    Saw a Suzuki catalog, 9507 is made with Nyatoh back and sides. Absolutly not the same wood as the Gibson one.

    Adam, many thanks for this review. I was given one of these by a a random drinking buddy about 10 years ago, I always wondered about the history behind it but always found it has a lovely tone. The brand on the head of mine says 'CF Suzuki and Co, Est 1951' so it seems a little unusual, even compared to some of the reviews I've seen on this guitar. Any knowledge on that would be appreciated. In the meantime, subbing and thanks again for the review!

      @AdamThomasMusic  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey, I'm glad you liked the review, thanks for the sub! As far as I know it wasn't just Gibson that Suzuki were copying, they were also copying Martin, who traditionally have 'CF Martin and Co' on their headstocks. Here is a small article by the BBC on Suzuki guitars www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/objects/uD9JfHSrQEmWqHsQffQ8og

    hi adam nice playing on that vintage kiso , your kiso looks to be early 70's around 1973-75 your square label were from approx 1971-1978 and will have a 5 digit serial number as well as the model number 9507 (aka w65h) the first digit is the build year so 30376 1973 #0376 51204 1975 #1204 etc Nagoya Suzuki had 6 digit serial numbers stamped inside on the heel block , kiso Suzuki were the sister company to Nagoya Suzuki ( the original Suzuki violin co from 1887 founded by masakichi Suzuki )

    My dad has this guitar & wants to know if you was to buy it today brand new how much would it be?

    • @AdamThomasMusic
      @AdamThomasMusic  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I can't be 100% certain here, as they don't appear to make new guitars anymore. But, if we compared it to the price of other acoustic guitars that are made in Japan, these would possibly sell for around £1300 today if they were brand new. That said, that's just my rough estimate based on other Japanese brands.

    • @AdamThomasMusic
      @AdamThomasMusic  Před 4 měsíci

      The second hand price on these guitars is still pretty low though, so I doubt you could sell one for anywhere near that amount.

      All the same tone woods as a guitar worth thousands. They are lovely guitars but still I would recommend you play the one your going to buy first, just to make sure its good and that you like it

      @johntractor9799 Před 5 lety

      I have one, and bought it new in 1980.
      It definitely is NOT solid wood, my one is about 1979 model.
      I paid around $180 at that time, i would have bought a better guitar but it was the only left handed guitar available at that time. It feels good, had crappy tuners (since replaced) and sounds OK but not great.

    How much is that guitar worth

    • @AdamThomasMusic
      @AdamThomasMusic  Před 3 lety +1

      It's hard to tell. I've seen them go between £70 to £250. Due to them not being a well known name they don't have a huge value compared to other guitars from the same era. Unfortunately, since filming this, I have damaged mine and had it fixed, so I imagine this particular one is on the lower end of it's potential value. I don't mind as I don't plan on selling it anyway.

    • @andycpd6669
      @andycpd6669 Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you, i just got one given and it seems like a nice guitar I'm going to give it a good clean restring it. Don't think I'm going to sell it, all the reviews I have seen on it are all good and been wanting a decent acustic for a long time

    You come across as quite ignorant in some of your assumptions on japanese guitars you should go on to the forums and find out from those that really know their stuff
