This is a quick mic shootout between the SM57 and the 545SD. Vocals by @TheRoseMusicBoxx My Social Media linktr.ee/subtonic24 Instagram: / subtonic24
THIS!!! Is how mic shoot outs should be done! ❤️🥰. To the point! None of that yapping about blah blah blah! I love the A/B way of doing it with the reveal at the end. Really takes away the preconceived bias. For a mic nerd like me, this shoot out was perfect. Thank you 👏❤️
@@subtonic24 I like using vintage (especially Made in U.S.A.) Unisphere (565SD, or similar) mics on vocals, over a regular 58. To my ear they have more detail (almost as much as a Beta), but with a smooth/silky/subtle presence peak that is both less sibilant, and less harsh... And they look cool.
@@StephenTack I'd love to hear this reissue 545SD vs a vintage USA one in person. The new ones are made in China, but based on other videos I have watched, it sounds exactly like the vintage ones! The 565SD definitely looks interesting! How is the grille on it? I've seen used 565SD's online all dented up like they are fragile.
@@subtonic24I'm not a fan of the reissued 565SD compared to (a good example of) the vintage USA or even Mexico mic. To me it just sounds basically like a modern 58, maybe the second transformer winding does something even in low z mode, but there's no magic like with the Woodstock mics. And while the grill is the same, the body is machined much more coursely, and the black plastic isn't shiny like the old mics. The vintage grills are just slightly more delicate than 58 grills, and are old, so often dented. On the flip side, I've re-sphericalized many with the butt of a drum stick...they are easy to reform, unless too mangled.
This stuff makes me so excited and inspired to make music
Im glad you found this inspiring! 😁 Thanks for watching!!

Shure sm57 очень душевно звучит!
Another great video!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank youuuu so much!!!!
A - 545
B - 57
Which impedance setting was on 545?
It was on Lo-Z setting, the default setting it ships at. Thanks for watching!
@@subtonic24 🙏
B = 545? I’m just guessing because I have never heard the 545 and A sounds a lot like the newer 57s.
lol, I failed.
Haha it's all good. Thanks for watching!
The 57 wsa just a bit more sibilant with this singer.
Yup I agree! Quite surprising that the 57 was more sibilant despite it being slightly darker than the 545SD. Thanks for watching!

Pause the video during the results if it's too fast for you.
even if its fast you can read on the microphones which is which haha
@@subtonic24 phone won't pause CZcams "shorts".
@@sekritskworl-sekrit_studios I can pause YT shorts with my phone so it's weird that you can't. Mic A is the 545SD.
@@subtonic24 really? Yeah, that is weird.
