    I believe the first campsite in the u.p. was at a place called island point. It used to be called hog island as there was a small island offshore. Spent many summers as a kid there riding our minibikes up and down the beach

    Dude great video and great Overlanding. I'm going to see if I can get my whole family on board with this. 2010 F-150 and a built 94 ZJ. I just need to finish the ZJ. What a great breakdown of you path and experiences.

    Great camping sites !! Beautiful adventures !! Hot water and WC ?! Damn, that's luxury camping mate !! And mosquito net ?! Wow, that's the way to do it !! Well done !! Loved that clear water on the geisers !! Those muddy passages look tasty, LOL !! Are those camp sites wild, or are they in some kind of park? Waiting for part 2 !! Loved it all, I love doing the same, just don't have the hot stuff, though, LOL LOL !! Cheers

      Thanks mate! It was a beautiful trip! Editing this got me all pumped up to want to go again. There are a lot of things, such as hot water, that I could do without but it keeps the wives happy, when the wives are happy we are happy and we get to camp more. :D The places we camped are within the various state and national forests that take up much of Michigan. I believe about two thirds of the Upper Peninsula is public forest. In the forests you are pretty much able to camp off the trails anywhere unless otherwise posted. Thanks for checking it out!

    Did y’all have any issues getting stuck on those roads? Looks pretty gnarly

    • @NarrowRoadAdventures
      @NarrowRoadAdventures  Před rokem

      Never got stuck. Most of the surfaces underneath was pretty solid. There was one slate rock climb that we missed videoing up near Copper Harbor that the F150 was rubbing his side steps on but with some spotting and rock placement we were able to get him through.

    That's not overlanding, your tents were on the ground.....that's camping! Just kidding. I spent a good part of my life on the forest roads. What all did you do on the ZJ?

    • @NarrowRoadAdventures
      @NarrowRoadAdventures  Před 5 lety +1

      We're so un-cool! lol Now that we've got a roof top tent we're legit overlanders! haha That's a short question with a long answer: I have built it from stock and has both axles swapped trussed locked and regeared , custom drive shafts, 6" long arm lift with 35s, some minor engine mods, I fabed the winch mount (now I have built a full front bumper and working on a rear bumper). That's most of the major stuff. Thanks for asking and for checking out my content. Have a great weekend!

    u should just let the up remain untouched

      William Kabelman That’s not up for decision any longer. It’s been mined and populated for hundreds of years. We were “touching” it very minimally, simply to appreciate it’s beauty. We believe that’s what the Earth is for, to explore it’s beauty and experience the greatness of its/our creator. Thanks for visiting our channel.

      You comment is full of !!! INCONSISTENCIES ;half truths.
      Firstly , you justify tearing up the land with your MONSTER TRUCKS--NOISEY,EXHAUST BELCHING,TRASH
      saying " that's what earth is for , exploring beauty of Our CREATOR"!!!
      The Lord did not have in mind ripping up the landscape in your "I'mma big man in my Ram truck" !!!!!You speak as if The Beautiful U.P. is populated like that dirtycity in the lower downstate TROLL AREA and full of mines.And, what is not DESTROYED," we comi' up and gonna finish the job becuz that is what earth is made for.;us and our BIG TRUCKS.". THERE are abandoned mines up there yet the U.P. is still very remote(like you said"2/3 is public forests") . It is NOT POPULATED END TO END with peopleT. The residents will agree , they don't want round the clock year round TROLLS TRAIPSING IN and OUT of our beautiful WOODED AREA for you " to enjoy." With your city ways and loud big trucks.
      Stay downstate.ROON the area down there where YOU live.RIP UP ,DESTROY. and RUT the roads DOWN THERE where YOU live .Oh,you can't becuz " We road they them all and there ain't no more left#"We do not need your snow-mobiling,pick up snorting, landscape ripping , NOISEY DESTRUCTIVE WAYS up here.
      You may be "minimally touching the land " , others will not be as considerate and may MASSIVELY INVADE and DESECRATE,DAMAGE/ DESTROY THE LANDSCAPE!!!!!!
      It is your decision !!!!!!!

      William Kabelman : I AGREE 100%.
      Man's "manifest destiny" -- destroy what I left untouched in nature.
      They move to areas that are remote or farm country .Pretty soon everyone is there only to DESTROY the very thing that brought these people out in the environs in the first place with their cookie- cutter suburbs and businesses.
      Horrible.
      HEARTBREAKING.
