    If you have old timber windows you can buy adhesive sponge type foam from 1 mm to 10 mm thickness, i have put 5mm type on front entry door. But if you have aluminum windows with sliders (sashes) , check the glass to aluminium silicone seal on outside by tapping or gently pushing on bottom part of glass. If you can stick your finger nail in or rattles ever so slightly when tapping then you need to reapply silicone caulk on the outside. To do this you can buy a telephone suction cap cos theyre cheap if you look around. Step 1 is go inside and look at the glazing rubber pushing on the glass, (black) it should be a wedge style. Spray soapy water onto the corner and get a small flat blade screwdiver and stab in to rubber against the metal fin and try to pry it up. If it works then you can take each panel out to reseal. Step 2 pull rubber out then go on the outside with suction cap and attach to glass at shoulder height. If when tap glass it rattles more then get a retractable stanley knife (boxcutters) long blade type not small one. Put blade in between aluminum fin and glass where it will you can fit it gently stab in and cut around the perimeter to free the panel. Step 3. Make sure when silicone is cut you can move glass easily by using sucker and dont force in case there are blobs in corners. Step 4. Go inside when its floating in the opening and put sucker onto glass at shoulder height and when lifting glass put forearm against the panel and gently lift into the head track section and left or right as one jamb will have a deeper pocket. Then swing panel out just use controlled strength. Slowly not to hit and break it. Step 5. Once glass is out take the sharp blade cut silicone bead out. Make sure its spotless. No little lumps. Clean glass edges with sharp blade and wear thick gloves. Step 6. Reapply silicone on the fin of what you took off on frame and be generous and apply around perimeter. Btw cut silicone nozzle on caulking gun at 45 degree angle and hold gun at 45 degree angle. Try to be reasonably quick cos it tacks pretty quick about 5 mins. Step 7 refit glass same way you removed and gently push on edges (careful). Spray soapy water around perimeter and push rubber wedge back in and make sure you fit rubber with fat end facing up and pointy part of profile into frame. Can only go one way. All window manufacturers tend to skimp on sealant. Hope this helps as i have been a commercial glass and aluminum joiner on site for about 20 years! Ive have to do many reglazes and also because of condensation as well. If anyone has questions just post a reply or comment and i can get back pretty quick!😊 cheers from Australia and have a great day!

    Wipe the Corners and around the window once so there's no
    Mold half bleach half water mix do that once there's no mold it will Last a whole winter
    THE WATER will drip on the foil
    The heat from the sun or inside
    The house will make the temperature of the foil melt the water. Only need to do it winter season dont forget to take it out in the spring or summer it will be to hot. Yes do it once a year but it's worth it. 18 years now 50 dollars on foil

    Here's something to try. I'm actually trying this now.
    Use some regular bubble wrap. The same stuff you would wrap stuff in for shipping. You can probably find this stuff at any big box store. I'm using the kind with the smaller bubbles. Make sure you get the kind that has one side that is smooth (meaning it doesn't have bubbles on both sides). Cut the bubble wrap to fit your window. if your window has dividers then you need to cut pieces to fit each one of the small panes. Once you have the pieces cut spray the smooth side with a little Windex or a water and soap mix (like dish detergent), this will allow the bubble wrap to cling to the window (do not use anything that is sticky you'll just mess up your windows). you don't need a lot just enough to dampen the smooth side of the bubble wrap.
    Now apply the bubble wrap, smooth side against the window, it should cling pretty easy. Yes, you won't be able see clearly out the window but it does allow light to come through. The bubble wrap should now create a barrier between the freezing glass window pane and the warm air inside your house. Hopefully this should prevent condensation from forming. I'm going to test it for the next month (February) and see how good of a job it does. When the warmer weather returns, you can easily just pull the bubble wrap off and save the pieces for next Winter. Hope this helps some of you.

    • @bambamnj
      @bambamnj Před 5 lety +1

      @@sylyjoly Not if you bubble wrap the whole window, no, because you can't see through bubble wrap, but what you can do is bubble wrap the bottom half of the window and leave the upper half alone. I've done this and it works pretty well. Window's tend to build moisture from the bottom up.
      The bubble wrap acts as a barrier between the really cold glass and the moist warm air of your house. I did notice that when it's really cold outside some moisture does accumulate on the bubble wrap but it dissipates quickly and I haven't seen any water on the bottom of my windows, like I did previously.
