Thanks for this great tip! Going out to do this now. A serious oversight by travel trailer manufactures. I'm using a 2019 Ram towing a 2023 Grand Design Imagine and they're still screwing this up to this day. Great fix. Thank you!
Great tip, I just did this. There have been so many times I was loaded up and was ready to take off and wished I could let my tailgate down and couldn't do it. Now I can!
That's great info 👍. My Silverado does the same thing, it actually hits and activates the power switch when I try to put something in the bed. Thank You
Problem I have is that LCI did not have the opposing holes on my 2021 trailer ! I will have to drill new holes, hope I drill the correct hole size (not 5/16", it's smaller) and hope I get them properly aligned 180 degrees front to back. There is much room for a slop factor. Then I will need to tap the holes. I might get lucky.
Hell ya. I have the same issue with my new ford superduty. Just did 9000 miles. Tired of putting work gloves as a pad. Also on the ford the camera hits it dead on. Thanks
My Lippert Power Jack wasn't the same as yours. Mine did not have the 2 extra holes in it. I had to drill 2 new holes and then tap them. Problem with all of that is, you have to be absolutely perfectly 180 degrees from new hole to new hole. Otherwise your bolts will not line up. I did it and it worked out fine. But I think there was more luck than skill in getting them perfect.
This work on Our Ford at 3/4 percent and only 1/2 for Our GMC. SO not a fix all for all, very, very cool though. We like it anyways for now the controls are directly in use for the driver.
Thanks for sharing this, esp for mentioning the bolt and thread sizes. Much appreciated!

Busted both switches with the tailgate on my 2017 Silverado last trip. Wish I knew about that easy fix before not after. Thanks for the tip.
Sorry you found out late but I'm glad my tip will help you avoid it from happening again!

Seems like they should have thought about this during the design phase of the power head.
Or the design phase of the trailer

It sounds like you have some skills. You got this. Happy Camping!
Just did same too easy
2023 Winnebago 2108 power jack had no holes, a simple center punch, drill bit, tap we are rotated
Same with my Ford F-250!
Great fix thx 👍😎
I'm glad this helped you out.

Great low cost alternative to spending $175. on an 18" extended hitch from Equalizer.
I'm glad this was able to save you some 💰

I might put a longer hitch on and try that

Darn. I would have liked it to work for all
Just so everyone to know there are options.
Hitch extension? Maybe .
My Equalizer shouldn't be extended. Besides this was a 20 minute fix for almost no cost
Do you have to have the trailer hooked up to the truck?
No you don't. I did mine with the stabilizer jacks down on the trailer just to be safe
Hmmm my 2022 Tundra doesn't hit the power jack
Some hit some don't. I'm glad yours doesn't.
U an awesome. M. F. Copy dat. 10-4
