- Perhaps the coolest new addition to Firefly Guitars ever expanding lineup... they are now offering a set-neck double neck guitar WITH a hard case for $399. This is the most affordable double neck + case combo that I know of. And yes, it has the rounded ball end stainless steel frets! Let's review this guitar.

And Max, just so you know, Stephen Marmosec (I hope I got the spelling right) and I came up with the wiring for these. George from Firefly wanted a wiring harness with only one volume and one tone. Stephen approached me for some hints. I remembered working on a 1965 Moserite doubleneck some years ago that only had one volume and one tone. That became the basis for the wiring harness.
i’m glad I was not drinking coffee when you said this was from Firefly, because the first thing I thought was “WTF!!?” next thing I thought was “too bad it’ll be sold out by the time I see this“
%100 correct, next time we see it it will be on eBay for $ 550,at least.
They have been available since November on guitars garden.
You jump on guitars garden and you can grab one real quick. Max just put this video up a couple hours ago man. There's a good possibility if you jump over there right now you might still be able to grab it last time I was able to do the same thing with the baritone and a couple other fireflies in the past like the Explorer and the V
I just snagged one of these in red. I couldn’t resist. I’m going to have to stop watching this channel. I can’t afford a divorce.
Tune the 12 down a step or in open D. Leo Kottke said of playing 12 string: “You spend half your time tuning the guitar, and the other half of your time playing out of tune.”
I've never liked double neck guitars, but this thing is nice and sounds good. If I were to buy a double neck, this is what I'd get.
I look forward to your comparison between this and the HB double neck.
Me too. Did you ever find a comparison video?
@@sryburn641 Not yet. Still looking.
Pretty sure the 12 string nut on this is std 43mm nut - making it not easy to play
The HB 12 string is a 50mm nut like it's Gibson big brother
damn skippy.. thats a good toy for learning some old triumph songs
Mine arrived today, and she is exactly as described in the vid! I am quite impressed!
I just got mine too a couple weeks ago! I love it!
Your phrase please consider subscribing right now is so awesome English politeness coupled to urgency. Wonderful
Beautiful! I got the Firefly gold Les Paul last year and it SREAMS! Thanks for the vid....
*What an unbelievable value and it sounded amazing! Thank you for sharing, Max!* 🤘🤘
Just got mine this week took forever to tune it but man what a guitar for 400 bucks
Wow I thought I was going to hear Hotel California lol this is awesome deal. Great video man you rock!
At this time they are only selling double neck's and not the regular sg style. Also their other popular styles are being limited for some reason. I guess maybe their get rid of old stock for new? Anyway great video again sir keep up the good work! 👍
This is probably gonna be my next purchase. I took a chance on one of the unbranded Chinese doublenecks from Brandon's Custom Shop on Reverb, and I got a lemon (12-string neck had the worst corkscrew twist I've ever seen on a guitar). The fact that the case is included with this one is a big selling point, as it seems like every doubleneck needs its own proprietary case. Was very disappointed the BCS one didn't fit in an Epiphone G1275 case.
I really enjoyed my visit with you, and I don't own a double neck gaiter, but I have often thought about maybe getting one one day! I'm impressed with the look and sound of this Firefly, and the price is a plus! Thanks for the demo!😊
😎 COOL guitar at a great price. Thanks for the videos Max!
Definitely Outstanding Bang For The Buck Guitar and Case!!!! Anyone and Everyone even remotely interested in a double neck guitar would be well served paying considerable attention to this one. Thanks for another outstanding demo, review, and video, Max. Please keep them coming!
No matter what you're playing, you always have a killer tone.
dude no joke, I was watching your review of the SG type model from a year ago and I saw this on the website and wanted to see if you had a review on this and it wasn't there... come back 5 mins later you've uploaded a video of this very guitar so I think I might have to buy it...
The stars are aligning!
@@GuitarMAXMusic I’m gonna wait for the comparison of the Harley Benton version vs the FireFly, lmk when you upload that!
We love you doing what ya do so don't freaking stop!!!!
Just purchased. Thanks Max!
Hello I just received my white double neck firefly a week ago it is awesome guitar plays beautifully well worth every dime thanks for all your great reviews look forward to seeing more take care🎸🎸
Welcome to the Firefly Doubleneck Owners Club. I have the same 6/12 as Max.
I have three Firefly's. Resonator (haven't seen that on the sight for a while) the 335 red w/white stripe and just got the Les Paul type for Christmas. This might be my next purchase, thanks for the review and have never had a big issue that was not solved by guitarsgarden. These have all been great guitars, I recommend them highly!
I just received mine and LOVE IT!! I picked up the transparent red. Looking forward to the Harley Benton comparison review video.
You do the best reviews on Firefly Guitars. You should do one a month because I’m obsessed with the idea of them. I currently only have a FF338 but definitely want to dive in more.
Thanks for the review. I was on the fence on snagging one of these, but you helped sell it, so I order one to play with. Cheers~
Mine arrived today. So cool! 12 string sounds great! Need to remove the plastic from the 6 string pickups and make a few tweaks (fret buzz), but this thing is solid as Hell, feels good, and way nicer than the Epiphone doubleneck I tried a few weeks ago. Also the case is nice. Can't wait to put this thing through its paces.
*** Update*** loving this thing! By the way I hadn't noticed at first that it has 22 frets on both necks vs. 20 on the Gibson EDS-1275 and 21 on the Epiphone G-1275. I'll take that extra weight for that extra range.
Great CZcams piece, just purchased the red one, love your channel!!
This is looks cool... and the price seems great! Thanks for sharing!
I am definitely getting one. I've always wanted a double neck, but they're generally cost prohibitive for me. I can afford this one, and it sounds great.
A month later, and I actually have one. Holy shit. I have to adjust the necks a bit to accommodate the lighter strings I prefer, but it plays like a dream and sounds amazing. Most ridiculous and best purchase I've ever made.
@@Nothing-zw3yd That's awesome 😎
@@Nothing-zw3ydpost a video?
Great deal with the case. Love your playing.
I'm definitely intrigued. I switch between bass and six string, so I'm tempted to check that one out.
Just ordered this Thursday night. Hoping they ship soon.
It arrives this Friday!
Really stunning guitar, sounds great and that price, wow! 👍
Your videos rock man, thanks for sharing, I am looking at this guitar in 2024
I was wondering when Firefly would come out with this style guitar and now with a case. I hope they start doing this on all guitars. They almost have to do this because everyone is doing this. I'm saving for the airtonic guitar. I hate tuning a 12 string but 18 oh my word. Thanks Max. Harley Benton leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I was hoping you would review this guitar. I've seen other reviews on CZcams, but I trust your opinion over theirs. I gotta have one for sure now.
12:13 Love your videos and I have made a few nice purchases from your reviews! Looking forward to the Harley Benton double neck comparison. You Rock!
I am wondering about the bass - guitar combo. That might open a lot of playing options as well.
That's the one that got my attention. Wonder if it has separate outputs. Two output jacks would open up more possibilities. With one output I guess an a/b box to switch between amps or signal chains will do and give the modding community a project.
Edit: Maybe a stereo output jack could work?
What a RUSH....Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee guitars for 800.00 for the pair..You wear it well. Amazing what is out there,Now. 👍💯
I've ordered two guitars that you recommend,The Les Paul styled Wolf and I absolutely love them. The red one you are holding in your opening video advertisement and my wife ordered me a turquoise one also.I am a die hard Gibson fan,but not there prices and the Wolf was a godsend. The double neck looks great.Wouldnt mind the one your playing in the video lol,(just because I know you have it set up right). I'll wait for the comparison video and order the one you recommend. Thanks
Dude, I’m such a sucker for that color. I love it.😍😍🤘🏾🤘🏾
Damn you, Max! Now I've found my next new guitar.
Thing looks sick. You turned me onto firefly and now my main guitar for Sunday service is the semi hollow body in red. It’s always such a pleasant experience playing it and it still wows me with the massive range of sounds it gets. So if your looking to get a firefly, pull the trigger!
Yup I bought my first firefly last year , an SG. Can't believe how good it is for $200!
Wow, thank you for a great post my friend!
I just purchased this exact guitar yesterday but in pure white as I intend to use it for selective worship songs at our Sunday Services.
Hoping you are enjoying yours and I’m just hoping that, aside from a usual setup of screw tightenings, truss adjustments, lubrication, new strings, etc…it will play well without needing to overhaul the electronics, pickups, etc.
🎸🙂🤚
@@JS45678 bro the one I received (ordered from Amazon too) is insanely clean for the price. Heck I thought I would try waxing the pickups for better sound, and I’m pretty sure they came pre waxed! If not they are the best “cheap guitar” humbuckers made because they are as clean as you need or great with the gain. Also a swell pedal is heavenly with this guitar. Enjoy your guitar!
@@DarrenLeadfoot Wow! My friend, I had the tea candle waiting but, now, I may not need it! 😃
Thank You so much for boosting my excitement level 1000 fold! I play Les Pauls, Martin, a Taylor 12 string, and other guitars but a double neck is a brand new and exciting challenge for me.
Your great post and reply has eliminated my buyer’s remorse. Much thanks, much appreciation my friend!
🎸😃🎶
Just bought one, on red. I've been wanting a double neck for ever. Cheers
I just bought a Red one too!
I always love your reviews. I would enjoy a review of a Michael Kelley Hex Deluxe which isnt made anymore. Mine has rockfield pasive pups that soounds as good as the emg 81 85 on my soloist
Hi Max , since you have not yet done a comparison video with the FireFly doubleneck and the Harley Benton doubleneck , I bought 1 of each . And ... I love them both , for different reasons . Thank you for letting us all know about these fantastic affordable guitars .
That’s beautiful, Max.
Other nice thing about a 3 way switch for the necks is you have the 6 side on, and play the 12 side...it sounds otherworldly, and vice versa...neat 'lil thing I discovered on the 2 neck Epiphones...
Insane!!! Some 'Hotel California" would get some dusting ;)
Great review.
The bass/6string combo is interesting.
this blows my mind. that price with stainless steel frets and 22 frets beats my epiphone on frets both in numbers and quality very impressive
The first thing I thought of when I saw this video was the double-neck Gibson Don Felder used for live performances of Hotel California. And he had Gibson add the secondary switch…that they have done here. Very impressive, especially for the price.
Absolutely awesome WOW!
While playing and singing the song most closely associated with white double neck having a volume control for each neck and a much easier to reach neck selector switch is very important. I've parked my HB until the necessary mods can be done, meanwhile I use a kit guitar from Solo guitars.
Amazing guitar now i want one lol you are my go t guy for guitars
Wow that is freakin crazy!!!!!!! I want one !!!
That just looks awesome.
That is an interesting guitar. I gets the job done while looking good.
January 2024. Love to have one. Submitted a request to firefly customer service at guitars Garden as the when they would be available again. Thanks for the video!
JUNE 2024: Did you receive a reply from Firefly? I am curious because I'd like to buy one of these. Thanks ~
Sweet!!!(just subscribed)
Placing my order today. I have several high end guitars but can't see shelling out what a Gibson costs for a guitar I'd only be using for a couple of songs per gig. This should do just fine for that
Pretty good intonation for $400. Wow.
Thanks for posting.
I think I just figured out where my next paycheck is going
I want one now!
What a nice Guitar 🎸!
I want one! 😁
My big concern is the weight. Having shoulder issues, that makes what I end up playing lighter than usual.
I just got mine a couple weeks ago, it's not that bad weight wise. I have shoulder problems too and it's not too much for me.
Hope they got the nut width right on the 12 string neck (should be wider than the 6 string neck nut). If both are the same width it will be a beeotch to play. Having played a Chibson double neck that didn't increase the nut width of the 12 string neck if you don't have really skinny fingers it is near impossible to play the notes cleanly. Good vid as always. Cheers
An epiphone double neck case is $150. So that's like getting the guitar for $250. Really cool!
sounds great
THATS AWESOME 🤘💪⚡️
@GuitarMAXMusic1 - Nice review and demo! I also liked your Harley-Benton Double Neck unboxing and demo. You didn't mention neck dive which seems to be endemic to double neckers. Thoughts on addressing this? Wider sticky strap, and adding strap button near the lower neck are what I've heard...
Looks really nice … what is the quality like on these guitars and are the pickups decent or will they need to be switched out ?
I got the red one. The case is unbelievable. I have 4 other FF's and this one isn't the best. I had to take it to a shop because the 12 was way off and nut had to be replaced BUT I still can't complain. The switches are hard to memorize if you are going to change then in the middle of a song.
You sold me on this!!! I just ordered one for my guitar collection!!!! Thank you!!!
I love the double neck guitar!
Pretty cool! Reminds me of Don Felder's Gibson but affordable
All Max needs is a dragon suit, a long haired hippie singer and some tasty Stairway to heaven riffs and he'll be good to go!✌
Hmmmm, didn't some 'other guy' do something similar to that 'a few' years back?
😉
@@ModernGolfer a few years, more like a half century at least. Those guys are all old and grey but Max can carry on the Zep torch.
Aparently, the toggle positions vary. My neck selector is the one nearly between the volume and tone pots. The pickup selectors are the two back high and low toggles.
Hey Max it's cool and a great price. But what about the case.. it be cool to see also
Even though I'm just an early beginner.....I want one!
Very nice! 😍
Awesome,, definitely more than worth the money.
That is such a bad ass guitar! Being 60 now, I grew up in the days where many guitar hero’s used double-neck guitars. Even if I can’t play a 12 string for $400 it’s tempting just to hang on the wall and play it once in a while it’s so damn cool! Two necks Twice as cool!
Gotcha beat,I’m 72🤣👍🏿
Why can’t you play a 12-string? If you can play a 6-string, what’s the problem? 🤨
You should play more of that Byrds style 12 string, sounded good!
Wow!!!!! Very impressive for such a reasonable price.....
Firefly Does it again...
Made a Guitar that I MUST Have !!!
Time For Firefly Guitar Number 6 ! Lol.
All it needs is stereo outs for call and response.
(And independent volume controls).
Does it come with complimentary sheet music for Hotel California and The Rain Song? J/K
Good rundown.
Thanks!
Your Amp sounded exceptionally well. Not sure what you did?
Just noticed they also have a version with a 4 string bass 6 string guitar combo!!!!! For the same price....
If I was going to take a chance on either of these budget double neck guitar, I would probably choose to go with this one instead of the Harley Benton model because of those inlays. That makes this one come a little bit closer esthetically to being like the Gibson 1275 it’s based on.
Amazing for the money. I have a Firefly LP guitar love it. Only thing is this guitar is over 13 pounds heavy. Probably just use for a song or two for a gig. Back breaker 😮😮 👍👌💯🎸🎸. Nice to have one though. 😊😊. Good video as usual buddy 👍👌💯
Had a EDS-1275 before my house was burglarized while I was in hospital having back surgery, lost 17 guitars, now trying to replace them on a retirement salary (not easy to do) but found the Cozart Double Neck with case for $350.00 New. May not be the same quality,.Idk? Have never played a Firefly, but after setting the truss rods and necks it plays really well and sounds great. However, I am going to replace all hardware wit with quality Gibson ATP-6 & 12s, ABR-1 bridges, Himbucker pickups and Gibson Deluxe Tuners. Should then play as close to my old EDS-1275 as I can get without spending 7-10K.
Another CZcamsr demoed a Gibson double neck and the access to upper frets were almost impossible. It's nice that Firefly made the access easier with the higher cutaway.
Plus the Gibson double only has 20 frets on both necks. The Stairway solo should be a breeze on this one. lol
@@funkster007 I'm surprised he didn't mention that, kind of a selling point
Ima defa checking these out:-)))
I saw their SG looking thing that’s a 12 string. I don’t know if I want a double neck or not, it they’re certainly cool looking.
2 set necks. Hard case. Mahogany and Rosewood. Binding. Parallelogram inlays. Stainless frets. $399? Wow.. Sounds great so the pickups are at least pretty good. Zero need for a Chibson this is a copy but with lots of cool features
This one just fits you 😁😁
I haven't played mine a lot but I have a complaint, other then the weight and the position of the strap pin. I've been playing 60 years so I'm not a beginner. When I finger a note on the 12 string fingerboard, I'm feeling the wound string and that's where my pick instinctively goes so I'm missing the octave string. Mentioned to a music store friend and he said the Rickenbacker 12 string has the wound and octave strings reversed. So, wound, octave wound, octave etc. I'm going to try to change the nut to match the Rick's configuration. Thoughts?
I should also mention, beautiful guitar in cherry red and amazing price!
Hey brother. How much setup was required to get that guitar playing like that. Great video
