  • This was my first attempt at making a flagstone patio. I'm no pro, and there is a lot I would do differently next time, but I am pretty happy with how it turned out regardless.

    I was out today trying the chisel method on the flagstones. Making noise and didn’t work. And here you just drop a big rock and done. Thank you

    I was cracking up when you said not to do it in a 90 degree weather... that was my first mistake ( 4th of July weekend 2020 Indiana = 93degrees with 60+ RH) for prep work. Upcoming weekend laying 3 tons of flagstone. Thanks for the tips! I’ll be drinking the cold beer for sure!

    is it me, or does it feel like I'm watching a 1960s movie with that background music?

    All the white stuff you sprayed out at the end was the poly in the sand. Youre supposed to give it a few passes of mistings without letting the white stuff start to run out.

      @mcmanlyman  Před 4 lety

      I was worried it woul harden ontop of the stone if I let it sit too long. It gave the stone a cloudy a cloudy appearance. I guess I shoul have let it sit. That said, it is still holding up ok.

      @@mcmanlyman even if the poly leaves, the sand will still work but polymeric would be stronger. The method is to sweep it in, use a blower held at a low angle and blow the extra sand off the stones without blowing out of the cracks, and then give it a few passes of misting. When the white stuff gets on the stones it will leaves a haze. With interlock the extra step is to tamp the stones after sanding to sink the sand deeper into the joints, and then give a second sanding to fill them to the top before blowing and misting.

    You didn't use a blower to remove poly sand. Did it leave residue?

    • @mcmanlyman
      @mcmanlyman  Před rokem

      It has! I had a small sunken area that appeared within the first few weeks, likely because I did tampen the foundation long enough in that area, but no real issues with the poly.

    Why don't you take 15 minutes to walk your dog in the morning, rather than getting up in arms over your dog doing their business on the grass and deciding on spending x amount of money on equipment to remove what tiny amount of yard is there to begin with, oh, right, not enough money unreasonably spent this month.
    Just teasin man, a stroll every morning is way less stress on the body and I'm sure your pup would much more appreciate that energy of you taking the time to take them for a walk rather than removing the yard they enjoyed and making an entire video with the opening title literally saying you're removing your dog's bathroom because you're, "not having it". Why do you even have a dog?

    • @rbaur2581
      @rbaur2581 Před 4 lety +2

      what a moronic response there Mr. E ... first of all, the dog thing is likely more of a joke than anything. Secondly, the video is not about dogs or even showing what he does or doesn't do daily, in terms of walking the dog -- i take my dog on a 30 min walk daily, btw, and that has nothing to do w/ the rest of the day nor affects where his favorite spots are in the yard for going...
