..
Mahendra J Shetty - wow What an DoP every frame is a painting ❤️🎨
Amit Trivedi’s music was so so good still on my favourite songs on playlists
So so glad to see Lootera being talked about! I fell in love with it and this is the film that caused me to change my mind about Ranveer Singh, who had not impressed me in Ladies vs Ricky Behl (and I was unsure whether I liked him or hated him in Band Baaja Baraat.) Sonakshi blew me away - I thought she had promise in Dabangg, but I'd not expected this level of maturity from her either. You make me want to re-watch it. :)
Please do Fitoor next... Such an underrated movie which shows the true acting potential of Aditya Roy Kapoor 🙏
The second half was disappointing
I love these and you don’t do enough!
Lootera is a masterpiece. Ending ho to aisi!
I watched LOOTERA recently and it blew my mind. I actually stood up and clapped in my room for this beautiful movie
Omg I was meaning to watch this film for so long n finally I did just 2 days back. Boyyy I LOVED it!!
One of Ranveer's best❤️
Yasss yass yass❤️❤️❤️ this film deserves so much more
This movie is me and my husband's go to movie whenever we are in the mood of something peaceful, quite and beautiful!!
I loved this movie. A silent gem. ♥️❤️💓💞💕
I would definitely recommend to have FC Retake done for movie Lakshya. Although it wasn't a success with its commercials, I think its a well made movie with some real good performance...
It is a shame that it wasn't successful
It's a classic for sure
Ya it was a great film
Even rocket singh, or Byomkesh Bakshi or any Abhay Deol film from 2006-2009
Would love to watch a retake on October
This is the best series by FC. All the hidden gems
I recommend Paari for your next episode. Recently watched in on Prime, it was interesting to say the least. Probably one of the first Indian horror movie I enjoyed in years.
Lootera is such a masterpiece! Thank for this, FC. How about Jaan-e-mann next? 😀
Lootera is one of the most underrated film- anyone who loved this movie should read The last leaf by o henry, you will find out why!
Also, can you do a retake on " Manorama 6ft under- Mr. and Mrs. Iyer and Ankhon Dekhi! Thank you!
was waiting for this one 😍
I have already requested this on Twitter, and requesting again, Plz Plz Plz do a retake on Mr. and Mrs. Iyer. It's one of my most favorite movies and I would Love to see your take on that. PLEASE! 🙏
Suppeeerrrrr duppperrrr Happy.
Lovedddd Lootera ❤️
Please do not retakes. Love the depths of cinema you guys discuss.
The movie is not long at all. I find it perfectly paced.
It's my favourite show
Absolutely loving this series!
Can you please do a retake session on "Ankhon Dekhi", "Delhi 6" or "October"?
Yeah , October
Sadly an underrated film. I loved it, why wasn’t it discussed before ?
Just watched lootera, i have had always heard about it as a flop and slow movie. But finally took time to watch it, i have already read O. Henry's "The last leaf " in my school days and it has been one of my favorite stories. The rendition of it into an Indian story was so beautifully done almost like an original, the movie builds up so beautifully like the innocence of a child, each scene is a piece of art in both the halves, you can just capture them as photographs and keep them, the songs hits you and rekindles your own incomplete romance. I have two favorite scenes:
1. Pakhi asks Varun to paint leaves in her landscape but he knows nothing about painting, but he promises her that he will make his masterpiece one day, in the second half when Pakhi associates her life to the leaves of the tree, that scene was truly a masterpiece for me, made me realize it was the story of "the last leaf".
2. When Varun tells Pakhi his real name "Atmanand Tripati" and they share a short giggle, it made me immensely happy and sad at the same time, hopeless love(romance). They both know they wont ever be together but still they continue to love eachother and cherish the moments they shared. Although its a classic tragedy movie, it brings joy to be able to experience such an art in the form of cinema. Thank you to the director Vikramaditya Motwane Sir. ❤
Thank you so much for discussing this gem🤗
It's one of the best films ever!
I had discovered Motwane quite early from his Udaan days which also I had watched in the theater and was looking for his next venture and he did not disappoint me at all. I did watch this movie in the theater and recommended all my friends to watch it too. I had discovered Vikrant Massey's acting prowess through this movie and he did a fantastic job in Dil Dhadakne Do which had a stellar cast. Quite late, I saw his performance in 'A Death in Gunj', was mind-blown by it. Some of the beautiful movies over time which has aged as fine wine or scotch (that I discovered or re-discovered are): Pyaasa, Tere Ghar Ke Saamne, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Guide, Jewel Thief (one of the best mystery thrillers for me along with Seven or Shutter Island) Safar, Amar Prem, Janne Bhi Do Yaaro, Ijaazat, Sparsh, Chasme Baddoor, Sadmaa (probably Kamal Hassan's and Sri Devi's best Hindi movie), Choti Si Baat, Saaheb, Meri Jung, Saaransh, Woh Saat Din, Chameli ki Shaadi (Anil Kapoor is another understated actor), Saajan, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Johnny Gaddar, Ek Hasina Thi (one of the best revenge dramas by a woman along with Gone Girl), Dasvadaniya, Bheja Fry, My brother, Nikhil, The Dirty Picture, Shanghai (Emraan Hashmi is another understated actor), Rangeela, Main Meri Patni, Aur Woh, Chameli, Jogger's Park, Satya, Kaun, Zubeidaa, Gangs of Wasseypur, Omkara, Haider (Both Saif and Shahid are quite understated actors), Aankho Dekhi, Udaan, Masaan, Aligarh, Paan Singh Tomar (Irfaan's best film probably along with The Namesake and Life in A metro -it's unfortunate that India's critics barring a very few also don't watch good movies), Lunchbox, The Namesake, Shahid, Sahib, Biwi aur Gangster, Ishqiya, Lakshya, Luck By Chance, Karthik Calling Karthik (Farhan Akhthar is another actor who's very understated). They should do a segment on Hollywood or Foreign movies, too and I would love to collaborate.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai! Although it's know to be a classic masala film, would love to hear about it through a critical lens.
It was my favourite movie of 2013. Probably one of the best hindi movies ever.
In 2013, fell in love. The absolutely soul crushing head over heels kind of love. The kind of love only an immature person can fall into. The songs from "Lootera" and "Aashiqui 2" were the soundtrack of that stupidly wonderful time. It all seems unreal now.
Super relate.
'Golden' time
Seven years man!!!! Time has flown like anything
I would love if you revisit Piku, Rab Ne Banadi Jodi & barfi.
Absolutely love this segment!!
Motwane❤️
Another good one for FC Retake would be Motwane's Bhavesh Joshi Superhero!
All motwane films r gems
Bhavesh Joshi is underrated as hell
I remember seeing it in the cinema hall with small audience. I loved it, it was different. But that small audience was so disappointed.
I loooove this movie!
Can you address the fact that all the ‘Retake’ movies were all box office blunders.
As an avid movie watcher, we need to watch these movies in theaters for them to make money and force producers to make more of these.
If only that could happen :((
It’s a beautiful film
Was waiting for this FC for so damn long. This movie is one of my all time favourites, besides having my favourite Ranveer performance till date. Of course, it wouldn't be what it became without that tour de force of a soundtrack by Amit Trivedi.
P.S. That should be 'eluded' in the description. Plz have it rectified.
Lootera is a beautiful piece of artistry!
FC team at their best, the way you break down the each aspect of movie is just amazing. I would love to watch FC retake of Dedh Ishqiya, that movie was hovering around both main stream & parallel cinema and still able to do the magic. Also has music as the character.
A retake on Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara would be epic
What a beautiful movie
Really happy
FC waking up to the existence of a masterpiece seven years after its release. Only after the actor becomes a box-office star. ;)
I LOVE LOVE THIS FILM
