The problem with auto jump being on by default is that you have to turn it on every time you make a new modpack. Unlike other settings, auto jump can really throw someone off if they are used to no auto jump. and if you constantly make random modpacks, you have to turn it off every single time, it can get annoying.
This change can apply on the other way around now. I am mad at mojang.

One of these days I hope to see dynamic biomes. It would be cool to see how much a player makes an impact on biomes. If you deforest an area then it should turn from a forest to a plains, and depending on what you do, it could turn into a desert. Changes like this gives me hope.
I think they should add a "true survivial" gamemode where they redesign the game to be a survivial game, sacrificing aspects of creativity
I doubt they'll ever add this. That's a ton of work for a minor feature most people would either get annoyed by or not notice or care at all.
I mean, if I want to build a desert oasis or something, and then it starts removing all the desert around me, I'll be pretty pissed.
@@EllaKarhuI know they'd never add it, mods however are possibly a different story
I could see this being a problem for biome- specific features. Most notable are the spawn mechanics of mushroom fields and swamps.
You might make a slime farm and a witch farm in a swamp and then terraform around it. If it then switches to plains because you've removed all the water, that may render both farms unusable.
And just imagine anything in regards to a mushroom field. It spontaneously changing could wreck everything youve built if your not careful.
I'm not saying it would expand on its own, it would need a player to do so. Besides, it would give players an interesting challenge to find the perfect balance.
Edit: Still would have to be a mod, data pack, or a disabled by default gamerule.
Awesome video once again Phoenix! Also hope you get better soon!
"im going to work really hard to make sure i can ride myself" - Phoenix SC 2023
As a disabled person who's been playing Minecraft since the early days I was glad when auto jump was added since it made it more accessible to me, but I guess I can understand how it can be frustrating for some people to have accessibility options enabled by default. It sucks that I'll have to turn it on every time I install a new modpack once mods are made for the newest version, but I understand that I'm probably in the minority. I just wish there was a way to tie these settings to your account rather than your individual Minecraft instances.
Honestly that would be amazing. Especially for accessibility settings. I mean how often does one change those? (except for those new installs :P)
You can copy over the settings file if you want, still annoying but it keeps your mouse sense, other keybinds and other things.
This is why I use a launcher called MultiMC.
It allows me to have multiple instances of minecraft, that way I can have all modpacks, vanilla versions, anything I make be in the same place, and in order to keep my settings I copy options.txt to each instance I create
The solution is really do add some kind of default basic version of options.txt to Prism Launcher, so you could start each new instance with your favourite settings in place. It can be worth noting that this is really not a Vanilla issue, since only with a non-Vanilla launcher can you have different instances.
As a work-around you can create new instances by starting a copy of another instance and only copy options, or you can manually copy the options.txt file from another instance.
@@mag-icus Oh neat! I use Prism Launcher these days but I didn't know there was an option to add a default version of options.txt. I haven't really explored the launcher very much tbh.
Thanks for the help everyone!
I hate auto jump being on by default because I mess with a bunch of different mods so since mods create a different minecraft pretty much every time, i have to turn it off every time. Also /ride has been in bedrock for a couple of months, but you've only been able to ride the stuff you would normally be able to ride and same goes with mobs that can ride other mobs so this is cool :D.

Auto jump off by default is such an unnesessary nitpicking. It is a part of Minecraft history. Like, you get the game, start a new world, get a bit confused and surprised when auto jump kicks in, but you decide to play along, and at the first night, or in the first cave, auto jump does something quirky, like throws you off a cliff, or gives you up to zombies, and you go and shut the damn thing down being very specifically irritated, partly by the game, and partly in your own inability to utilise such a simple feature. And then you play the game for some time, completely forgetting about its existence. But sometimes you need a specific version for something, or you get a fresh pc, and you get the process again. Such an iconic experience we losing here. What will be next, java version gets discontinued? After auto jump it can be anything, really

When you had the title I was scared that they simply made auto jump a permanent feature. This is a great change! Apparently, it's the PE/Mobile Bedrock edition players that like it, but honestly I used to play mobile and I preferred it off and just switching the sneak and jump buttons. There is also a way around getting next to a block by going into it sideways or backwards since auto jump only works while pressing the W key or forward for mobile and console

You can press both buttons at the same time to jump while still sprinting. To jump again just get the finger back to the up arrow and repeat.
They also brought back the old damage tilt that broke back in 1.3, instead of just tilting left it now tilts in the direction you got hit (i made a tweet showing it)
As someone who always, always goes into settings for every program or game, I'm very much used to change the Minecraft settings everytime I use a new instance (I switch a lot between modded and unmodded instances aswell as versions). Having auto jump off by default is a change I wanted to see for a while now, but in the end it saves me 2 seconds. I understand the people who like, want or need auto jump though, since I had to go through the same thing they will be going through now, always switching it to on.
The entire auto-jump thing (as well as having to readjust every other setting) could be fixed if they'd let you easily carry over settings between instances
You might be able to if you can into batch / shell scripting
this wouldn't work because every version in the same directory (which is usually .minecraft) has one options.txt file, which is formatted differently depending on which version you are on. So in order to store the options in the version folder, you would need to go back and update every single version, which wouldn't happen for obvious reasons. One way to solve this is for you to make a directory for every single version. This eliminates having to turn off auto-jump every time you switch to a version where it exists as well as no warnings about old and new worlds and texture packs.
