One of my favorite scenes is when everything falls apart and they're trying to explain that "Mr. and Mrs. Coleman" are both men and it's because of the way he shows such utter bewilderment and confusion. It looks so genuine you'd swear he was never given the whole script. 😂
Agador making a spectacular entrance when they’re all singing to try and show that he can be a singer in the club to Armand is a little detail i absolutely love in the scene. No one in this is wasted and it’s a testament to how great this movie is

This whole dinner set of scenes, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave, is probably the finest comedy writing in a movie, every character every scene every detail is perfect and it's such an incredible set of comedic circumstances 1 after the other, Robin Williams at his best. Never laughed so much at someone banging there head against a cupboard losing the will to live because the waiter didn't make an entrée. Genius.
"And from that day on, they decided to find a cemetery that they really loved instead of eating tofu!" LOL. I never noticed that line before. I can only imagine the story that Nathan Lane's character had concocted about his family to entertain Senator Keely and his wife. LOL.
Even Robin Williams cracks up! You can see him break character at 5:44. The fact they left this in is probably the best take they could get. How these guys didn't laugh even more I don't know.
So when I was told that La Cage had an American remake starring Robin and Nathan I assumed that Robin would in the dress and Nathan would be the loud one pushing a doomed schme because I grew up with Mrs Doubtfire and Timon/Max Bialystock. I'm both pleasantly surprised and admonishing myself for ever typecasting them. They nailed this!
I grew up in the 80's and 90's. We had our issues just like today. In the moment everyone sees the bad and saying how everything is horrible, but a decade out a lot of times we carryover the good things and become nostalgic. A lot of times it's because we don't have what we didn't appreciate then. So the question is, what aren't we appreciating today? Also, keep reality goggles on instead of rose colored. It's always a mixed bag.

FYI for those who don’t know the scene @5:36 when Robin Williams fail, was not a part of the script. He actually fell over, and they kept running with it hence why the actor is trying his best not to laugh
Today is 11/2/22, and I watched this for the first time on Oct. 13th. It's now one of my favorite comedies and one of my favorite movies in general. Believe it or not, my PASTOR recommended it to me a year ago. He loves Robin Williams, so this is actually one of HIS favorite movies! :0
