    NO WAY, I was going to recommend a plein air painting video.
    I was actually going to talk to management at my work and see if our intern and I could leave early one day and paint Denver this week. I've been watching too much James Gurney recently.

    Thanks Andrew, I like how you get the main things down such as perspective and correct values so quickly. As a newbie, I'm likely to stop on a tree and get bogged down instead of pushing on to get the big picture on the canvas. Your tips on colour and brush options are always so useful. I feel more able after this so thanks.

      MichaelKingArtWorks Hi Michael, I bought the Bitterroot in 2011 😊 how did your bottom panel support hold up ? Unfortunately the elastic in mine has perished.. it's been nurtured like a baby so I know it's not due to lack of care. jJust curious as I noticed that Andrew's had a solid wood bottom support. Thanks.

    • @MichaelKingArt
      @MichaelKingArt Před 7 lety +1

      April Palmer That small elastic is hanging in there, although not much elastic anymore. Not really a concern as I can just replace it with anything, really. Come to think of it, I don't think I have removed the lower panel support for over five years now. Lol.

    • @thepochade5992
      @thepochade5992 Před 7 lety +1

      MichaelKingArtWorks Thanks for your reply Michael, the only reason it's been slid /moved is to accommodate larger panels. Yes the elastic is still intact just not so stretchy 😉 not a big deal, was just wondering if your elastic did the same thing in time.

    Hi Andrew! I have seen almost all your short clips videos. You are inspiring artist and I have learned a lot by listening to your process and your techniques that you learned from other artists you admired. I have been drawing all my life and have a god given talent for sure but my process has been self taught on approach to composition of painting. I have taken college courses in the past out of pure enjoyment. :) My question to you is: Do you make a color wheel study for each composition you do in plein air painting from photos you have taken before you go outside? I have trouble knowing how to see colors when I draw from life. Could you give me helpful hints on how you are able to pick what colors to mix just by looking at the distant mountain ranges and countrysides that you paint so wonderfully. I consider myself a realist painter so it is important for me to get as close to original color of subject matter as possible. I find your artwork to be awesome! New Zealand is a beautiful place that God has made for sure. :)

    Hi Andrew,
    I was wondering if you would try out the Etcher art satchel. I have one and I love it. It also fits on a camera tripod, but it works like a backpack. Let me know if you do decide to try one and what your honest option is. I would only suggest that they add a wet panel section to it. Not many oil painters use them, but i do. I am very new at this and love your video's. Learned a lot and now I am teaching my grandson.
